That's a wrap for this live page tonight. Thanks for your company as ever, congratulations if your team had a good day, and if your side went down I know there are no words of comfort.

You won't think so now but come July and pre-season you'll be buzzing again...

Manchester City have somehow won it. A thrilling conclusion to the game. Tim Sherwood looks gutted.

Nobody can defend in the Premier League! Another poor goal from a corner, the ball carries through to Fernandinho, who takes the ball on his chest and stabs home from close range.

Newcastle, Liverpool, Burnley, Man City fans - it could be worse. Spare a thought for Alfreton fans who went to Bristol Rovers today, lost 7-0 and went down on goal difference.

    A horrible day out.

    Never write off Tim Sherwood...

Peter Gilbert:, external Should Villa be relegated this season, the blame should rest solely on Lambert. They're a different team under Sherwood

Paul Moore:, external Never mind worrying about an atmosphere at the Etihad. Man City look awful! Being dominated by Villa, Really, really!

  7. GOALpublished at 19:13 British Summer Time 25 April 2015

Aston Villa do come back! Joe Hart punches out a corner, unconvincingly, and Carlos Sanchez is able to hook the ball back into the net! Villa come from 2-0 down.

  9. BARNET BACK IN THE FOOTBALL LEAGUEpublished at 19:10 British Summer Time 25 April 2015

Congratulations to Barnet, who have won promotion back to the Football League and won the Conference title after beating Gateshead 2-0.

Into the last 10 minutes at the Etihad. A funny game, no side really threatening after that little flurry of action.

    Robbie Savage
BBC Radio 5 live on 606

"It's the big games that Liverpool just can't get wins in. I think they need two strikers.

"Is Daniel Sturridge going to be play full season? Mario Balotelli came on at half-time last week and started today so what does that say about Rickie Lambert & Fabio Borini? They need two top drawer strikers if they are going to compete."

The Brendan Rodgers debate is showing no sign of a let up either

James W: Am I going be the only one to stand up for Rodgers? People are forgetting how rubbish we were before he took over. He has repeatedly shown that he can make the big calls (changing to three at the back) and there's no better manager in the world for developing youth. Give him time to learn and reinvent this team again.

Tom in Manchester: Liverpool fans thinking they'll get Klopp...hilarious!

Three shots on target in the whole game, three goals. Into the last 20 minutes, City going second as it stands.

  14. GOALpublished at 18:55 British Summer Time 25 April 2015

I didn't see that coming! Villa back in it as Joe Hart comes for a free-kick and doesn't get there, he is marooned in no man's land and Tom Cleverley hits a bobbling effort past him from 20 yards for his first Villa goal.

George Baldock:, external No word of a lie, Grimsby Town's supporters make more of an atmosphere than Manchester City. They've turned into a plastic club

Owen Chamberlain:, external Problem with Liverpool is that they lost one of the worlds best players and replaced him with ermmmm Balotelli

  16. GOALpublished at 18:53 British Summer Time 25 April 2015

Manchester City extend their lead as left-back Aleksandar Kolarov curls a free-kick over the wall, low and into the net. Got a bit of top-spin off the turf for good measure.

Who will get the Newcastle job in the summer? All the talk a few months ago was about former Arsenal midfielder Remi Garde but that grapevine has gone pretty quiet...

George in Stafford: I have no sympathy whatsoever for Newcastle fans. They treated Pardew poorly and they are now reaping what they sowed. Be careful what you wish for!

Rob in Bath: Re: Matt - 'passionate' Geordies deserve to go down, their lack of support of the team and their previous manager means they are as much to blame for the situation as the players. Can't ever claim they support through thick and thin, clearly only through the thick.
