Buttonnn: Southampton v Villa at the Dell in 2000. I was only six and cried when we scored - I had no idea what was happening.

Shawn Hearn: First game, England 0 Croatia 0. Friendly match. Walking into Wembley and seeing the pitch for the first time, my jaw dropped.

Charlie Keegan Cuss: My brother (seven) went to his first football match and got to meet Ali Al-Habsi last season.

Villa may have brought a few of their own fans to tears this season, never mind opposing fans.

"I don't think Mario Balotelli with his performances earns him his right to take a penalty. I'm not a Mario fan. I just get the impression that he's not particularly well liked in the dressing room. When you don't give everything in a game it's an insult. It will all end in tears with Mario."

The Daily Mail's back page also features the Chelsea Metro story, but the big picture is of Mario Balotelli, who again made the news this week.

    Daily MailImage source, Daily Mail

He scored the winning penalty in the first-leg of the Europa League last-32 tie against Besiktas on Thursday so he should be the hero, right? Well, remember this is Super Mario's world.

After the match he was criticised by club captain Steven Gerrard for taking the ball off stand-in skipper Jordan Henderson, who also wanted to take the spot-kick.

Well, according to the Daily Mail, his manager Brendan Rodgers is also not too happy, this time criticising Balotelli's work rate. Why always him?

  4. Falcao's futurepublished at 09:42 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2015

One more piece of news for Manchester United fans, and it concerns the future of striker Radamel Falcao.

Monaco have a number of "great clubs" interested in signing Falcao should Manchester United decide against making his loan deal permanent at the end of the season.

The Premier League club signed the Colombian, 29, on a season-long loan last September and have the option of paying £43.2m for him in the summer.

In an interview to run on Football Focus on BBC One at 12:10 GMT, Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev says: "I'm not worried for Falcao, he is a world-class striker. If Manchester United decide not take up the option at the end of the season, we have interest from other great clubs."

Carl Dunne: It was 1984, I was three years old watching the European champions at Anfield and it must have been all too much... I fell asleep.

Matt Brooks: Being too small to see the whole game but still seeing Ian Wright score through someone's armpit at Selhurst Park.

B: Being passed over the shoulders so all the kids were at the front of the terrace and could see. Different times.

  6. Dodgy statisticspublished at 09:36 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2015

We have seen that Louis van Gaal is a big fan of statistics in his news conferences. And he always has a dossier up his sleeve ready to disprove incorrect facts or statements thrown at him from journalists.

But it appears his research may be a bit skewed with his claim that his side are the best in the league over the last 20 matches.

Well Van Gaal is right. If you do not include Chelsea. Or Manchester City.

  7. 'In the last 19 or 20 matches, we are the best'published at 09:28 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2015

Louis van Gaal began his managerial career in England with a 2-1 home defeat by Swansea, but feels his Manchester United side have improved greatly since then as he prepares to face the Swans again today.

"We came from the United States (in pre-season) where we had won everything, so that was a big shock," said Van Gaal.

"After that we lost a lot of points even though we were the better team, because we couldn't score enough at that time.

"Now I believe that every player knows the philosophy of me and my staff. Everyone wants to follow that philosophy and you can see that in the team spirit of the team which is unbelievable.

"When you see the score of the last 19 or 20 matches we are the best team in the league."

    Daily TelegraphImage source, Daily Telegraph

The front page of the sport section in the Daily Telegraph has an interview with ex-Manchester United defender Gary Neville saying the club's fans should not be critical of Louis van Gaal tactics, as long as the side continues to keep winning. And speaking of Manchester United...

But before we look closer at today's matches, let's have a look at what is making the back pages of today's newspapers.

Unsurprisingly, the Metro incident involving Chelsea fans who prevented a black man from boarding a Paris train before their Champions League tie on Tuesday continues to dominate.

The back page of the Mirror features quotes from Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho and owner Roman Abramovich, saying they are "disgusted" and "ashamed" by the behaviour from a small section of the club's fans.

So Chelsea will go 10 points clear at the top of the table if they beat Burnley and Manchester City lose at home to Newcastle. Arsenal will move into the top four if they win at Crystal Palace as fourth-placed Southampton play Liverpool on Sunday.

At the bottom, Leicester do not play until Sunday and will be hoping Burnley and Aston Villa fail to beat Chelsea and Stoke respectively. Hull entertain QPR and the losers may well be in the bottom three at the end of the day.

  13. Great expectationspublished at 09:04 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2015

Expectation was high. It was the start of a new era.

After a miserable campaign under David Moyes, Louis van Gaal was the man tipped to bring the trophies back to Manchester United, the most successful English side of all time.

Unbeaten in six pre-season games and confidence was high. Then it happened. Stunned by Swansea. At home. One of the shock results of the season. On the first day of the season.

But a lot has changed. Now van Gaal says his side are the best in the league on current form. Expectation is again high.
