Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, who was jeered by some Saints fans on his first return to St Mary's to face his former club but was backed by the travelling Spurs supporters:

"I want to thank the Spurs fans because they were fantastic and I felt their support on the pitch. They touched me because they backed me a lot. When they sang my name it was the first time I had heard that from them and I appreciated that so much.

"I was focused on my job but was a very tough and emotional game for me. It was difficult because I still love Southampton and I have very good memories here."

  4. CLOSE!published at 15:17 British Summer Time 25 April 2015

Double chance for Swansea, who have suddenly come to life. First skipper Ashley Williams beats his marker to a corner but heads wide from eight yards out, and then seconds later the Swans come down the right, stand up a cross for Jefferson Montero to attack - but he too can't head on target.

Stoke aren't just knocking on the door - they are booting a big size nine against it.

Stephen Ireland sees a shot deflected just wide off Sebastian Coates. You would not put much on this Sunderland defence staying water-tight until 90 minutes.

Aidan Mifsud: The Premier League would be a happier place without Hull and Sunderland

Gary Hunter: Sunderland winning after 50 seconds, unsure how to react

Yani Kapitanov: Certainly hope Sunderland stay up. They are the most unpredictable team in England.

  7. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 25 April 2015

Leicester have a good shout for an early penalty waved away! Burnley striker Lukas Jutkiewicz is back defending and as he goes up for a header he closes his eyes, the ball landing on his outstretched arm. A very good appeal and Jamie Vardy was particularly incensed.

Mario Balotelli is putting in a shift - at least in the first fifteen minutes.

The Liverpool striker chases back to regain possession and then has a powerful shot blocked on the edge of the box by Gareth McAuley. A hint of hand in there, but Roger East is happy that it was nothing the Baggies defender could do about it.

"You can't look too far ahead at this stage of the season. You can only think about one game at a time because anything can happen between now and the next game, so teams have to be winning now."

  10. CLOSE!published at 15:14 British Summer Time 25 April 2015

Newcastle's best move of the game sees Ayoze Perez drift a header into the side-netting.

Tranmere, bottom of the Football League, are behind already at Plymouth - Reuben Reid converting a seventh-minute penalty.

Already-promoted Burton are 1-0 up on Northampton through Lucas Akins.

QPR can clamber out of the bottom three with a win and they have started pretty well, both sides are up for it though with some tasty challenges in the opening stages.

Having fallen behind, Stoke rouse themselves with Jonathan Walters warming Sunderland goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon's palms with a powerful effort.

    The Potters are pressing hard.

"Sunderland have gone for a straight two up top and played Will Buckley in behind. It seems to have worked."

Hull are doing their best to shoot themselves in the foot at Selhurst Park.

An awful bit of defending - as Michael Dawson flops to the floor apparently trying to win a free-kick off team-mate James Chester - almost lets in Glenn Murray.

Steve Harper gets off his line quick to spread and smother though.

It's a fairly tame game in the north east thus far. These sides started the day in 14th and eighth respectively. It may not be a totally dead rubber, but it's close.

Newcastle have lost their last six and you can see why.

  17. Postpublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 25 April 2015

Second-placed Preston get off to the perfect start at Deepdale - League One Player of the Year Joe Garner lobbing them in front after just two minutes against Swindon.

  18. Postpublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 25 April 2015

Both sides know the importance of a win today and as a result the early stages have been open, not the tense, nervy affair I was expecting. No clear-cut chances yet though - as Jason Shackell makes an excellent clearing header from inside his goalmouth.

  19. Postpublished at 15:07 British Summer Time 25 April 2015

Liverpool are on the ball plenty in the early stages at the Hawthorns. Raheem Sterling looks like he has shaken off that ankle sprain he suffered in the warm-up.

Craig Gardner gets off the first effort in anger though - a skidding effort heading wide from 20 yards.

"Burnley have got problems scoring, but Leicester come here on the back of three wins so the home side are going to have to keep calm and play with confidence.

"It looks like Leicester are playing with three centre-backs and two wing-backs and two up front."
