    Stoke 6-1 Liverpool

"I will give that answer on my future next week. The players have responded excellently, with their commitment to the club, to get 12 points makes me very proud of them.

"My assistant said to me we made the impossible, possible. I have a big decision to make this week."

    Arsenal 4-1 West Brom

    Theo Walcott

"I think it's been an up and down campaign. We've had a great run. It came to an end a few weeks ago. We've finished third, and if we win the FA Cup next week, that's a good season.

"But I think that next season, we need to be challenging for the title, with the team we've got."

  11. "We are a complete team"

    Chelsea 3-1 Sunderland

    Chelsea

    Jose Mourinho

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho: "I think we have everything. Can anybody say we don't play fantastic football? No. Well, they can, but it's not true. We have art in our game but we also have fantastic spirit, organisation and pragmatism. We are a complete team and that is why we are champions.

"It was a bit of a risk to come here for a second time but with a new team a new generation we are champions again, and as a Chelsea supporter I feel it a double way,"

Terry; "It has been five years since we won the title. It has been a long time and hurts when you see other teams lift it.

"It is an unbelievable day - the whole squad have been top class from day one - but a sad one with Didier leaving today."

Drogba: "I knew they were going to do something to mark my last game. I love John. I have played with him for many years, I know him and his family and he is not the guy that people think that he is. He is a nice guy. "

    Allardyce to leave West Ham

Greg Howarth: How much has Allardyce done for them? The thanks he gets is a knife in the back... some teams in this league are shocking.

Sean Freel: Why does big Sam get the bullet anytime he has a decent season. He will get a big club soon.

David Clark: Typical, one of the best and most reliable managers in the Premier League and he gets the chop. Good luck Sam, I hope you get a much better deal with an honest club.

  15. Thanks for coming

    Man Utd

Manchester United have decided not to keep Radamel Falcao following the end of his season-long loan from Monaco.

Falcao is due to speak to manager Louis van Gaal on Monday.

    Falcao

But it has already been decided to release the 29-year-old after he scored just four goals in 29 appearances.

The Colombian missed today's 0-0 draw with Hull due to injury, after which manager Louis van Gaal said: "We still have a day. I have to say something to him."

  16. Post update

    Chelsea 3-1 Sunderland

    Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown

    Final Score

"Chelsea were strong at the beginning of the season and I thought the Arsenal record of the Invincibles was in trouble - they were that strong.

"It is whether they can hold on to the title and what changes they will bring in. That is the true mark of champions - that they'll already be looking towards the future.

"Chelsea are a long way off reaching the semi-finals in Champions League and competing with Barcelona and Bayern Munich but Jose Mourinho knows how to win."

  17. 'No fears'

    Fan view

    Hull City

Hull City fan and blogger Rick Skelton, 35: "If there is a right way to go down, I think Hull City have shown it today. One of the many disappointments is that the incredible spirit, fight and urgency of today has been missing recently.

    Hull

"Relegation holds no fears. It's frustratingly needless but unlike last time (2010) we have financial protection, saleable assets and a strong core. We also have a manager who specialises in promotion so I'd keep him despite his flaws.

"My biggest concern is that the owners are somehow able to achieve their hideous, divisive change of name out of the spotlight. Relegation is part and parcel. That would kill my love for my club."

    Allardyce to leave West Ham

James, Wokingham: West Ham getting rid of Big Sam will be a classic example of not realising what you had until you lose it. Embarrassing decision.

Toby: West Ham looking to bigger things. Great academy, money available and new stadium around the corner. Only one manager good enough for this 'project', Jurgen Klopp is on the way to the Prem, get ready.

  19. The West Ham way

    West Ham

  22. Manager reaction

    Chelsea 3-1 Sunderland

    Chelsea

Chelsea manger Jose Mourinho: "I know that our rivals are not going to accept this title and they are going to fight and there are three or four teams that will be aiming for us and we have to be better - me, the players and our squad.

"Maybe they need some fresh blood to keep them under pressure. They know me they know that they are not going to keep their positions on the basis of this year."

  23. Moyes for the Magpies?

Newcastle 2-0 West Ham - NEWCASTLE STAYING UP

    Former Tottenham striker Garth Crooks

    Final Score

"If you asked me to put money on John Carver being Newcastle's manager next season I would say no. I think Mike Ashley is an astute enough man to realise he has had his wake-up call, and Carver staying would not say the club is going in the right direction.

    David Moyes
Image caption: Coming back to the Prem?

"I think David Moyes would be a good fit. Moyes is quite happy with Real Sociedad in Spain but is very keen to prove himself back in England."

That's two clubs Moyes has been linked with in the last hour.

  24. Milner on the move?

    Man City 2-0 Southampton

    Dybala signs for Juve

    Paulo Dybala

A bit of breaking transfer news from over in Italy where Palermo striker Paulo Dybala - reportedly a target for Arsenal among others - has confirmed that he will join Juventus next season.

