Peter Jackson: All this domination by Arsenal without scoring means that the likely result is Arsenal 0 - 1 Sunderland.

Alex Maguire: Arsenal in May has been like Arsenal from Aug-Dec - indecisive, no penetration and lack of quality in the final third.

Edmund Emiowei: Arsenal will never win the Premier League with Olivier Giroud as main striker. Fact.

Sunderland have FOUR MEN up in attack, good grief, and it ends with their first attempt on goal, Adam Johnson lashing one over the crossbar. Great pass from Jermain Defoe to start that counter.

Looking at Danny Graham's touch map, the Sunderland front man is going to have a very long night...

So far, so very good for Sunderland. Their containing gameplan may not be interesting to watch but if they get the point they need to stay up then who cares?

Christian in Rickmansworth: Strange for there to be thousands of empty seats at the Emirates - the Arsenal website says this fixture is sold out!

This is not so much a contest as an examination for Arsenal. Can they score against a 10-man defence?

"Sunderland have set themselves up for a very long night here - but Arsenal are just starting to threaten. A clear indication of Sunderland's approach is that Jermain Defoe has spent more time chasing back towards his own goal than he has getting anywhere near Arsenal's."

Ashley Out: Sunderland to lose next two by combined five goal margin, Newcastle to draw with West Ham and Hull to beat Manchester United - Sunderland go down on goals scored.

Nick Lynch: Re: Sterling. Arsenal have their full quota of overpaid underachieving English internationals.

James Brandon: If Arsenal get one soon this could be about five.

  9. CLOSE!published at 20:18 British Summer Time 20 May 2015

Close! Arsenal getting closer. Jack Wilshere with a lovely 'Xavi' style chip pass over the top, up and down ultra-quick, Olivier Giroud has read the script and gets there first but can only flash a volley across the face of goal.

Sunderland are rewriting the rules of parking the bus tonight. If Arsenal get one, I have no idea how the Black Cats will readjust. Their whole team could be contained within the average Premier League player's kitchen.

Michael Blighe: Looking at your vote it seems 32% of people have a lot of faith in Hull! As a Newcastle fan, I must admit I'm a tad on edge.

Alexis Sanchez with great feet again, leaving John O'Shea absolutely flummoxed before Mesut Ozil fires over the top. Sunderland have nine men in a 25-yard gap in front of their goal.

Arsene Wenger could take his entire back four off.

No surprises to see the average position of Arsenal (left) and Sunderland (right) players so far...

Alexis Sanchez plays in Jack Wilshere with a smart pass with the outside of his boot but the England man is caught on his heels before Kieran Gibbs blasts over the top.

Sunderland owner Ellis Short is in the stands, reading our live text on his phone. I presume. Evening Ellis!

Kyle (a nervous Newcastle fan): Sat in the local pub hoping for an Arsenal win with my grandad who's a Sunderland supporter. I'm predicting a 2-1 Arsenal win with an Alexis Sanchez double.

Hmmm, Theo Walcott has scored 72 goals for Arsenal in nine years. Not quite a 20-a-season man.

Will he be off? He's not exactly first on the sheet is he?

Shanmugaraga CK: Arsene Wenger should never trade Theo Walcott for Raheem Sterling. Theo has no baggage, he can score 20 goals and provides width. Arsenal have three No 10s already.

Arsenal well on top so far...

Sunderland's poverty of ambition is highlighted when Patrick van Aanholt breaks up an Arsenal attack, gets his head down and sprints 50 yards into open space. When he picks his head up seconds later, there is not a blue shirt within the Arsenal half!

Arsenal then counter attack and it ends with Santi Cazorla firing in a low shot at Costel Pantilimon.

That would have been a lovely, lovely goal! Arsenal counter at pace, Sunderland are in disarray. Mesut Ozil out on the right, cuts on to his left foot and arcs it over to Alexis Sanchez on the left. He volleys it back to Jack Wilshere, arriving on it, but he can't control the shot and flashes it over the bar.

BBC Radio 5 live at Emirates Stadium

"Sunderland are asking a lot of Jermain Defoe, while Adam Johnson is causing a few problems cutting in on his left foot from the right wing but is struggling defensively.

"Arsenal are playing with great rhythm, and Jack Wilshere looks a lot stronger and more dynamic since coming back from injury. He's out to lay a claim for a place in the FA Cup final team."
