    Tottenham academy coach Bradley Allen

"It was worth a go and Nabil Bentaleb hit the ball as clean as a whistle. Adrian has had a tremendous season for West Ham, and he produced an acrobatic save there to tip the ball wide. Spurs' young players, like Bentaleb, are playing with a lot of confidence."

  2. GREAT SAVE!published at 12:07 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2015

What a strike! Nabil Bentaleb - who has never scored in the Premier League - tries one from 30 yards, a fizzing, swerving left-foot drive and Adrian has to be at full stretch to tip it away. Belting hit!

West Ham defender James Tomkins believes that the club will never please all of the fans as manager Sam Allardyce comes back under scrutiny.

Allardyce was a target for some fans following the FA Cup thrashing by West Brom last week, but Tomkins expects Big Sam to stay put.

"It doesn't faze us. Obviously that is out of our hands," Tomkins said when asked about Allardyce's position.

"We have to do what we do on the pitch, whoever takes charge of us next year. It doesn't matter whether it is the (current) manager or not.

"We just have to concentrate on the pitch and that's all we try and do. We don't talk about it much in the dressing room at all. The manager has been brilliant this year. Obviously the fans have taken their frustrations out (on him).

"I know the fans quite well through all the years, they expect the most. It's a big club and rightly so, they pay their money and travel all the way.

"They are all entitled to their opinions. Obviously you are not going to keep everyone happy, there is always going to be a bunch of fans who are going to show their disappointment in a different way."

    Tottenham academy coach Bradley Allen
BBC Radio London at White Hart Lane

"A cagey start. If this is a stop-start football match it will suit West Ham more than it will Tottenham. If Spurs can move the ball quickly and stretch their opponents, they will have more joy. With Harry Kane's movement, he tries to create space for the midfielders Ryan Mason and Nabil Bentaleb. That is where we'll see an intriguing battle this afternoon."

Prior to today, Christian Eriksen had started Tottenham's last 34 Premier League games. He's on the bench this afternoon after a full 90 minutes in the Europa League on Thursday night. Will they miss his creativity?

Almost certainly yes. Not much happening so far, West Ham midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate has the first 'shot' of the day but it's wild, wild, wild.

West Ham produced a crop of youngsters in the 1990s, from Joe Cole to Rio Ferdinand via Michael Carrick and Frank Lampard.

And Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino believes Harry Kane, Ryan Mason and co could signal a similar new era for Spurs.

"We hear in the past that West Ham had a lot of players in the academy who played in the first team - why can't we be like that?" Pochettino said.

"Our philosophy is to give young talent a chance if they deserve it.

"Why is not possible for us to have a lot players in the team from the academy? Are there more I expect to come through? Yes, we detect some players who have the ability to play in the first team in the future.

"It's not because their passport is English, it's if they have the ability to play, they deserve the opportunity."

    Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino says:

"Maybe a lot of things that happen now means we are in a good moment. But this is the present and we need to look forward to keep it going in the future."

On Eriksen's omission: "He had a lot of games and we need to manage our players in every situation to win the game. It's nothing special, but we have a very busy period and we have to manage the games."

  12. "Champions League a massive ask"published at 11:58 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2015

    MOTD2 Extra

Former Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas: "Qualifying for the Champions League was the goal Tottenham set out before the start of the season, they have now reached the League Cup final and they will desperately want to win that. It being against Chelsea adds further spice."

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson: "I have been impressed Tottenham, they have improved over the course of the season. In Mauricio Pochettino they have found a good manager, and Harry Kane's story has been exceptional, but to break into that Champions League is a massive ask."

  13. Postpublished at 11:57 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2015

More from West Ham manager Sam Allardyce, who is out for the rest of the season.

"We have got a full squad, other than Andy Carroll, and that's what you want. Hopefully we can march on to the end of season picking more points.

"Derbies are only good when you get a result and even better when you win away. We have not forgot we lost in the last minute on the first day of the season."

  14. Postpublished at 11:56 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2015

Here's West Ham manager Sam Allardyce:

"We have had some fantastic results this season and one disappointing game (the 4-0 FA Cup loss to West Brom last week).

"It's not the cup we are talking about now it's the Premier League and we have had an indifferent results spell at minute, but performances - especially against Manchester United, where we should have got three points - have been good.

"We have to challenge ourselves at Tottenham and be more clinical in front of goal. That is what we did here last season and we defended well."

  18. 'Mourinho complains have lost impact'published at 11:48 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2015

    MOTD2 Extra

Oliver Kay, chief football correspondent for The Times: "I thought Nemanja Matic's reaction was a red card reaction, there is no debate about that and there wasn't anything the referee could do. I do think there were poor decisions yesterday, but when Jose Mourinho reels off all his injustices about referees, I feel like it has lost its impact because he is doing it every time Chelsea lose."

  19. 'The referees are not doing well'published at 11:47 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2015

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho on Sky Sports: "The referees are trying, of course they are trying, but they are not doing well. It is not fair. That is not my opinion, that is in the eyes of everyone.

"How would I improve it? If the referee cannot see a penalty three metres in front of him, some official in front of a screen cannot miss it. If we want to protect the integrity and the honesty of referees. If we believe that mistakes - and I believe - are because of the unpredictability of the game then technology can help. If I was a referee I would welcome it.

"I spoke to the referee after the game, Mr Atkinson told me he didn't have the chance to see on TV the incidents. I asked him if he had any contact with people from outside of the ground, he said he had no feedback at all. He said that he didn't see any of the four incidents. He saw no reason for a penalty or a card in any of the actions."

  20. "Matic's reaction was natural"published at 11:46 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2015

    Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson
Match od the Day 2 Extra

"It was a natural reaction from Nemanja Matic. Forget about breaking his leg, that challenge could have been the end of his career, and that is obviously what was going through his mind. Also, for the referee not to have seen a tackle like that, it's actually frightening for the game."
