I expect there were a few sore heads on the south coast this morning after Bournemouth all but secured their place in the top flight for the first time ever.

Only defeat, a Middlesbrough win and a 20-goal swing on the final day of the season can deny them a top-flight spot - it just isn't going to happen.

Just seven years ago, the Cherries almost went out of business.

    Some rise eh?

A Madrid team is visiting the Camp Nou tonight. OK, it isn't that Madrid team. Nevertheless, that doesn't mean the visit of capital-based side Getafe is not one for Barca trio Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Gerard Pique to feel excited about.

That's because the Catalan giants need a win to stay ahead of arch-rivals Real Madrid in the Spanish title race. Three points for Luis Enrique's men will move them five clear of Los Merengues, who host Almeria on Wednesday.

  4. Top flight turn upspublished at 18:42 British Summer Time 28 April 2015

It is 25 years since Liverpool last won the Division One title, a day after Bournemouth sealed their place in the Premier League for the first time.

Did anyone predict the Reds wouldn't win the championship in a quarter of a century? What has been the biggest top-flight turn up in that time?

By the way, Happy Anniversary Liverpool fans.

It is 25 years ago to the day that the Reds won the last of their 18 league titles.

The Daily Mail, external has worked out they have spent £770m since and signed 190 players.

That 2-1 win over QPR must seem a long time ago now...

Not that tonight is all about the relegation zone.

Liverpool know a defeat and their slim hopes of finishing in the Premier League top four - and earning Champions League football for next season - would be all but over.

The Reds are seven points behind fourth-placed Manchester United, with five games to play.

It's still on for Brendan Rodgers & co - just.

Good evening. Feeling nervous yet Hull City fans?

The Tigers entertain Champions League-chasing Liverpool tonight, just one point clear of the Premier League relegation zone.

There look to be six teams right in the mire - up to Aston Villa in 14th - although Newcastle United fans will be looking anxiously over their shoulders one place above after a disastrous recent run.

Bournemouth and Watford are already plotting their trips to the likes of Old Trafford and Anfield, but who will replace them in the Championship?

  8. The fight for survivalpublished at 18:32 British Summer Time 28 April 2015

Not the most appealing job advert in the world is it?

It doesn't even mention the loss of your best players, a drop in attendance, more league matches and a substantial pay cut.

That will be the reality facing three Premier League teams by the end of the season though.

    The race is on.

  9. Clubs wanted for the Championshippublished at 18:05 British Summer Time 28 April 2015

Wanted: Three Premier League clubs to drop into the Championship.

Job description: Teams that drop down usually have a dodgy defence and misfiring attack. Plenty of heart but a lack of bottle when it matters.

Salary: Significantly less money than you are on but your current employers will chip in to make sure you get paid more than the other clubs in this league.

Prospects: Mixed. Some teams relish the new environment but a lot find it very difficult to return to where they came from.

    Deadline: Sunday 24 May.