The 21-year-old scored 13 goals in 35 games in Serie A and is expected to cost around 40m euros (£28m).

"Juventus are the side who wanted me the most," the Argentine told Sky Sport Italia.

"They made a real effort to sign me and this is why I made my decision. I can certainly win the Scudetto there, as they are a winning team. I too always play to win and can find success with them."

  26. Post update

Garth has cracked it. If you don't score, you go down.

Any Hull players likely to be snapped up by their Premier League rivals?

  27. Post update

Hull 0-0 Man Utd - HULL RELEGATED

    Former Tottenham striker Garth Crooks

    Final Score

"Steve Bruce has already alluded to this but Hull have been relegated simply because they've not been scoring enough goals. I saw them at Crystal Palace, where they won, but needed five chances to convert one. It's been their problem throughout the season. QPR and Burnley struggled to score too, and guess what? They went down as well."

  28. League One latest

Preston are in total control. But they've got a terrible record in the play-offs, and Swindon scored five past Sheffield United the other week.

  29. I have no doubts about my future - Pellegrini

    Man City 2-0 Southampton

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini speaking to BBC Sport: "It was important to say goodbye to Frank [Lampard] by winning the game, it was a beautiful afternoon for the fans and for the squad.

    Pellegrini

"I am not happy with the way we worked the whole year, we lost too many points against teams in relegated positions. We lost stupid points, but I assure you we are going to grow as a club next season. The most important target for us is to recover the title next season, and I believe we are not far away from doing that.

"I never had any doubt in my mind all season [that I will stay in charge]. I know what the owners think, I speak with them all the time, they are not owners who think because you do not win the title you must go out."

  30. Manager reaction

    Leicester 5-1 QPR

Leicester boss Nigel Pearson on Jamie Vardy's England call-up: "Being called up regardless of whatever anyone else says is a reflection on of his development as a player and of the sort of team he has played in.

"If you are going to break in to the England side you need to be playing exceptionally well - but also your team-mates to be playing well as well."

  31. 'England call up was a shock'

    Leicester 5-1 QPR

    Leicester City

Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy on his England call-up: "I can't believe what a week it has been.

"It came as a shock that I got the call up. I can't tell you what it feels like. I m still letting it settle in.

    Jamie vardy

"It has just been a brilliant week, what with knowing our Premier League place was safe as well."

    Another season is done

Wasiyullah Buyde: Three legends - Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard & Didier Drogba - signed off from the Premier League. Once in a generation players!

Henri Colens: Is it me, or isn't it time Rafa renewed his duel with Jose? Rodgers is a good manager but he may have too much on his plate.

John Dykes: 54 points, positive goal difference, six points shy of Southampton in seventh. What a job Mark Hughes is doing at Stoke.

  33. "If the owners want me to go - I will go"

    Stoke 6-1 Liverpool

    Liverpool

    Brendan Rodgers

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers: "I have always said if the owners want me to go I will go. But I still feel I have a lot of offer here. There is a lot that's happened there this year that has made the job tough.

"Performances like today don't help me and I'm fully aware of that."

Rodgers signed a new long-term deal last summer. If the owners want him to go, he will go with a chunky pay-off.

  34. Manager reaction

    Leicester 5-1 QPR

    Leicester City

Leicester boss Nigel Pearson: "We took a bit of time to get going. It is always difficult when you've achieved certain objectives to get what you want.

"The end product is a really good win but we didn't quite hit some of the standards we would have liked but we did more than enough in the end.

"It was a shame it wasn't a clean sheet as well as a win. But there are lots of positives and it is always important to try and finish a season with an outcome you can build on for next year.

"We are not kidding ourselves in terms of how we need to move forward, because although it has been a great end to the season, it needed to be."

  35. Manager reaction

    Stoke 6-1 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers on leaving out Raheem Sterling: "It's been a difficult few months for him and we felt other players might be able to contribute that bit more."

  37. 'Not good enough'

Hull 0-0 Man Utd - HULL RELEGATED

    Hull City

Hull boss Steve Bruce: "It is one of those awful experience. This is a particularly low time. We are not in the big league.

"Too many times I have come out and said we have not done bad but we have not scored. That is 17 or 18 times we have not scored.

    Steve Bruce

"I have to take the brunt of it. We have not been good enough. We believed at the start of the season we would have enough.

"It is not a time for excuses. You have to take your medicine and come back as strongly as you can.

"I am exhausted at the minute. My future is for others to decide. Cuts are inevitable. A lot of talking and soul-searching has to be done in the next few weeks. We are all sad at the minute. I am sure there are a few conversations to be had, which will be had in due course."

  38. 'We were very, very poor'

    Stoke 6-1 Liverpool

    Liverpool

    Brendan Rodgers

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers: "We made too many mistakes defensively and individually. We were beaten too easily and were not competitive enough. We were very, very poor in that first half.

"It was always going to be a big job in the summer and today's result would certainly ratify that.

