  1. 'I'd love to come back'published at 18:41 British Summer Time 10 May 2015

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard speaks to BBC Sport: "It was a nice touch [from the Chelsea fans]. I know they've absolutely murdered me for years because I never signed here. It was nice touch but I'm well aware it was only a moment. I've had great support from the Liverpool fans, that's all that matters to me.

"It's very difficult at the moment. It's going to be difficult to let go. I've been here 27 years. I'm walking away with my held held high, I'm really proud of what I achieved here. Some lows too but it's a part of being a footballer. I grew up in the city dreaming of representing the club and I've achieved more than I thought I would.

"I'd love to come back in some capacity. That's out of my control. Liverpool's in my heart. I'll support from afar for a couple of years. When I return in a couple of years, whoever's in charge of the club, it's down to them."

  2. Postpublished at 18:36 British Summer Time 10 May 2015

Steven Gerrard has been back out to face the cameras once more and says that he is finding his last few weeks of playing difficult, he'd love to come back to the club in a different role some day and he's achieved more than he ever thought he would at Liverpool.

    Full quotes to come.

  4. 'The applause was amazing'published at 18:24 British Summer Time 10 May 2015

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho talks to BBC Sport: "It was a proper game. It was not a pre-season game. Both teams were trying to get a result. Was Chelsea at their top? No. But were they at a level where we show we want to compete? Clearly. It's normal, people like Jon Mikel Obi, Loic Remy, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, many weeks without playing, in the second half they felt it. The second half was a bit difficult for us but we competed for what we have to compete for, the dignity of the Premier League."

On the ovation for Steven Gerrard: "I'm so happy with that. The negative song Chelsea fans sing for him is respect for an old, dear enemy that fought so much against us in every competition. After that, the standing applause is amazing. To get it at Anfield he gets it week in week out, year after year but away from home it shows a lot.

"Moments like that and when Crystal Palace come here and fight and win, Burnley fight like lions, us losing at home to a League One team in Bradford, moments like that make this country special."

  5. 'It's been a privilege'published at 18:21 British Summer Time 10 May 2015

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers to BBC Sport: "I've worked with Steven Gerrard now for nearly three years. I knew from the outside he was one of the best of a generation but when you come in and work with him it's been a great privilege.

"I worked here for four years with John Terry. He is the best centre-half in the league in his years. A wonderful passer of the ball and a warrior.

"It's quite simple. From where the two teams were last year it's straight forward. Chelsea took in three starters that came into their team [Fabregas, Courtois, Costa]. We are missing three in Suarez, Sturridge and young John Flanagan. They took three in, we lost three. The players we have had have given everything but we are fifth and that's probably where we are at at the moment."

Jake Saunders: How painfully ironic that this result would have been perfect for Liverpool at this stage last season.

David Mackay: With top 4 gone and nearly £200m wasted on players, is Rodgers going to keep his job? If Klopp is available I can't see it

Tom Castle: The only ones excited about that match are the accountants. Pointless.

  7. 'The end of an era'published at 18:14 British Summer Time 10 May 2015

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers speaks to Sky Sports: "I think we got off to an awful start. A disappointing goal from our perspective. We got ourselves back into the game, a good header from Stevie was well worked and I thought in the second half we were outstanding, we just lacked that bit of quality in the final third."

On the early Fabregas challenge and booking: "It was poor tackle, very, very early in the game and one we are disappointed the referee didn't see. You can see Fabregas jumps in and catches Raheem."

On Steven Gerrard being substituted: "Steven has worked brilliantly and it was more just to give him the acclaim on what will probably be the last time he played at Stamford Bridge. I think he's been a thorn in the side of Chelsea supporters because they know he's got star quality but I think they recognised today the end of an era, of a special player."

  8. Play-off latestpublished at 18:13 British Summer Time 10 May 2015

  9. 'They slaughtered me all day'published at 18:11 British Summer Time 10 May 2015

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard on Chelsea fans applauding him as he left the pitch: "Chelsea fans have shown me respect for a couple of seconds but slaughtered me all day. What's important is the support from the Liverpool fans, they've been with me from day one."

On Jose Mourinho: "I have huge respect for him. He's the best manager in the world in my opinion. I would have signed for him on three occasions if I wasn't such a big Liverpool fan. He's the reason my head was turned on a couple of occasions but he knew why I couldn't do it, because I love Liverpool Football Club. It always means more when you win for your people."

Dan in London: "LFC miss out on champions league, Utd stumble into it, City fail. Fair to say that everyone below Chelsea would like the season to end now? It's not been great."

Tim in Marlow: "How many Liverpool regulars will end this season with their reputations enhanced? Henderson, Coutinho and Emre Can I think - but no-one else."

  12. 'It's been tough'published at 18:07 British Summer Time 10 May 2015

    Steven GerrardImage source, Reuters

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard speaks to Sky Sports: "I think now this team's got to prepare for next year. We wanted to make a statement with our performance today. Unfortunately we didn't win the game but we've shown that with a few additions we can compete next year."

On giving Chelsea a guard of honour: "It's not nice the guard of honour but Chelsea have won the league, they deserved it but it wasn't nice doing it.

"We've shown we've come up a bit short. I think it's important the lads get some rest, the owners try and dig deep and help Brendan out. There's a great core of players here. This league is getting more and more difficult every year. We lost Suarez, we haven't had Daniel Sturridge, it's been tough."

  13. 'I will miss Steven Gerrard'published at 18:04 British Summer Time 10 May 2015

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho: "It was a good performance if you understand the circumstances. When a team is always playing at the limits to be champions, a team that is champions last weekend it is normal that you lose a bit of intensity.

"But we worked hard. We had players at a positive level and we were competing for a result. We were very good in the first half. Physically we went down in the second half.

    MourinhoImage source, Reuters

"It was important for us to show that we are champions and we have the dignity of trying to get a result. Ruben Loftus-Cheek, I took him off because I could imagine him suffering in the final 30 minutes.

"He came off at the right moment, he understood what the Premier League is and it couldn't be better.

"To get an ovation at Stamford Bridge is special for Steven Gerrard, we have lots of respect for the top guys. I will miss him."

"Chelsea do just enough. They played averagely today, some of the players were poor. There may be some anger in the dressing room at the goal they lost as it was terrible marking from one individual."

All over. Champions Chelsea sleepwalk to another point, Steven Gerrard and John Terry on the scoresheets. It could easily be 2005 all over again.
