  1. "The best performance I have seen"published at 13:27 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2015

    Former England midfielder Danny Murphy
    Match of the Day

"I could not believe it yesterday. I would rather focus on Bradford's quality, but Jose Mourinho used the word disgraceful and it was actually. The Chelsea team is made up of international players, it must have been a mentality thing.

"Things can go against you, but Chelsea were 2-0 up. Bradford would have been forgiven for dropping their heads but it was the best performance I have ever seen."

West Ham delivered a cracking Cup tie in the last round too, keeper Adrian coming to the rescue from the spot in a gripping penalty shootout win over Everton. Both sides would want to settle this one on the day you'd reckon.

Ashton gate filling up - all three sides anyway. One stand behind the goal is being demolished and rebuilt.

  4. 'Stewie taking Europe by storm'published at 13:18 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2015

    Former Wales international Robbie Savage
    Football Focus

"Stewart Downing has got five goals this season but the important thing is he is in the top five across Europe in terms of creating chances. Sam Allardyce deserves a lot of credit for changing formation, and now Downing gets forward in that diamond he has the licence to create. He has done exceptionally well."

  5. Has your team defied the odds?published at 13:18 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2015

Oli, Bromsgrove: My middle school entered an A and a B team into a 5-a-side local tournament between all the schools. Everyone, even the coaches, had written off my B team even winning a game. Somehow we met the A team in the semi-finals and after parking the bus for the whole game we beat them on penalties and proceeded to the final where we went on and won the whole thing, we sent shockwaves through the footballing world that day!

So City are flying - but the Hammers are having a fine season too. West Ham have their highest Premier League points haul after 22 games: 36 points.

Much-maligned midfielder Stewart Downing has created 60 chances this Premier League season (including assists). Only Cesc Fabregas (67) has created more.

Could the Hammers go all the way?

  8. High-flying Robinspublished at 13:14 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2015

Bristol City boss Steve Cotterill has lost just 11 of his 64 games in charge in all competitions, with City winning their last four matches, scoring 12 times and conceding just twice.

On-loan Fulham targetman Matt Smith has scored nine goals in his last seven matches; and strike partner Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has four in three and seven in eight FA Cup appearances for the Robins.

    He's a maverick too. Think lower-league Berbatov...

  11. Team Newspublished at 13:09 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2015

Bristol City make two changes from the side which beat Scunthorpe 2-0 last weekend. In come Mark Little and George Saville.

West Ham make just one enforced change. Big Sam is taking this very seriously indeed. Good to see. New Zealand centre-half Winston Reid is in in place of the injured James Collins.

Bristol City: Fielding, Little, Williams, Flint, Bryan, Ayling, K. Smith, Freeman, Emmanuel-Thomas, M. Smith

West Ham: Adrian, Reid, Cresswell, Tomkins, Jenkinson, Nolan, Noble, Downing, Song, Carroll, Valencia.

  12. Get on the Gatepublished at 13:06 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2015

And first to our early game, live on BBC One and online, and another real chance of an upset on the cards at Ashton Gate.

League One v a Premier League side from London. Sound familiar?

Bristol City may not match Bradford's feat if they win today but it will still be a major upsetting of the odds. And Steve Cotterill's men will certainly fancy their chances. They've won their last four in a row...

  13. Cherries on top?published at 13:05 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2015

    Paul LambertImage source, Getty Images

Today's middle game sees struggling Aston Villa host Championship leaders Bournemouth at Villa Park.

The upset here might well be a Villa win. A quirky stat doing the rounds is that Bournemouth have scored more goals in Birmingham than Villa this season, thanks to their 8-0 win at Birmingham in October and Villa's dreadful scoring record.

Paul Lambert's side have scored 11 goals in 22 Premier League matches. The Cherries have 57 league goals already...

  14. Postpublished at 13:03 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2015

In today's late game, Arsenal travel down the M23 to Brighton's impressive new(ish) Amex Stadium on the back of last week's stirring 2-0 win at Manchester City.

Arsene Wenger for once put pragmatism over pizzazz and saw Santi Cazorla in sparkling form. It was mightily impressive stuff, but can Brighton test them this afternoon?

Chris Hughton's side are on the up too, with a 3-2 win over Ipswich in midweek.

  15. A SHOCKING WEEKENDpublished at 13:02 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2015

    BradfordImage source, Getty Images

Cambridge, Middlesbrough, Bradford City. It's been a wonderful weekend of FA Cup surprises, stories and shocks so far.

And guess what? We could well have three more this afternoon.

    The Cup runneth over...

  17. 'Bristol City belief'published at 12:58 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2015

Bristol City manager Steve CotterillImage source, Getty Images

Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill will be out to ruin West Ham boss Sam Allardyce's FA Cup dream in front of the BBC cameras at Ashton Gate.

"We have to have a certain amount of belief in ourselves because otherwise we may as well not turn up," says Cotterill, whose side are second in League One.

"We know we have to play to our maximum and potentially they have to have an off-day. We may need a little bit of luck, we know that, but these things can happen in the FA Cup.

"The players will learn something in this game."

West Ham have been one of the surprise packages in the Premier League this season but there is nothing more manager Sam Allardyce wants than getting his team to the FA Cup final.

"It would be fantastic for me, to walk out your team out at Wembley - that's something you do this job for," says Allardyce, whose side play Bristol City today in a game you can watch live from 13:15 GMT on BBC One.

"It's every player and every manager's dream. As the time slips by you realise how difficult it is.

"There are times when you get closer - in this competition there's always that piece of luck that you need."

  19. Bad news for the Eastend Shedmanpublished at 12:50 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2015

I wonder where Bristol City fan Ben Swift will be watching from this afternoon...

The Eastend Shedman, as he's now commonly known, has found the best - and cheapest - seat in the house this season thanks to the redevelopment of City's Ashton Gate stadium.

When the old steel East Stand was demolished during the summer - the first stage of the multi-million pound stadium refit - and with the help of a step ladder and a foot-up on the neighbours' fence, Swift has been able to watch the Robins in clear view, and for free, from his own home.

But, as the picture below shows, the scaffolding has gone up at Ashton Gate for the new stand, meaning Swift has to find himself a different vantage point this afternoon.