"We understand the job ahead and we will be much better than today going forward.

"We have got to be much better than we have been for the last six or eight weeks. We will work tirelessly to look to put on a better show next season."

  39. 'Clyne will stay'

    Man City 2-0 Southampton

    Nabil Hassan

    BBC Sport

"Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has just finished his post-match media conference and spoke of his "pride" after the ended their season seventh in the Premier League with a club-record total of 60 points.

"Koeman also says he is "confident" Nathaniel Clyne will sign a new contract and the club should know either way next week.

"He still hopes they can make it into Europe and that it will be very hard to improve on this season."

  40. Post update

Hull 0-0 Man Utd - HULL RELEGATED

Steve Bruce makes a point of congratulating the teams who have stayed up - particularly Leicester - and refuses to have any talk of excuses.

He also says cuts will be inevitable at the club and concedes that his future is not up to him to decide now.

  41. Post update

Newcastle 2-0 West Ham - NEWCASTLE STAYING UP

Former Newcastle captain Alan Shearer on 5 live

"I don't think anyone could say Newcastle didn't deserve the result today. There was a great atmosphere, the players showed they wanted to stay in the Premier League and the fans backed them. I'm delighted they will be playing top flight football next season.

"Jonas Gutierrez scoring at the end is a fantastic story. If there is one guy who really works his socks off it's Jonas, and he was doing it in my time at the club too. After all he has been through I know how much that goal will mean to him today. He has shown incredible commitment to the club.

"Now if they stop selling their best players, bring in a few new faces and play the best team in cup competitions, you never know, we might just have a very good club on our hands."

  42. Post update

Hull 0-0 Man Utd - HULL RELEGATED

Hull boss Steve Bruce has hurt in his eyes. He says he is 'desperately upset' and it is an 'awful, awful experience.'

    Full reaction to come.

  43. Post update

Newcastle 2-0 West Ham - NEWCASTLE STAYING UP

    Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown

    Final Score

"I think John Carver was woefully out of his depth. The atmosphere was incredible today and the fans got behind the side.

"Mike Ashley, by letting Alan Pardew go, put Newcastle in this position. Carver should stay with the club because he is a Newcastle man through and through but they need somebody else at the helm who can do more."

  44. 'Time for De Gea to say something'

Hull 0-0 Man Utd - HULL RELEGATED

    De Gea

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal on David De Gea's future: "I cannot say that. He has to say something not I."

On Falcao: "Also we have tomorrow still a day. Maybe. I have to say something to him."

On the summer: "For me, that is why I am the manager. You have to decide which players are to go and which have to come. That is a process. It is not so easy. It is waiting for clubs to agree or not. It is hard work, but more for [Chief Exec] Ed Woodward than me. I go on holiday but I will always be in contact."

  45. Post update

    Everton 0-1 Tottenham

    Everton

Everton boss Roberto Martinez: "Of course it's been a very tough season but we have learned invaluable lessons that we will use in a good effect to start building towards where we want to be again."

  46. Counting the cost

Hull 0-0 Man Utd - HULL RELEGATED

    Hull City

Even with parachute payments of £25million in the first season, relegated clubs will face a drop of around £50million in turnover.

Hull's income in the Championship in 2012-13 was £11.1million, and £84.5million in the Premier League in 2013-14. Wowsers.

  47. Post update

Hull 0-0 Man Utd - HULL RELEGATED

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal praises Victor Valdes for his shot-stopping but admits he was not great under the high ball.

He also says that David De Gea 'now has to say something' about his future and refuses to confirm anything about Radamel Falcao's future.

  48. 'I still want this job'

Newcastle 2-0 West Ham - NEWCASTLE STAYING UP

    Newcastle United

Newcastle manager John Carver: "I told the players it was going to be a 90-minute rollercoaster and I thought we controlled our emotions quite well. We knew what was happening at Hull but we had to go about our own business, credit to Sam Allardyce for putting out a strong side, there were no gimmes and it was a good performance.

    John Carver

"The whole season has been difficult, when we went to New Zealand we lost the two lads (in the Malaysia Air crash in Ukraine), and that was a tragedy. I think they were looking down on us today. There have been some tough times but I'm stronger for it. I knew when I looked in the players' eyes they were ready for this. Every player deserves credit. We have not had a good season but I am going to enjoy this moment.

"I still want this job, I love this club but I know this is a big summer. We have to invest , Mike has said that and that is encouraging. I want a summer where I can bring in the players I want. Today has given me more enthusiasm to do what I want to do."

  49. Post update

"Jose Mourinho is the master of taking pressure off his team, but champions or not there have been deficiencies. They've only lost three games, but Arsenal, Manchester City or Manchester United would not have won the championship in this style. Mourinho has been the pragmatist, he changed their approach, and you have to say they are worthy champions. But the only point I'm making is that not everybody likes it."

