Fancy from Mario. Balotelli collects the ball from Raheem Sterling's low cross from the left with his back to the goal. The striker attempts an audacious backheel but it is straight at goalkeeper Steve Harper. Decent thinking though.

"This is actually a very good game to watch. Both sides are going for it and wanting to win."
Another chance for Hulls' big men to get forward as Martin Skrtel clumsily downs Sone Aluko near the bye-line on the left. Robbie Brady's free-kick is punched away by Simon Mignolet and James Chester's weak header from the second cross is easy for the goalkeeper.

"It's getting a bit better from Liverpool, some good quality crosses in there. You can see a bit more invention and belief."
BBC Radio 5 live presenter Mark Chapman tweets:, external The Liverpool protest has cut through. Away end half full at best at Hull City.
Clever by Liverpool. Jordan Henderson's corner from the right is played to the near post, dummied by Jordon Ibe, and Philippe Coutinho meets the ball with a powerful volley. His shot is well parried by Steve Harper and the ball is scrambled clear.
No goals to report yet at the New York Stadium. An edgy start to the match as Rotherham hope to pick up the win that will relegate both Wigan and Millwall.
Former Rotherham boss Ronnie Moore on 5 live sports extra: "The gulf is unbelievable between League One and the Championship - and staying up would be a huge achievement for the Millers."
Jordan Henderson is furious as he is penalised for raising his foot on Stephen Quinn. Robbie Brady delivers the ball poorly from 40 yards out but Martin Skrtel panics and heads wide for a corner.
Chance for the Tigers...

"Coutinho looks the best player in the Liverpool team at the moment. His movement is good and his head is always up. I would suggest he is a better all round player than Sterling but if you add the pace Sterling has got, in the modern game it gets you an extra 50 grand a week."
David Ivett: Huge Swindon fan for tonight. Colchester win puts us (Notts County) back in the drop zone. Come on Swindon!!!
Not going well then, with Colchester currently one goal to the good.
Brilliant by Philippe Coutinho as he slips the ball behind Hull's defence and into Glen Johnson's path down the left. The defender miscues his cross though into the hands of goalkeeper Steve Harper, with Mario Balotelli waiting.
Liverpool have no title in 25 years. Bournemouth are a Premier League club. These are big turn ups. But what is the biggest turn up in the top flight in the last 25 years?
Gavin Smith:, external Norwich City fighting to win Premier League in '93?
Rick Ashton:, external Blackburn Rovers going from 2nd division to Premier League champions in three seasons will never be matched.
Cameron Westwood:, external Newcastle United finishing 3rd in 1994, the year after promotion from the old First Division. This is something that will NEVER ever be achieved again by any newly promoted club.

An awful touch by Glen Johnson gifts Hull possession in the centre of the park as the hosts come forward again. No damage is done though as Hull's attack breaks down. All very bitty early on.
A frantic opening but Liverpool are trying to take the sting out of things with a phase of patient play. The Tigers aren't giving them much time though as they chase and harry everything early on.
Why is Balotelli playing tonight?
Russell LFC Fan: It's shop window time, come on Balo, put in a decent performance.
Matty B, Skelton: Rogers is clearly playing Balotelli in the hope that he might have a good game and stand a chance of recouping a few million in the summer.
Jafer, Liverpool fan in Birmingham: I miss Luis Suarez. So, so much.

"A great cross from the left, good pace on it, N'Doye is seven yards out and you could argue he should score there. It was straight at Mignolet. Certainly the best chance of the game so far."
Hull should be ahead. Sone Aluko shows some trickery to get down the left flank and his cross is perfect for the unmarked Dame N'Doye just eight yards out from goal. The Senegal striker though can only head straight at goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, who parries away. Either side of the goalkeeper and that is the opener.
Mario Balotelli enjoys a moan doesn't he? The Liverpool striker has disagreed with pretty much everything that has happened so far and we are only five minutes in.
Dangerous free-kick to Hull 30 yards out but Robbie Brady's delivery is headed away by Martin Skrtel.

"At best the Liverpool away end is half full."
