Everton manager Roberto Martinez: "It's disappointing as it has been a really tough two weeks. We showed that lack of cutting edge. Overall it was a pretty even game and I'm disappointed how we conceded the first goal as it is free header in the 18-yard box.

"I did feel that as a team we showed we had played a number of matches in a short period of time.

"The Europa League campaign is a bit obvious at the moment as it is a lot of games to play in a short period but as a club that is what we want, to play in Europe.

"The concern is a huge moment in the season, we have 10 games and we will treat them as finals. We are in this situation for many reasons but we are looking forward and up to get as high up in the table as we can.

"The desire and wanting for the result was there but the legs couldn't get there. We are ready to face the challenge straight on. We haven't got the results that our performances deserve.

"Everyone at the club, it's the moment to get together and make sure we finish the season strongly. We need bit of luck and momentum but it's not been that type of season."

Swansea manager Garry Monk: "Bafetimbi Gomis is fine. He went to hospital as a precaution but he is fine. That's the main thing.

"He just needed a minute but he was talking when he came off the pitch.

"We understand his history. He has had all the tests but it's just part of life for him."

"Everton will be safe, but is that good enough for Evertonians? The big distraction has been Europe, getting results, but that has the knock-on effect in the league. Recent league performances have been really poor, and Romelu Lukaku is out of form."

    Louis van gaalImage source, AP

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal: "I think we have dominated for 90 minutes, maybe our best match of the season, especially in an away match we deserved the victory.

"We didn't reward ourselves in the first half. It was a narrow escape because our rivals have won also so it's a rat race.

"We have created a lot of chances and could have scored much earlier. They also made two big chances and I think David de Gea rescued us at that time.

"It was a crazy run from Wayne Rooney, a lost ball, that shows the fighting spirit in this team. We want to win. All my changes were to win, not to hold the result."

    West Ham

West Ham manager Sam AllardyceImage source, Reuters

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce: "I believe the performance was magnificent. Their goalkeeper's performance made some fantastic saves. I think the goal is offside by a hair's breadth.

"These decisions need to go for you not against you. In saying all that we shouldn't have lost it in the chances we missed.

"We started the second half brilliantly, the keeper made some great saves, and it is a shame these are happening on a regular occurrence with no wins. We can only hope it turns in our favour quickly.

"The LMA is a fantastic professional body, with people who don't get listened to. We have fantastic ideas on how to improve the game but it is not going to happen. The authorities won't take us under their wing to help them change the game. We can keep pressing for more of an influence and can't give up."

Javel Bleach: All Liverpool won tonight was a +1 goal difference advantage on Arsenal, Man Utd and Spurs, against the team in 19th position. There's a long way to go.

Simon Parry: Despite lucky late winners and inevitable celebrations, best part of the night is Jonas Guiterrez returning to football.

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson to BBC Sport on his side being denied at least one penalty: "They are always big calls. But three in one night is a bit surprising, isn't it? I don't need to talk about those decisions because the fact you are interested in them means you have seen them and know the rules. I know what I think and I'm keeping it to myself.

"We played well, it was a disciplined performance. We have to make sure we take the positives from tonight's game - and there were plenty of those. I thought we could have played better at times but we were in the game all night."

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger: "We needed to be strong and get the ball down more, to get back to our game, and we did that better in the second half, I felt it was all us.

"We scored two but we could have scored more, we played very well in the second half, and our collective game as a group was good, the chances we created were good and we played with a lot of desire and belief, overall it was a very positive game."

    Liverpool

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson: "It is another massive three points from us and keeps the momentum going. I thought that Daniel Sturridge's movement and holding up of the the ball was excellent. We are getting back to what we were doing well last season with high-tempo pressing high up and pitch and then playing in between the lines."

Daniel Sturridge: "I feel good, I have felt good since I came back and am ready to play. I don't want to be eased back in, but that is was the manager wants."

When asked to elaborate on his monosyllabic answers about a penalty appeal he just shrugs and says: "What's the point? What's the point."

Manchester City manage Manuel Pellegrini: "It's been a difficult week but from the beginning we tried to dominate. It was very important to score our first goal when we did but we had more chances in second half and we improved.

"At 1-0 you are one ball away from drawing the game. It's very important to play well but the most important thing is to win."

"Leicester had two really good penalty appeals. Jeffrey Sclupp was first pushed over by Wilfried Bony, then a player was fouled on the line of the City area. City didn't have it all their own way, they didn't play well, they were lethargic and lacklustre but they got the result and they're still in the title hunt."

    Ashley YoungImage source, Reuters

Manchester United match-winner Ashley Young talking to BT Sport: "David De Gea was magnificent again tonight. It was a hard fought win. We knew we needed three points and got our just rewards.

"We heard of results, others winning around us so it was vitally important to get a win here. It was great work by Wazza (Wayne Rooney), the ball fell to my feet and I put it away.

"People are always going to question the biggest club in the world. We concentrate on ourselves, listen to the manager and coaching staff and don't listen to anyone else."
