Everton are moving up to 14th in the Premier League table as it stands, nine points clear of the relegation zone.

QPR would remain four points adrift of fourth-bottom Sunderland.

Hull, who are 15th, are currently drawing 2-2 against visitors Chelsea after fighting back from two down. Follow that game here (but make sure you come back and join us).

QPR, back to 11 men as a sprinting Steven Caulker returns to the pitch, create another half chance. Charlie Austin's shot hits a dark Everton shirt, the ball loops towards Bobby Zamora, whose eyes light up. But he is beaten by leaping Everton keeper Tim Howard who gathers at the second attempt.

QPR momentarily down to 10 men as Caulker has his digit strapped up. In the meantime, play restarts with Leon Osman firing low at Rob Green, who saves at the near post.

Short break in proceedings as QPR defender Steven Caulker needs some medical treatment. Looks like a dislocated finger as the QPR physio appears to pop it back into place. Ouch.

QPR boss Chris Ramsey looks bemused as he skulks the Loftus Road touchline, arms folded. Charlie Austin has bailed the Hoops out many times over the past couple of seasons, but their top scorer can't keep a header down.

"It must be the first time Everton have really counter attacked and they have caught QPR. It was a really composed ball from Leon Osman to see the run of Seamus Coleman on the overlap and he has produced a superb finish. You worry that with the run that QPR have been on the life will drain out of them."

    QPR have dominated. Everton lead.

Seamus Coleman, with the precision of a compass, sidefoots Leon Osman's square ball into the top corner of the QPR net off the post. Home keeper Rob Green is stood motionless - he had no chance.

QPR free-kick, close to the touchline from about 40 yards. Joey Barton lofts it into the danger-zone, over everybody and into Tim Howards's hands.

We see our first glimpse of Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, who after being questioned earlier this year, has found some red-hot form. The 22-year-old Belgian has bagged three goals in his last three games, but is stopped in his tracks by an offside flag as he runs on to Darron Gibson's pass.

The QPR fans, knowing a win will put them just a point adrift of safety, are pumped for this match. They holler and shriek as Bobby Zamora collects another punt forward, but the ball won't sit for the forward as he tries to twist and turn past John Stones. But the Yorkshireman stays calm again to track his opponent before nicking the ball and striding out of defence. Classy stuff.

Joey Barton pumps forward a high ball for Bobby Zamora to gallop after. Zamora sniffs blood as he enters a footrace with John Stones, backing his strength rather than speed against the young England hopeful. But Stones does excellently to hold off Zamora and boot clear.

"I think teams have worked out how Roberto Martinez's teams are setup and realise they can get at them. That fantastic defensive record Everton had in the past and don't now has cost them, they've been vulnerable."

Back come Everton. The Toffees earn their first corner of a rather sunny afternoon in West London. Leighton Baines trots over and is told by referee Jon Moss to take the ball back a couple of inches into the quadrant. The home fans laugh at that one.

But Baines, with his 60s mod haircut looking particularly sharp, almost has the last laugh. His delivery to the near post is hooked over by Leon Osman. Close!

Groans from the home supporters as they see Bobby Zamora rather cumbersomely scoop over the Everton bar. But the ex-England man, who latched on to a flick from Charlie Austin in a central position inside the box, would have been offside anyway.

Matty Phillips accelerates into an inch of space of the right flank, allowing him room to whip in a dangerous cross. But James McCarthy, on his 50th Premier League start for the Toffees, is stood in the right place at the right time to head clear.

"If QPR are to maintain Premier League status they have to pick up wins at Loftus Road."

  17. Postpublished at 16:04 Greenwich Mean Time 22 March 2015

Encouraging start from the home side, who have spent much of the opening exchanges in the Everton half. In fact, I don't think Everton have had a touch inside the QPR half yet.

  18. Postpublished at 16:03 Greenwich Mean Time 22 March 2015

Bobby Zamora is a big old handful, isn't he? The QPR striker bustles into a bit of space and almost tees up Junior Hoilett. But the Canadian cannot get a clear sight of goal and Everton clear.

  19. KICK-OFFpublished at 16:00 Greenwich Mean Time 22 March 2015

QPR leading scorer Charlie Austin hears the whistle of ref Jon Moss for the first time, nudges the ball to team-mate Bobby Zamora - and that means it is game on!
