Hugh in France: The best teams shouldn't snub the cup and disrespect inferior opposition. Shame on you Bournemouth ;-).

Ivanov van der poel: Why won't Villa take the FA Cup seriously? (see 14:08)

Sometimes you can't beat a big number nine can you? City striker Matt Smith bullets in another header, and it's opposite number Andy Carroll who clears off the line again!

Oooh, was that handball from Carroll? He would be off if it was...

Paul Merson back? Dion Dublin? Or Tom Cleverley turning his loan move into a permanent one. We shall find out soon enough.

"A great move. Bristol City's link-up play completely undid Carl Jenkinson at right-back and Joe Bryan does the right thing by smashing it across the goal, but it goes out for a corner. Another good chance for Bristol City."

Chance! Jay Emmanuel-Thomas looks to have lost the ball with some over-elaborate play on the edge of the box, but he wins it back and plays an incisive one-two with left wing-back Joe Bryan. Bryan bursts into the box, tight angle, but hammers a shot right across goal.

    Unlucky.

  6. Has your team defied the odds?published at 14:18 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2015

In association with Get Inspired, a BBC initiative aiming to increase participation in sport, we have been asking you to tell us about a time when the team you play in has defied the odds.

Luke, London: My mate's side won the Plate at the Warwick University 11-a-side league despite being the musical theatre team. Opponents were expecting it to be full of play actors and divers but they dug deep and won against all the odds. Here's the best bit - the team's called 'Off Side Story.'

The early pace to the game shows no sign of slowing up yet. Luke Freeman is the hub of it all for the hosts, he has a shot deflected clear and then again chooses the wrong pass on a breakaway. Fine start.

West Ham finally have an attack, Mark Noble playing a neat pass through for Andy Carroll to chase. City keeper Frankie Fielding - who has always been bald every time I've seen him but now has a full head of hair - comes out to clear his lines. Top goalkeeping.

Luke Freeman is making it a front three for City at times, it's more of a 3-4-3 and their attacking game has West Ham on the back foot. Freeman almost gets Matt Smith in on goal but his final pass is awry.

"It's been a great start from Bristol City, they have really started on the front foot and look very powerful. Mark Little is getting himself forward at every opportunity. He is playing at right wing-back but really he's playing more like a winger. He also absolutely clattered into Kevin Nolan just now - he totally flattened him jumping for a header."

Adam Reddish: Ashton Gate's looking like a massive Where's Wally convention today.

Chris Mackintosh: No matter what happens we can hold our heads high today. Done brilliant to get this far.

Daniel King: I can see another 'cupset' here...

New signing Carles Gil makes his first start for Aston Villa in one of six changes boss Paul Lambert has made to the side that lost to Liverpool last time out. Ciaran Clark returns and captains the side while Shay Given comes into goal and Kieran Richardson, Leandro Bacuna and Andreas Weimann also start.

Championship leaders Bournemouth, meanwhile, make eight changes to the side that lost to Leeds in their previous game.

Aston Villa XI: Given, Hutton, Okore, Clark, Richardson, Bacuna, Cleverley, Sanchez, Gil, Weimann, Benteke.

Bournemouth XI: Camp, Smith, Elphick, Cook, Harte, Stanislas, Arter, O'Kane, MacDonald, Fraser, Kermorgant.

A tremendous tempo to the game so far. West Ham attack but it breaks down and City look to hit them on the counter, Mark Little gets forward but again it breaks up in the final third. City's 3-5-2 is causing problems for West Ham.

At times they have five up front, they are very adventurous.

  14. CLOSE!published at 14:06 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2015

Off the line! Bristol City's first corner almost brings the opener as Aden Flint wins the first ball, Matt Smith loops the header over the head of Adrian and Mark Noble has to scramble it clear!

    Terrific start to proceedings.

Former West Ham striker John Hartson
BBC Radio 5 live at Ashton Gate

"Bristol City have started with a 3-5-2 formation but the two full-backs are literally playing like wingers. Then you have the creativity of Luke Freeman playing off the two powerhouses up front for Bristol City - Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, who used to be at Arsenal, and Matt Smith, who is a monster of a man."

  16. Postpublished at 14:04 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2015

Matt Smith has an early shot well blocked before Stewart Downing's first touch is ended by Korey Smith's fine tackle. Pretty end-to-end in the opening moments.

City's first two attempts to pick out targetman Matt Smith are both cut out by James Tomkins. The Robins will mix it up, they can play but they can hit the big man as well. Good combo.

Former West Ham striker John Hartson
BBC Radio 5 live at Ashton Gate

"The onus is on Bristol City to take the game to West Ham with this fantastic crowd at Ashton Gate. They will have taken encouragement from all the fantastic shocks we saw yesterday, but I am sure The Hammers will be up for the challenge."