Newcastle 2-0 West Ham - NEWCASTLE STAYING UP

Newcastle fan Jamie Smith: "An absolute fairytale ending as Jonas Gutierrez, comfortably man of the match, seals his already assured place in the affections of Newcastle fans with the goal that seals our Premier League status.

"Still, sealing 15th place and survival on the final day is no cause for celebration. I'm still in the ground for the sit in protest half an hour after the game, with disillusionment from the season gone being rightly aimed at the owner.

Former West Ham boss Sam Allardyce:

"There was not a contract talked about, but it is probably right for both of us to move on. I've enjoyed this opportunity, it's been a great venture. I take great pride in what I have achieved. The team, the club is in a hugely more successful position than when I took over. Everything I was asked to do I've delivered. It's probably the right time for us both to move on, I really enjoyed the ride.

"We had a slow start to the season, but progressively, we got stronger, and from January onwards we got competitive.

    Arsene Wenger

"We have qualified directly for next season's Champions League. But we want more. We want to challenge for the Premier League title. But first we want to win the FA Cup next weekend.

  61. 'We wanted fifth'

    Everton 0-1 Tottenham

Spurs striker Harry Kane: "The most important thing was the win. We knew Stoke away at Liverpool would be tough for them, we wanted fifth and we got it. I'm delighted to get on scoresheet.

"There's no qualifying game for the Europa league and finishing fifth is not bad anyway. We got to the League Cup final too so it's been a productive season."

    Chelsea receive Premier League trophy

Meanwhile Chelsea are in the process for picking up the Premier League spoils.

The whole squad are being introduced one-by-one to the crowd as they head up for their medals. Youngesters such as Nathan Ake and Dominic Solanke are being invited up onto the podium as well.

Cesc Fabregas has started dancing as he steps up. He has gone early there. There is still half the squad to be read out.

  63. 'Lampard is a big loss'

    Man City 2-0 Southampton

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart: "It was important for us to finish with a win. Frank Lampard's an unbelievable character. It's a big loss for the Premier League.

"I'm excited about next season, we'll be chasing and we'll be chasing hard - we want to win everything. I'm proud to win the Golden Glove but it's fair to say that Fraser Forster would have won it if he hadn't been injured for a bit. It's a personal award in a disappointing season."

    Joe Hart
  64. 'Schoolboy defending'

    Leicester 5-1 QPR

QPR boss Chris Ramsey: "It was a very frustrating day and some of our defending and tracking back was schoolboy.

"There were a few positives and I can't fault the players for their effort but we are in this position because we haven't had the quality to take chances when they come, and because we've made too many errors in defence.

"We had travelling fans here again, which was fantastic. It was a disappointing result for them so we want to make sure the next season is going to be a happier one for them.

"It is no secret that there is going to have to be some major changes because of the position we are in.

"We haven't maintained our status in the Premier League so something has to change in order to get the club back to where we need to be."

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce is told by a television interviewer that the club have released a statement saying that his contract will not be renewed.

"I knew that already," he laughs.

    More to come on that.

    West Ham

A West Ham statement has already been published: "West Ham United will begin the search for a new manager after the club decided not to renew the contract of Sam Allardyce following the conclusion of the 2014-15 season.

"Joint-Chairmen David Sullivan and David Gold will now oversee the recruitment process for a new manager to lead the club into one of the most exciting eras in its history.

"The Board has already compiled a shortlist of replacements for Allardyce and will be making significant transfer funds available for the successful candidate.

"From our point of view there isn't a more exciting job in the Premier League at present."

    Man City 2-0 Southampton

    Frank lampard

Frank Lampard speaking after scoring in his final Premier League match: "I couldn't have wished for anything for else. I'm proud of all of it. For a young boy with a dream to play in the Premier League, to go to my home-town club West Ham and then go to Chelsea and win everything, it doesn't get better. I'm a lucky boy, to come to a big club like this for a season, I've made a lot of friends."

The mood at St James' Park is a strange one though. The relief last only a few minutes, before it is replaced by anger that they were in this perilous position at all.

Banners are unfurled. One says "we don't demand a team who wins, we demand a club that tries", another displays their end of season run followed by a single word: "Inquest?"

"This season they were just a little bit too complacent, I think this team have come to their end and they need a new breed of players."

  124. GREAT SAVE!

  136. CLOSE!

Hull 0-0 Man Utd - HULL GOING DOWN

This is painful to watch now. Again Hull are inches away from an opener as Robbie Brady's cross is flicked on, on and on past the post.

Again, a simple touch would have done it. You have to feel sorry for Steve Bruce. He can't take much more of this.

    Hull 0-0 Man Utd

One for your 'end of season' bingo card as a phantom cheer emanates in one section of the KC Stadium. It's the Manchester United fans taunting Hull as news of that Newcastle goal reaches these shores.

  149. GOAL

Newcastle 1-0 West Ham - Moussa Sissoko (54 mins)

Right out of the Malcolm Macdonald playbook.

