    It's an age-old footballing maxim. Don't write off the Germans.

    They never know when they're beaten. From the 1954 World Cup final to the 1970 quarters, the national team had made a habit out of it, while at club level Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have produced stirring comebacks in recent years.
