    Phil JagielkaImage source, PA

James Blood: Phil Jagielka's against Liverpool more important to the outcome and far harder to get right.

Laurence Labibi: Morgan Schneiderlin vs Newcastle. Hard to compare a team goal to an individual one, but I'd argue 40 passes from the team and a curling finish, requires a lot more than a long range shot from one player.

Ross Mitchell: Charlie Adam's goal wasn't even as good as Zamora's yesterday let alone goal of the season. Good hit, but if the keeper hadn't been so far out of position then it wouldn't have gone in.

You're a hard man to please Ross...

Charlie Adam from his own half? Perhaps you see that every week in the Northants Sunday Combination. Wind assisted, maybe...

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho: "It was a fantastic goal, every player in the world would like to score a goal like that. Diego Maradona to Lionel Messi to all these brilliant players. Not all of them did score that goal in their careers. Charlie Adam has condition for a 50-metre shot, so normally he would anticipate the moment we lost the ball but it's a great goal."

Adrian: Matt Phillips for QPR at Palace surely has to win GOTS, if the requirements are that the goal was important then it has to be Mata.

Ricardo: Juan Mata's goal at Anfield is goal of the season. A great goal, but also in such an important game.

  5. 'Once in a lifetime'published at 10:15 British Summer Time 5 April 2015

Stoke midfielder Charlie Adam: "I never knew I had that much power, to beat a quality goalkeeper like that is something special. One that I will always remember. It was one of them that sat up nicely and I saw the goalie off his line.

"I was lucky enough that it went in. Once in a lifetime this can happen to you, it's great on an individual level - a great way to get my 50th goal in English football - but the team lost and that is the disappointing thing."

  7. 'The best long-range Premier League goal I've seen'published at 10:10 British Summer Time 5 April 2015

    Former England captain Alan Shearer
    BBC Sport

"Charlie Adam's goal against Chelsea is just an unbelievable strike. It's great vision to see Thibaut Courtois off his line, and the connection is perfect.

"He knows it's good, I'm pretty sure, straightaway, when he's connected with it. It's just great, great ability.

"It's the best long-range goal I've seen in the Premier League, because it's the furthest, and because it's against one of Europe's best goalkeepers."

  8. Postpublished at 10:08 British Summer Time 5 April 2015

Charlie Adam has set the bar high in the goal of the season stakes with his 65-yard effort at Stamford Bridge.

He isn't the first man to score from his own half of course - David Beckham, Xabi Alonso and co have all done it - but was it the best?

Take a look here to relive some other truly memorable long-range goals...

If you were holed up in a wifi-free zone, maybe in a cell of some kind, at the in-laws or...no, I can't think of any other reason why you might have missed out on Charlie Adam's goal in Stoke's 2-1 defeat at Chelsea last night.

The Scot picked the ball up a good 10 yards inside his own half, looked up, cocked his hip and beat Thibaut Courtois. Stunning.

I wouldn't even say it was a lob. He hit it with a flat trajectory, superbly struck. Like Bubba Watson down the first at Augusta...

    Good morning to you all!

    Charlie AdamImage source, PA

I dare say there's a few of you waking up this Easter day with a slightly fuzzy head after making the most of the extended weekend break. But spare a thought for Stoke midfielder Charlie Adam, who must be dazed and confused as he skims through the Sunday papers in bed.

'Did I really score from 65 yards?! Against Chelsea?'

Yes Charlie. Yes you did. A wonder goal to end all wonder goals.

And Bobby Zamora was certain he'd scored the goal of the weekend as well...