Moussa Sissoko barges his way between two West Ham defenders and soars highest to arrow home a header past a helpless Adrian.

A massive, massive goal and he is engulfed by team-mates, subs and a few fans.

Newcastle need to both concede and Hull to score against Manchester United to slip back into the relegation zone.

They need a goal today, and if they get one, I'm not sure Manchester United are playing well enough to come back at them. Big Sam is off the bench, but all he can muster up for Mike Williamson's suspect penalty-box challenge on Enner Valencia is an exasperated shrug. His heart just isn't in it any more is it?

Ref Martin Atkinson is not getting worked up about that either.

  241. GOAL

Aston Villa 0-1 Burnley - Danny Ings (6 mins)

    Danny Ings celebrates

You don't save those! Danny Ings, on what we presume is his final game for Burnley, rises high to plant a header into the top corner. Poor defending from Villa but Ings finished that well.

  242. GOAL

Arsenal 1-0 West Brom - Theo Walcott (4 mins)

    Theo Walcott celebrates

What a goal that is! Brazilian stuff from Theo Walcott as he collects the pass on the right-hand side of the area, bends in an early shot with the outside of his boot which flies into the top corner, gaining extra street cred points by clipping the underside of the crossbar on its way in.

A reminder perhaps of his qualities.

    Hull 0-0 Man Utd

    Ohhh!

A sharp intake of breath all around St James' Park as Emmanuel Riviere screws a shot just wide from 10 yards out as the West Ham wall parted in front of him.

That was a chance. Let's hope for his sake it is one he ends up thinking about too much this evening.

  249. Post update

For the 38th and final time this season it's a time for handshakes, corporate anthems, mascots, tickertape, fanfare, hope, expectation and joy.

    Sterling is on the bench

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers: "Part of the reason Raheem Sterling is on the bench is because of everything that has been going on.

"I think it is a game to take him out, there has been a huge weight on him. He is a young player and he deals with it well. We have other players who are focused on the game."

Newcastle v West Ham (15:00 BST)

    Newcastle United

    Jamie Smith

Newcastle fan Jamie Smith, 36, from fanzine The Mag: "Had a chat with some West Ham fans in the pub to gauge a neutral opinion on the day's events. I'm confident they were being honest in saying that they'd prefer Hull to drop as opposed to ourselves.

"The reasons given were Newcastle's status as a more established Premier League club, the more traditional opponent over newly emerged, arguably rugby-focussed Hull. Also the value of a trip to our city is something the Hammers cited, echoing the opinion of many travellers I've met (for the uninitiated, it's a pub-strewn half mile from the train station to the ground).

"I think this may reflect the opinions of many travelling fans, but will vastly differ from the non-travelling majority. A preference for the established side to take the fall seems the norm, but the mundane mid-table expectations of our club are surely a depressing factor outside of Tyneside as well as within. It wouldn't surprise me if most neutrals will relish in our potential demise."

  260. 'Newcastle have gone mentally'

"I said previously Newcastle have gone mentally and I stand by that. John Carver has been talking about this game being like a cup final. Nigel Pearson

"But his achievement in keeping Leicester up is the thing his campaign will be remembered for most of all.

"Pearson did it the hard way - his side spent 140 days bottom of the table, which is more than anyone else. But he also did it by being brave with some attack-minded team selections and through some inspired work in the transfer market."

  271. Possible play-off?

Arsenal v West Brom (15:00 BST)

    Emirates stadium

All of the focus is on the bottom of the table and that dreaded 18th spot.

But hang on, maybe there could be some excitement at the top too!

In accordance with Premier League rules, there would be a play-off to determine third place - and automatic Champions League entry - in the unlikely event that Manchester United and Arsenal finish level on points, goal difference and goals scored.

For that to happen there would need to be a seven-goal swing in United's favour, with Louis van Gaal's side scoring at least five goals at Hull.

For example, if United win 5-0 and Arsenal lose 2-0 at home to West Brom, or a 5-1 win to United coupled with a 3-0 Arsenal defeat. Head-to-head doesn't come into it. When would this game take place?

    Pass. The calendar's full.

  272. 'Arsenal worry me to death'

Arsenal v West Brom (15:00 BST)

    West Brom

West Brom head coach Tony Pulis: "It was a very easy decision to stick with an unchanged side after the performance against Chelsea. The players played really well against Chelsea. We've had five really good performances in a row, and we needed them to get clear of trouble.

"I've named a couple of kids on the bench today. Alex Palmer, the goalkeeper, deserves a chance and the lads have been pushing to get him in the squad. And we think Tyler Roberts is going to be a very good player. He might get a chance.

"The fact that Arsenal haven't scored in their last three home games worries me to death. The chances they've had in games have been exceptional. Arsene has said they've got to be a little more ruthless in front of goal. We've got to make sure we give our best."

Hull v Man Utd (15:00 BST)

MOTD's Guy Mowbray at the KC Stadium

"Every time a side managed by Steve Bruce prepares to play Manchester United, he's reminded of the fact that he's never led one to victory against them.

