"Mauricio Pochettino just might throw two or three of those substitutes on in the second half as they really go for this game. Plenty to look forward to."

Without wishing to go all Steven Seagal on you, the Celtic goal is increasingly under siege, with Craig Gordon saving from Danilo D'Ambrosio.

It could be a long second half for the 10 men of Celtic.

  3. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:47 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2015

Spurs should be ahead. But they are not thanks to Roberto Soldado's poor touch.

Andy in Armagh: In the blink of an eye Celtic's chances are all but gone. It will be a miracle that will go down in football legend if they manage to win from here.

Steve, Southport: Sturridge is showing glimpses of his old self. His old Chelsea self that is. Greedy and not using his nous to bring in other players.

"For Spurs, there is confidence and there is belief. That is where the manager deserves credit. With the squad he has had at his disposal he has chopped and changed and they are playing for him.

"If Spurs get a goal they will be in a strong position in this tie."

Fiorentina almost make Spurs pay for their shoddy finishing with a chance at the other end. Mario Gomez gets out the lob wedge to dink one over the top for the pace of Chelsea loanee Mohamed Salah. He gets away but shoots wide. Tricky angle but a very presentable chance.

If you want to play on Tuesdays and Wednesdays - and not Thursdays - you need to do better.

Chance! Olcay Sahan turns away from Kolo Toure on the left of the area, good feet, and a good strike too. Drilled true and straight but Simon Mignolet gets behind it and gathers it in.

That Tottenham miss was so bad, it's good. Definitely one to see to believe. It would have changed the whole complexion of the tie too.

    Roberto SoldadoImage source, Reuters

Roberto Soldado not having a great five minutes in the social media universe.

Cei Frampton: Soldado proving his worth there with a extremely difficult 2 yard pass..

David Whale: Soldado thought he was offside right? Please tell me a £26m striker thought he was offside & didn't just pass it to their keeper

Jack Ellacott: Off the top of my head, I can't think of another Spurs striker in recent history that fluffed as many good chances as Soldado.

Matt Cartwright: What was Soldado doing!!

Michael Louw: Harry Kane would have dealt with that with his eyes closed. Shambolic isn't even the word. Get Soldado off.

Celtic's task just got harder. Defender Virgil van Dijk sees a second booking coming his way and he's off.

From the subsequent free-kick Inter look certain to score but Craig Gordon makes an amazing one-handed save to stop Mauro Icardi's header.

Liverpool growing into the game now, it's almost like they listened to Brendan Rodgers' pre-match chat. Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling link up neatly inside the area, Sturridge has the chance to get an early shot away but turns once too many, and his shot is easily saved.

"It could be a confidence thing for Soldado, but he just has to go on and smash it into the goal, even go around the goalkeeper."

    Erik LamelaImage source, Reuters

Spurs have had a meltdown! They have to score! You do not get a better chance to score an away goal than this!

Fiorentina have a corner which is cleared and Erik Lamela springs the last line of defence with a clever clip over the top. Roberto Soldado and Nacer Chadli are clean through, totally clean through, they've got an entire half between them! It's like a clip from an Ian Rush best of.

It's a case of Soldado 'having too much time' as he runs in on goal. He could walk it in, but he tries to draw the keeper and then square for Chadli - but he completely fluffs his lines and the keeper collects. Awful.

"Erik Lamela's better performances have come in this competition and you can look at this evening as a good opportunity for him."

Better from Liverpool as they spring Raheem Sterling in behind the Besiktas defence, he's all alone though and wide out on the right, he holds on to it and tries to find the arriving cavalry - but he can't complete the pass.
