  1. 'His talents were overlooked on purpose'published at 12:54 British Summer Time 26 April 2015

    MOTD2 Extra

Times football writer Alyson Rudd on the transformation of Marouane Fellaini: "It looked like the worst transfer ever. It became the symbol of what had gone wrong at United.

"The talents he did have were almost overlooked on purpose. I think it's one of the great stories of the past couple of seasons that he has been able to cope with that.

"I was at the Hawthorns when he came on [scoring in a 2-2 draw last October] and from that moment on I think Louis van Gaal has thought 'oh, he's quite useful'."

    Steven Reid
    Burnley defender on MOTD2 Extra

On Burnley's fight for survival: "We've almost been underdogs all season. There's been a perception that Burnley will come straight back down. But that gives you motivation

"I've been in dressing rooms where there are points targets on the board. But under Sean Dyche the message is each game at a time."

  4. 'Tickets must be cheaper'published at 12:43 British Summer Time 26 April 2015

Everton's Steven NaismithImage source, Getty Images

Forward Steven Naismith has, as usual, given four Everton fans tickets for today's meeting with Manchester United and the Scotland international and all-round good guy has today spoken passionately about the danger of pricing ordinary supporters out of the game.

"They can't just keep increasing ticket prices because more and more fans just can't afford to go to the games," the 28-year-old told the Sunday newspapers., external "Before we know it, clubs will be playing in front of half-empty stadiums, so it is now becoming an issue that has to be addressed.

"Clubs are going to benefit massively from the new TV deal, so surely the game has got to take a step back and realise that football is a working man's sport. We have got to look at different ways of pricing tickets and distributing them."

Is the PFA's team of the year really the best XI of the season?

Tom Mason: Absolute joke that Jose Fonte of Southampton isn't in. Also Aguero has to be in ahead of Costa

Tom Colman: Pretty much spot on for PFA team of year. Little surprised to see Cahill, maybe Koscielny, or Fonte because of Saints' defensive record

Andy Robinson: Great to see Bertrand in there but amazed how Southampton have one defender despite having best defence in country. No Fonte?!

Kelvin: If Carrick wasn't injured for most of the season then he'd beat Matic or Coutinho hands down

An interesting non-league tale broke last night, with North Ferriby United defender Nathan Peat claiming the FA Trophy winners are facing voluntary relegation from the Conference North.

Peat, one of several players to post messages on the subject on social media on Saturday, said the club could be demoted "one, maybe two leagues".

North Ferriby are owned by Eman and Steve Forster, the daughter and son-in-law of Hull City owner Assem Allam. The pair have been in charge since late 2013 but announced the club was for sale on 16 April.

  8. 'Some players are fresh in the mind'published at 12:30 British Summer Time 26 April 2015

    Steven Reid
    Burnley defender on MOTD2 Extra

On players selecting their PFA team of the season: "If you're a player ending the season strongly, you may be fresh in people's minds. But someone who starts the season well and drifts off may miss out."

  9. 'No Fabregas is astonishing'published at 12:27 British Summer Time 26 April 2015

    MOTD2 Extra

Times football writer Alyson Rudd on the PFA team: "I am slightly staggered that Southampton are under-represented in the team of the year because they have the best defence in the league and have impressed everyone this season.

"To reflect that you could probably not put a striker in but you could put a defender in and I would put Jose Fonte in.

"And no Cesc Fabregas is astonishing. He has the most assists and it's over the whole season - not just the last six weeks."

    MOTD2 Extra

Steven Reid's Burnley are rock bottom of the Premier League. So is there a side outside the bottom three that can be caught?

"At the moment you're looking to get to 35 points. Teams above that are safe. It's difficult when you're relying on results elsewhere.

"You find yourself looking at fixtures of the teams around you and you almost forget you need to go out there and get some results. You look at Leicester, they were dead and buried, but you can take heart from the run they are on."

Some strong opinions on the PFA's team of the year. Keep them coming...

Sam Beeston: Coutinho has only been good for the last few months, someone like Sigurdsson who has eight goals and 10 assists - he should be in it

Adrian: How did Cahill get in team of the year? Shouldn't even be in England squad, he's had a horrible season on a personal level

Jack Lucey: OMG Can't believe Sergio Aguero did not make PFA team of the year!

  13. 'Villa much better under Sherwood'published at 12:17 British Summer Time 26 April 2015

    Former England captain Alan Shearer
    Match of the Day

"Villa are a totally different proposition under Tim Sherwood. He's got them playing better football. They're more direct. They get the ball into Christian Benteke quicker and are creating more chances. They're a much better team.

"I thought Villa were the better side against City. They had more possession and more shots on target. But silly mistakes cost them."

  14. 'Hart should have been off'published at 12:15 British Summer Time 26 April 2015

    Former England defender Martin Keown
    Match of the Day

"Tim Sherwood is right to have a complaint against the decision to give offside against Christian Benteke.

"There's absolutely no way he is offside when Charles N'Zogbia plays him through. At 2-2, it was a chance to put Villa ahead. Joe Hart would have been sent off for bringing him down, and there's no way I could have seen Manchester City getting back into the game.

"Joe Hart just takes Benteke out. The linesman's got that wrong."

Fernandinho scores for Man CityImage source, Getty Images

It took a late winner and a beneficial call from the officials, but Manchester City have - for now anyway - moved back into second place in the Premier League after this nervy 3-2 win.

Fernandinho's 89th-minute winner earned the three points after City spurned a two-goal lead. But relegation-threatened Villa were left to bemoan an apparently incorrect offside decision with the score at 2-2, Christian Benteke being flagged after goalkeeper Joe Hart fouled him in the act of shooting.

Not that Tim Sherwood thinks his Villa side are in danger of the drop...

Who will win the PFA Player of the year Award? We asked Steven Reid.

"When we get the forms to vote for the PFA awards, the lads sit down and throw a few ideas around. There may be a name you didn't think about. It's always a decent thing to do and it's the award players savour the most.

"I went for Eden Hazard. He has been a major factor in Chelsea's position this season. He has performed in big games - some players don't do it in big games, but he's shown he is a big-game player.

"I went for Harry Kane as young player. He's been first-class, has seized his opportunity and has an affinity with Tottenham. I think a few players will split their votes between Hazard and Kane across the senior and young player categories."