"It started with a 2-0 defeat for Birmingham at Old Trafford in December 2002, and 20 games later United's first Premier League winning (joint) captain is still waiting to get one over his old team.

"The statistic has never carried more relevance than now, as is the case with the one about Hull never having won a Premier League game in May!

"Nothing in The Tigers' last three performances has done anything to suggest that they can get the win they need to have a chance of staying up, but sometimes things just seem to align to make the unlikely happen."

  306. J-Rod back in business?

Man City v Southampton (15:00 BST)

Southampton forward Jay Rodriguez says he is fitter, faster and stronger after spending a year out of football.

The 25-year-old has been out since April 2014 after rupturing his anterior cruciate knee ligament, but recently returned to full training and could play today.

"I've got stronger mentally, because it's been a tough time," Rodriguez told BBC Radio Solent.

"Physically I've improved my stats. That's what I wanted to get out of this. I've improved my speed and strength."

Hull have won only eight of 42 Premier League games since qualifying for the 2014 FA Cup final. A disastrous run of form which has led to them staring relegation hard in the face this afternoon.

  308. Cech him out

    Chelsea v Sunderland (15:00 BST)

A lot of farewells to the league today of course, but Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says he does not want goalkeeper Petr Cech to leave the Premier League champions.

    Petr Cech
Image caption: How much would you pay for Petr Cech?

The 32-year-old has only made 16 appearances this season, with Belgian Thibaut Courtois now first choice.

Cech's agent recently said the Czech Republic international had been given permission to talk to other clubs.

"I keep saying I would like him to stay," said Mourinho, who also confirmed Cech would play some part against Sunderland today.

Reports have suggested that even with one year on his contract Cech could cost any interested bidders £15m this summer. Value?

Crystal Palace v Swansea (15:00 BST)

MOTD's John Roder at Selhurst Park

"If you had offered supporters in August a scenario that saw Palace 11 points clear of the relegation zone and Swansea guaranteed eighth place - both sets of fans would surely, as a friend of mine bluntly put it, have "bitten your hand off to be where they are".

"Swansea have set a new club points record in the Premier League with their current total of 56, while Palace will do likewise over a 38-game season if they avoid defeat - something to be proud of after their campaign started in turmoil following the exit of Tony Pulis.

"Alan Pardew's impact since his arrival has been immense, with nine league wins to turn the campaign around, while Garry Monk is many people's choice for Manager of the Year after a superb first full season in charge."

"At the beginning of any season there are always questions asked about teams. You have to say Southampton have delivered some emphatic answers, while in contrast Manchester City end the campaign with uncertainty in the air.

"Will Manuel Pellegrini take charge of last season's champions for the final time? Will it be Yaya Toure's farewell? Will the Etihad stadium see James Milner in blue again?

"There are almost more questions to be answered in May than there were in August and that will be a huge source of frustration."

"Newcastle's fans have been drawn to St. James' Park hours before kick-off today. This superb arena, so close to the city centre, is every inch the perfect setting for a club to enjoy Premier League success, or indeed any success at all.

"And yet they have to go back to 1969 for their last silverware in the Inter Cities' Fairs Cup - and now face the prospect of relegation from the Premier League. Stoke v Liverpool (15:00 BST)

MOTD's Martin Fisher at the Britannia

"This season has been a major disappointment. Shorn of Suarez and the perennially injured Sturridge, Liverpool have always been off the pace. Two cup near misses and an early European exit have been followed by the tawdry saga of Raheem Sterling's contract negotiations.

"If Liverpool missed their targets and look in a mess, Stoke have hit theirs and look in splendid shape. Back-to-back ninth-place finishes is an impressive achievement.

"Mark Hughes has built on the solid foundations laid by Tony Pulis. Still combative but now more expansive, the addition of the likes of Bojan, Arnautovic and Diouf have sprinkled a little gold dust among those red-and-white stripes."

  317. Post update

    Leicester v QPR (15:00 BST)

MOTD's Simon Brotherton at the King Power

"After the great escape was completed last weekend at Sunderland, it's a chance for Leicester fans to welcome the team home and celebrate Premier League survival.

"The supporters deserve it too, after backing the team and the manager throughout, while creating a constantly noisy and positive atmosphere during recent home games.

"Leicester's survival has been a turnaround for the ages with six wins from eight matches and a total of 19 points from the last 24.

"It promises to be a summer of change at Loftus Road, with head coach Chris Ramsey - already appointed on a permanent basis - and director of football Les Ferdinand ready to start a major clearout."

"Today will be a day of celebration for both clubs. Chelsea will lap up the Premier League trophy presentation. They deserve to. They won more games and lost fewer than anyone else.

"No club conceded fewer goals. No-one created more than Cesc Fabregas. No-one played better than Eden Hazard. No captain led his team with more authority than John Terry.

