Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana banged the drum this week, claiming that, after losing their last three games, Manchester United would continue to haemorrhage points and might slip from fourth., external

The Reds travel to Chelsea tomorrow.

If United come a cropper against Palace this tea-time, maybe Liverpool might be inspired to overturn a Chelsea side who have had a bit of time off this week.

But that top four looks like a closed shop to me.

Who said nice guys can't prosper?

West Ham, Everton or Burnley could play in next season's Europa League after the Premier League was granted an extra place because of fair play.

England finished second in Uefa's Fair Play table, earning an extra spot in the first qualifying round. That place will go to the team that tops the Premier League's fair play rankings, which is currently Liverpool.

The Reds could reach Europe via their league placing so the second, third or fifth-placed teams could join them.

A deliberate wind-up? Or just a bit of dodgy hearing with a side order of brain fade?

Either way this clip of Arsene Wenger, external in his press conference yesterday is one for Arsenal fans to enjoy.

Wenger is asked about Mauricio Pochettino and replies "who?". The journalist repeats the name, but it is only when he adds, a little sheepishly, "Tottenham manager" that the penny appears to drop for Wenger.

Who then looks a little sheepish himself.

If you were in charge, what would be your football manifesto?

Isaac Johnson: In my manifesto for QPR I would; change the badge, thick hoops on the shirt, lower wages and stop playing Henry on the left.

Alex Mays: At NUFC, any manifesto would be better than the current regime under Ashley+Charnley. Would be happy if the players just tried.

Lloyd Hamilton: I'd promise fans a 'home' game in a different country each season. Lots of fans in different places but no €£ to travel!

Yep, Newcastle are bang in trouble.

Fortunately, with just two points separating them from the drop with three games to go, they have the "best coach in the Premier League" on the case.

At least that is what John Carver believes. About himself.

Then again former director of football Joe Kinnear , external"could open the door to any manager in the world" while Sam Allardyce believed that seven months in charge at St James Park was the sort of thing that could propel him on to the Real Madrid job.

Things don't get much better for Newcastle fans do they?

As if eight Premier League defeats on the bounce isn't bad enough, they have a manager accusing one of his players of getting sent off deliberately and have just had Derby boss Steve McClaren turn down the managerial job.

Skipper Fabricio Coloccini wrote an open letter to fans calling for unity as the club battles to stay in the Premier League this week - something club legend Alan Shearer has called disappointing.

He told Football Focus: "First and foremost, the players have got to give the fans something to shout about. That has to come first and for a long time the fans haven't had anything to shout about."

J.l. Roberts: Pay players just the minimum, with bonuses paid for performances. Bonuses for starts, minutes played, goals, assists, successful crosses, passes or tackles, clean sheets, wins, etc.
