...but it's a weak one. Straight into the hands of goalkeeper David Ospina who gathers with ease. Poor from the Spaniard. There was no pace in it and a good chance wasted.

Free-kick taken by Juan Mata...
Neat play from Arsenal, but Alexis Sanchez gets another tough challenge, this time from Ashley Young. United break to the other end and Juan Mata earns a free-kick on the edge of the area after being brought down by Francis Coquelin....

"If they can get balls into Marouane Fellaini, he is putting himself up against the smallest players in Arsenal's back four."
Ashley Young seeing plenty of the ball for Manchester United, and plays it in to big-man Marouane Fellaini, but he is penalised for handball. Clumsy stuff. Neither keeper made to work yet.

"It's not been a great start for United, Arsenal have most of the possession, neither goalkeeper has been tested, there is lots of space in midfield and Arsenal are playing with four up."
The corner falls to Chris Smalling, who shoots...but away for another corner. The defender can't add to his four league goals this season. Arsenal eventually clear their lines.
First chance. Juan Mata feeds the ball into the box which finds Radamel Falcao, but his shot is blocked for a corner...
Marcos Rojo at left-back for Manchester United has not had the best of starts, kicking the ball out of play on two occasions thus far.
When he does get the ball to Ashley Young , though, the winger plays a tantalising ball into the area, but it is cleared.
Arsenal working hard to close Manchester United down today, working very hard. They won't be able to keep that up all game and will tire come the second half. Both teams just sizing each other up. Jabs rather than full blown punches at the moment.
A swift ball to the left from Juan Mata picks out Ashley Young. He cuts inside and tries a curler into the top corner but it's high into the East Stand.

"I've been impressed with Nacho Monreal in the second half of the season, he's been keeping Kieran Gibbs out of the team."
Alexis Sanchez breaks clear for Arsenal after a flick from Olivier Giroud but a robust challenge from Daley Blind stops the Chilean in his tracks. A crunching tackle that may ignite this match.
Ben Clayton:, external I think there will be a big indication from David De Gea as to where his future lies at full time today.
Ross Parlett:, external With Rooney out, Smalling as captain shows Man Utd are short on leaders.
Alexis Sanchez on the ball early on for Arsenal. His contribution could be pivotal in the outcome of this match today. He can't find Olivier Giroud with a ball forward and David De Gea gathers.

Chants of "David de Gea" rise up from the Stretford End for Manchester United's goalkeeper - then a loud roar when his name is announced. An attempt to tug at the heartstrings perhaps? Speculation is rife that Real Madrid will be tugging at their pursestrings to take De Gea to The Bernabeu.
"Lo-lo-lo-lo, Radamel Falcao" sing the United fans in support of their striker. He needs to put in a performance today if he wants to stay at the club.