"Sunderland's final whistle merriments should be muted. They have survived for another year. But they should never have been in a struggling position. Their campaign has been drab at best, mismanaged at worst."

  320. Post update

Newcastle v West Ham (15:00 BST)

MOTD's Steve Wilson at St James' Park

"When Sam Allardyce was sacked as manager of Newcastle United in January 2008, he had been in charge for 21 Premier League games - of which they had won seven, earning a total of 26 points.

"John Carver has overseen Newcastle for a total of 18 Premier League games - of which they have won two, earning a total of nine points.

"Someone questioned this week whether Allardyce would be particularly motivated by the prospect of relegating Newcastle. Motivated? You'd better believe it."

  321. Post update

Aston Villa v Burnley (15:00 BST)

MOTD's Dan O'Hagan at Villa Park

"This could be a Villa Park farewell for Christian Benteke. The claret and blue faithful must be concerned by the daily news reports of Champions League-qualified clubs casting envious glances at a player who has rediscovered his very best form since the change of management - it can be no coincidence that 11 of his 13 Premier League goals have come under the liberating Tim Sherwood.

"Certainly saying goodbye are Burnley. Relegation was confirmed earlier this month, but Sean Dyche's team depart the division having contributed plenty to the season.

"Nine of their starters in their final home match with Stoke were veterans of the promotion campaign - proof of the Clarets' financial prudence, which will arguably see them well-equipped to mount a strong challenge for immediate promotion next season."

  323. Post update

Arsenal v West Brom (15:00 BST)

MOTD's John Motson at Emirates Stadium

"Arsenal's focus now turns to next weekend's FA Cup final, where they could become the first team to lift the trophy 12 times - they are level with Manchester United on 11 - and they won't want to go into that game on the back of a poor performance.

"I'm anticipating a team not too dissimilar to the one Arsene Wenger will play at Wembley. There are still a couple of places up for grabs, with Jack Wilshere back in contention and a scramble at left-back between Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal.

"The Baggies were just a point above the relegation zone when he took over; they can end the season no lower than 13th."

"But I do think there a certain amount of players who don't want to be at the club next season, players who have had their fill. The ones who have shown the most bottle have been the young lads - there's been no leadership on the pitch from the senior players. It's been really sad."

"I would only need two or three minutes with the players to get the adrenaline going and to motivate them," he told the Newcastle Chronicle. ahead of Newcastle's crunch meeting with West Ham today.

"If Carver invites me that would have much more of a positive effect than anything else."

Cristiano Ronaldo finished up his season with a hat-trick against Getafe last night - taking his club tally to 61 in 54 games.

Before he and Lionel Messi arrived on the scene, I presumed those sort of numbers had died with the likes of Dixie Dean.

No such scoring feats in the Premier League this season, but there is a five-way fight for the slightly-contrived Golden Gloves award.

  364. Getting twitchy

    Fan view

    Newcastle United

Newcastle fan Jamie Smith, 36, from fanzine The Mag: "Leaving now for Newcastle, saying goodbye to my mate Rob, a fellow lifelong Magpie who refused the offer of a free ticket. Rob has made the decision to boycott St James' Park until Mike Ashley's regime at the club ends, an option that many hardcore Newcastle fans have felt forced into. In spite of his self-imposed exile, I can see him getting twitchy already at the day's prospects.

"Also looking a bit twitchy is my wife Emma, who is missing a post-wedding barbecue today so her husband can attend a potential relegation. What's that famous quote from Bill Shankly?

"Also, in heading off it would be amiss of me not to thank the new Mr and Mrs Meadows for a cracking day yesterday. Congrats again Kat and Dan."

    Fan view

    Hull City

Hull City fan and blogger Rick Skelton, 35: "I'm yet to speak to anyone this weekend who thinks Hull City will stay up. It's almost entirely due to a lack of faith in our ability to beat United.

"Regardless of who goes down it will be deserved. Both Hull City and Newcastle have owners in the Allams and Mike Ashley respectively who are determined to make life difficult for themselves - showing no regard for what their fans want. There are needless fights going on at both clubs."

  369. "From another planet"

    BBC Radio 5 live

    Mike Ashley

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley runs the club "from another planet", according to former manager Kevin Keegan.

In a critique of the Sports Direct billionaire's tenure since 2007, Keegan said fans has been treated with "such disrespect".

"It is almost as if Mike Ashley has said, 'what is the worst I can do?" the ex-Liverpool striker told Sportsweek.

The Magpies play West Ham and must match Hull's result against Manchester United to stay in the Premier League.

Speaking before Sunday's final game of the season - which manager John Carver has called "the biggest in six years" - Keegan said Ashley treats the Magpies as "just a commodity" and that there was "all sorts wrong with the club".

    Steven Gerrard and Raheem Sterling

Former Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan on Raheem Sterling on Sportsweek:

"There is no loyalty from players to clubs like what Steven Gerrard has shown to Liverpool. It is a thing of the past. But to be fair to players, there is not that much loyalty from clubs. It is a two-way thing.

