Tattz in Nottingham: All this 'where would Spurs be without [insert player name]' is just plain silly. You could say that about almost every team in the Premier League bar maybe Chelsea and Man City. This season I've heard that said about Lloris, Eriksen, Kane, Vertonghen, Adebayor....ok, maybe not the last one.

As Conor points out, Sheffield United need something special. Two goals in 45 second-half minutes for a start to force extra-time. And then they need a third to prevent Spurs from advancing through the away goals rule.

Dr. Eke Eghosa Paul:, external Spurs definitely going to Wembley it seems. Somebody send mail to Chelsea. Where is Costa, I need some stamps...

Stuart Longley:, external With the exception of Lamela, Poch has got his line up spot on so far. Dembele, Eriksen and Kane have been excellent.

Joshua Kwanya:, external Can't wait to see how Chelsea will react at Wembley against Spurs after the 5-3 demolition.

Controversy in Spain where Atletico are awarded a dubious penalty after Juanfran is tripped by Javier Mascherano. The foul appears to be outside the box, but Raul Garcia doesn't mind and he dispatches the penalty confidently. We're back on aggregate level terms.

  7. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:32 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2015

Who fancies a Chelsea v Tottenham League Cup final? It's looking like an all-London showdown at Wembley on 1 March.

Another free-kick to Tottenham after Michael Doyle's foul on Ryan Mason. It's in a similar position to where Christian Eriksen opened the scoring. The Danish midfielder eyes up goal but hammers the ball into the wall.

Ambitious instinctive attempt by Mark McNulty but Sheffield United's leading scorer screws his efforts wide from 20-yards. The home fans are very quiet inside Bramall Lane.

StrveK, Swindon: When it comes to selling Spurs' best player (as usual) this summer Mr Levy will have a tough choice between Lloris, Kane and Eriksen. Hope he doesn't go nuts and sell all three.

This looks like one cup tie too many for Sheffield United. Nigel Clough's side are giving it everything but the League One side look so vulnerable at the back. Tottenham's 5,500 travelling fans are singing about Wembley as half-time approaches.

  12. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:24 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2015

Mike Dean has had enough. The referee brings out a yellow card as Kyle Walker commits one foul too many. Tottenham are well in control as the heaviest snow of the evening falls on Bramall Lane. Not so much a winter wonderland for the home fans right now.

Mousa Dembele is flat out after colliding with Michael Doyle. The Sheffield United man is fortunate to escape a yellow card. Frustration creeping into the home side's play.

Another chance for Tottenham and it's Harry Kane again cutting into the Blades area. He beats one defender before forcing a save. He could have had a hat-trick by now. And we're still over 10 minutes away from the interval.

Nathan Bright: That is an absolute stonker of a free-kick. Eriksen is doing it time and time again for Spurs. Where would they be without him?

Pieter Troffaes: That's pretty much perfect, wasn't it?

So, Spurs lead 2-0 on aggregate. There's still enough time for the League One hosts to claw their way back into this but they're going to have to up their game. One thing is certain. This tie can't go to penalties now.

  17. "A goal of supreme quality!"published at 20:16 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2015

    Kevin Kilbane
    BBC Radio 5 live

"A goal of supreme quality, absolutely brilliant! It was pinpoint. Right into the top corner.

"What a finish! Absolutely outstanding! The trajectory on it, it was going way over the crossbar and then came down right at the last minute. You could not have placed it any better."

    What a beauty!

Tottenham win a free-kick just outside the Sheffield United area and Christian Eriksen steps up to bend the ball over the wall and into the back of the net via the post. Sublime. A moment of superb quality and United have it all to do.

Harry Kane is clean through before being forced wide. He has Erik Lamela in support but the Tottenham striker goes for goal and fires into the side netting. That was a waste.
