"For me, in terms of great managers, I look at Jose Mourinho and what he did at Porto, that was a great achievement. Wherever he has been he has been successful. He might not be everyone's cup of tea, but sometimes people might be a little jealous."

"When you look at the likes of Isco, Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez, Real still have enough attacking flair which can create chances. Atletico are dogged and will try to upset Real by trying to break up play, there will be niggly fouls and it will be fascinating. But will Atletico be able to score and will one goal be enough?"

Whistles and jeers greet the Atletico players as they go through their warm-ups.

The home fans demand another European Cup. And they must be sick of not beating Atleti...

"There's nothing between the teams. Atletico are as good as any team in Europe defensively and they will fancy it tonight. They won't be intimidated. I like the way Diego Simeone sets them up - they are rugged and dogged but have real quality too."

John from London: Really hope Atletico get through today. A club that shows buying players with big price tags isn't always the answer.

  9. Scottish football latestpublished at 19:10 British Summer Time 22 April 2015

There's another night of action under the spring sunshine in Scottish football, where the main event is in the Premiership, where Dundee host leaders Celtic, while there is also an important game in the Championship, with Livingston hosting Hibernian.

At Dens Park, Celtic and Dundee both play their final game before the Premiership splits into two sections of six teams. A victory for Celtic and the Glasgow side will stretch their lead at the top of the table over Aberdeen to eight points with five games remaining.

At Livingston, Hibs are looking to narrow the gap on second-top Rangers to one point, while the home side can move to within a point of second-bottom Alloa Athletic as they look to avoid relegation.

Only the 11 men and Carlo Ancelotti really know though. The world will find out in 35 minutes.

Just the one game in the Football League tonight and without wishing to put a dampener on things it's a bit of a dead rubber.

Reading host Birmingham, both sides are safe and neither can trouble the play-offs. Put the youth team out.

Whisper it quietly but a 0-0 draw tonight would see us go to penalties. It's the only scoreline that would.

Kaka missed from the spot when Real lost a shootout to Bayern Munich in 2012. Now he plays up front with Martin Paterson. Be warned!

    Fourteen ties have gone to penalties, including six finals - 1996, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2008 and 2012.

The first two-legged tie decided on spot kicks was PSV Eindhoven's 4-2 victory over Lyon on 13 April 2005 after a 2-2 aggregate draw.

  20. The best team v the best individuals?published at 18:55 British Summer Time 22 April 2015

A reader last week summed up the clash of these sides nicely when they pointed out that Real had all the best individuals but Atletico were the best 'team' in Europe.

They work so hard, it is tiring to watch. Like a Spanish Burnley.

Add in the fact that Real are missing several of those key individuals and it promises to be truly interesting stuff...