"Clubs give players extended contracts, part of the reason is to maximise to sell them. Suarez is a prime example. Liverpool renewed, I know things happened in the World Cup and before that, but he had a long time on his contract and it was a case of selling him to Barcelona."

"My advice to Sterling is for him to get rid of your agent because that is the most stupid thing to say. Young players need agents who can advise them properly. They are young, not been around world many times don't know many things, even though some of them think they do.

"My advice is for him to sign the contract. When he finished it he will be, say, 24, and not yet as his peak. If he wants to then go to Real Madrid or Barcelona - Messi will then be 32 or 33 - so be it, but first learn his trade. His form is nothing like last year. He was the most exciting player last year, but he's been in and out and only shown glimpses."

    Kevin Keegan

Former Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan on Steven Gerrard on Sportsweek:

"I met him for the first time when I was England manager.

"There was nothing to dislike about him. His attitude was spot on and was very attentive. He showed leadership qualities in training at an early stage of his career. The way he talked, handled himself, gave people time. Once you have had it that age, you can only get better. The more I met him, the more I liked him."

"If Steven Gerrard played for Bill Shankly he would have played in a better team than he did all his years at Liverpool and he would have won a lot more things.

"His CV is amazing for what he hasn't won, rather than what he has won. If you turn back the clock and put him in our side, people have asked me where would he fit in that team you played in. I said he would be one of the first names on team sheet. He was that good."

  378. On the newsstand

    Sunday Telegraph

The Sunday Telegraph say that today will be Sam Allardyce's last in the West Ham job.

Rafael Benitez turned down West Ham after Real Madrid got in contact with him about the possibility of replacing Carlo Ancelotti, so David Moyes, Eddie Howe, Slaven Bilic and Michael Laudrup are now possible targets for the Hammers.

  385. Fair play

    Europa League conundrum

The Premier League will have three sides in next season's Europa League. But who will they be? Are you reading carefully? Then I shall begin:

English clubs have three places in the Europa League - for the FA Cup winners, Capital One Cup winners and fifth-placed Premier League side.

Chelsea won the League Cup on 1 March, and so their Europa League slot will be transferred to the team in sixth.

Should Arsenal win the FA Cup, their Europa League place will be allocated to the next highest club in the Premier League that has not yet qualified for the tournament, rather than to the beaten finalists.

The fight for fifth, sixth and seventh place will go to the final day of the season, and it is between Liverpool, Tottenham and Southampton.

England has been granted an extra Europa League place as one of the top three countries in Uefa's Respect Fair Play league. That place is set to go to West Ham, Everton or Burnley.

  386. The original odd couple

    Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard

It won't be just Hull or Newcastle bidding goodbye to the Premier League today.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard - lately of Manchester City, most famously of Chelsea - will be playing their final games before heading off to the sunny climes of the MLS.

How will they be remembered? Who was better? Would sacrificing one for the other have been the key to unlocking the potential in England's golden generation?

Phil McNulty has been considering these questions and more over here. Seven hundred and fifty-nine user comments and counting...

  387. Another good birthday?

    Fan view

    Hull City

    Rick Skelton

Hull City fan and blogger Rick Skelton, 35: "Grey start to the day in Hull which sums up the mood somewhat. I celebrated my birthday yesterday and wished for a win today! May 24th has been a good day for Hull City in the past with the 2008 Wembley win and last day survival a year later both coming on this date. Relegation won't be devastating but it's been so avoidable and would consequently be a big disappointment."

BBC Sport will be talking to Rick and Newcastle fan Jamie Smith throughout the day as they give us a supporters' view of the drama that unfolds.

  388. The fight for survival

    Premier League

It is pretty stark for Hull.

They have to beat Manchester United at home this afternoon and hope that Newcastle fail to do the same at home to West Ham.

Anything less and they are goners.

Still at least owner Assem Allam is keeping his mind on the prize with his continued attempts to change the club's name to Hull Tigers.

  389. The cost of the drop

    Manuel Pellegrini and Ed Chamberlain

A drop down into the Championship from the Premier League is estimated to cost relegated clubs between £40m and £50m in lost revenue.

And with the Premier League's bumper new television rights deal coming in in 2016-17, anything less than an immediate return will be very, very costly.

Those are the financial sums. What about the table mathematics?

  390. How times change

    Abel Hernandez

In September Hull broke their transfer record for a second time in a matter of months, bringing in Abel Hernandez for £10m, hot on the heels of the £8m permanent deal for Jake Livermore.

Steve Bruce said that the signings showed "just how far the club has come in such a short space of time".

    Alan Pardew

In November, Newcastle - who had just dumped Manchester City out of the League Cup - won a fifth successive Premier League game as they beat QPR to move into the top five.

A grinning Alan Pardew hailed it as a "terrific performance" that gave them hope they could push even further up the table.

Come May and both are staring down the relegation barrel.
