Atletico Madrid won La Liga last season. Given the dominance of Barcelona and Real, that was an awesome achievement.

On the Real side, Sergio Ramos, Fabio Coentrao and Toni Kroos are all one booking away from a suspension.

Atletico have Cristian Ansaldi, Gabi, Jesus Gamez, Raul Garcia and Fernando Torres on the tightrope. Don't dive in lads...

  7. Team newspublished at 18:43 British Summer Time 22 April 2015

It's seven changes in all for tonight's derby - with Real, in particular, badly affected by injuries. There's no Gareth Bale, no Karim Benzema, no Luka Modric while Marcelo drops out. In come Pepe, Fabio Coentrao, Isco and Javier Hernandez. Not the worst replacements in the world.

For Atletico, Guilherme Siqueira, captain Gabi and Mario Suarez are replaced by Jesus Gamez, Tiago Mendes and Angel Correa.

Real XI: Casillas; Carvajal, Pepe, Varane, Coentrao; Isco, Ramos, Kroos, Hernandez, Ronaldo, Rodriguez

Atletico XI: Oblak, Juanfran, Miranda, Godin, Gamez, Tiago, Koke, Saul, Arda, Griezmann, Mandzukic

  9. Ramos v Mandzukicpublished at 18:40 British Summer Time 22 April 2015

We had a good old-fashioned tussle in the first leg as Atletico centre-forward Mario Mandzukic and Real defender Sergio Ramos traded blows throughout.

Mandzukic was not happy at all by an early challenge which left him bleeding, and the Croatian put Ramos on the deck as soon as he got back on the pitch.

Sports daily Marca have coined a new word in today's edition: "Cristianodependencia" (Cristiano dependence).

They say that Real's hopes rest on Cristiano Ronaldo's shoulders, given injuries to the likes of Karim Benzema, Luka Modric and Gareth Bale.

I think they have depended on Ronaldo ever since he got off the plane - but even more so tonight.

  12. Real to make history?published at 18:33 British Summer Time 22 April 2015

Holders Real are hoping to see off their rivals tonight and move a step closer to the final in Berlin.

No team has successfully defended the Champions League trophy, with Milan (1989, 1990) the last club to pick up consecutive European Cups. Milan (1994, 1995), Ajax (1995, 1996), Juventus (1996, 1997) and Manchester United (2008, 2009) have all returned to the final as holders only to lose.

  19. Who's out?published at 18:25 British Summer Time 22 April 2015

Real boss Carlo Ancelotti admitted on Tuesday that he has 'the best squad in the world.'

And he'll need it tonight, as several key men are unavailable.

Gareth Bale is out. He lasted just a few minutes of last weekend's game against Malaga before limping off with a calf problem and Karim Benzema has a knee injury, leaving Cristiano Ronaldo, Javier Hernandez and Jese Rodriguez as Real's fit forwards.

The delightful Isco could also play in the front three tonight, though he may be used deeper as Luka Modric is also injured.

Real Madrid's quest for excellence has seen them give each player a sleeping plan and ensuring they can all have a good nap every afternoon. For many, that must be the ultimate perk. Being paid (millions) to get some kip.

Staff at Google can live in the office and wash their clothes, even play the piano. Whether or not that's a good thing is another matter.
