Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba almost has a second goal as he makes a fool of Jacopo Sala with some quick feet and curls in an effort from 20 yards which is saved by Rafael.

Free-kick to Juventus, which Andrea Pirlo fires low. It comes off the feet of one of the Verona players in the wall and lands to Martin Caceres, who fires wide.

    The hosts totally on top.

These teams actually played during the week in the Italian Cup. Juventus won 6-1. Will we see a repeat today? Probably the biggest surprise would be Verona scoring.

Andrea Pirlo's cross is headed over by Giorgio Chiellini, who wants a corner - he thinks it came off a Verona player. He might have a point.

    French Ligue 1

Marseille are drawing 0-0 with Guingamp in France. Marcelo Bielsa's side are level on points with Paris St-Germain in second - four points off leaders Lyon. Guingamp are 13th.

John McEnerney: How far Serie A has fallen when only one side (Juve) would give the big fish in the CL a decent game. Both Milans gone to the dogs!

If you came here for Juventus v Verona updates and not Grant Holt chat, apologies - but there's not loads happening in the game.

As I write that, Juve come forward with Paul Pogba and Alvaro Morata involved - the ball ends up at the feet of Carlos Tevez, who falls over after beating a couple of defenders.

Lewis Keeffe: Grant Holt and Heskey up front..... Klopp are you reading this?

Rich Crocker: Having a go at Grant Holt is fine, however having a go a broccoli is out of order

It was cauliflower, I like broccoli!

NCFCinside: I'll tell you what Verona need right now a big front man, someone Chiellini would struggle to handle... Grant Holt perchance?

Luckily for me, Verona's keeper Rafael de Andrade Bittencourt Pinheiro goes by the name of Rafael. I'd imagine I'll be typing his name a lot tonight.

Might just call him Raf by the end.

Kevin Logan: Who's Grant Holt? #banter

Things I didn't expect to happen in this live text - a lot of chat about Grant Holt.

Matt King: I wonder if Juventus's coach will be in trouble (fined) for not telling his team to ease up.

History isn't in Verona's favour either. They have never beaten the 'Old Lady' in Turin in Serie A. Juve have 21 wins and four draws in their meetings.

Andrea Pirlo forces a good save from Rafael with a free-kick. And then Martin Caceres goes close with a header. The champions are totally dominant.

John Jefferis: Pretty sure he has scored a lot more goals than you Emlyn. Those in glass houses etc.

If I wasn't allowed to criticise players better than me, this would just be a live text of "these 22 players are all fantastic athletes".

Alright lads, what's the rush? You've got another 83 minutes left. Paul Pogba lets Alvaro Morata's cross go past him to Carlos Tevez, who hits a fine curling effort past Rafael.

Barcelona close the gap on leaders Real Madrid to one point (although they have now played one game more than the capital side).

They are now three points clear of Atletico Madrid and six above Valencia.

I was hoping Juventus could wait until this Barcelona game was over to open the scoring. But Paul Pogba has other ideas with a brilliant effort into the bottom corner from 25 yards. Great start for the champions.

In injury-time now. Luis Suarez twists and turns past several Deportivo players in the box... and then rolls the ball straight at the Deportivo keeper.

Just seen Verona have numbers 93, 95 and 99 on the bench. And a number 71 and 77 in the starting line-up! Modern football, eh?
