  1. 'We wanted fifth'published at 17:09 British Summer Time 24 May 2015

Spurs striker Harry Kane: "The most important thing was the win. We knew Stoke away at Liverpool would be tough for them, we wanted fifth and we got it. I'm delighted to get on scoresheet.

"There's no qualifying game for the Europa league and finishing fifth is not bad anyway. We got to the League Cup final too so it's been a productive season."

Meanwhile Chelsea are in the process for picking up the Premier League spoils.

The whole squad are being introduced one-by-one to the crowd as they head up for their medals. Youngesters such as Nathan Ake and Dominic Solanke are being invited up onto the podium as well.

Cesc Fabregas has started dancing as he steps up. He has gone early there. There is still half the squad to be read out.

  3. 'Lampard is a big loss'published at 17:07 British Summer Time 24 May 2015

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart: "It was important for us to finish with a win. Frank Lampard's an unbelievable character. It's a big loss for the Premier League.

"I'm excited about next season, we'll be chasing and we'll be chasing hard - we want to win everything. I'm proud to win the Golden Glove but it's fair to say that Fraser Forster would have won it if he hadn't been injured for a bit. It's a personal award in a disappointing season."

  4. 'Schoolboy defending'published at 17:06 British Summer Time 24 May 2015

QPR boss Chris Ramsey: "It was a very frustrating day and some of our defending and tracking back was schoolboy.

"There were a few positives and I can't fault the players for their effort but we are in this position because we haven't had the quality to take chances when they come, and because we've made too many errors in defence.

"We had travelling fans here again, which was fantastic. It was a disappointing result for them so we want to make sure the next season is going to be a happier one for them.

"It is no secret that there is going to have to be some major changes because of the position we are in.

"We haven't maintained our status in the Premier League so something has to change in order to get the club back to where we need to be."

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce is told by a television interviewer that the club have released a statement saying that his contract will not be renewed.

"I knew that already," he laughs.

He gives a very dignified little speech, thanking West Ham owners for the chance to manage the club and saying how much he has enjoyed working with the players and staff.

    More to come on that.

    West Ham

A West Ham statement has already been published: "West Ham United will begin the search for a new manager after the club decided not to renew the contract of Sam Allardyce following the conclusion of the 2014-15 season.

"Joint-Chairmen David Sullivan and David Gold will now oversee the recruitment process for a new manager to lead the club into one of the most exciting eras in its history.

"The Board has already compiled a shortlist of replacements for Allardyce and will be making significant transfer funds available for the successful candidate.

"From our point of view there isn't a more exciting job in the Premier League at present."

  7. Lampard's farewellpublished at 17:03 British Summer Time 24 May 2015

Frank Lampard speaking after scoring in his final Premier League match: "I couldn't have wished for anything for else. I'm proud of all of it. For a young boy with a dream to play in the Premier League, to go to my home-town club West Ham and then go to Chelsea and win everything, it doesn't get better. I'm a lucky boy, to come to a big club like this for a season, I've made a lot of friends."

The public address system at St James' Park is still pumping out music - Morrissey's Every Day is like Sunday since you ask - and it is keeping the Newcastle fans' chants inaudible.

I'm sure that is just coincidence.

You know when I said that there was no outrage from the terraces? Scratch that. A chorus of 'We want Allam out' is brief but vocal in the stadium but it fades away as the remaining spectators make their way into the Hull night.

A name change on the cards now?

Nikica Jelavic has tears in his eyes as he trudges off. Someone has put Elbow on the sound system but it will take more than that to cheer the folk of Hull up.

    West Ham

Manager Sam Allardyce confirms that he will leave West Ham this summer when his contract expires.

Who next for the Hammers hot-seat? A certain Moyes?

"I do feel desperately sorry for Steve Bruce because he's had a lot of bad luck. Injuries, the situation with Jake Livermore, and even though the investment has been there it's been difficult because this year has just not gone for them.

"West Ham gave a really good account of themselves today and made Newcastle work for it. Credit to John Carver - the home side have got over the line."

    Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown

"I have been through relegation and it is devastating. There will be a hollow feeling now. Hull gave it everything today but they just could not get the ball in the back of the net.

"It is not today when they lost it, all season long they could not score. Jelavic was injured for far too long and they needed to play the way they played today against the likes of Burnley."

Plenty of applause still as Steve Bruce sportingly shakes the hands of every Manchester United player. Bruce gets a good reception too from the stands.

"That was a massive result. Gutierrez might not even be there next season but it does not matter, he has etched his name in Newcastle history.

"There will be some major surgery needed for this team and there will be a major inquest into what happened this season.

"I do not know how often you can say the fans get behind their team 100% but they did that today. I do not care what they think of the owner, they need to stay behind their team."

    Former Wales striker John Hartson
BBC Radio 5 live at KC Stadium

"It's been a good spirited performance from Hull and it's good to see the fans applauding. Some of the players are on their knees, and I was relegated twice out of the Premier League so I know it does hurt."

    Ashley relievedImage source, Reuters

Mike Ashley looks a mighty relieved man.

The Newcastle owner puffs out his cheeks as he looks down on the celebrations.

The mood at St James' Park is a strange one though. The relief last only a few minutes, before it is replaced by anger that they were in this perilous position at all.

Banners are unfurled. One says "we don't demand a team who wins, we demand a club that tries", another displays their end of season run followed by a single word: "Inquest?"

A sit-in protest is planned and looks like it is settling in for the long haul.

  18. Postpublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 24 May 2015

Paul McShane, bloodied and bandaged, has taken this very badly indeed. He looks a broken man. He put his body on the line today but it wasn't to be.

Even if they had won today then Hull would have gone down. They just didn't do enough.

An air of resignation, of acceptance rather than outrage or dejection in the stands. They knew this was the likely outcome. Eight wins, and 33 goals, have not done the job.

  19. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:56 British Summer Time 24 May 2015

ALL OVER. Steve Bruce takes the hand of former team-mate Ryan Giggs but it's of no consolation. A polite round of applause ripples around the stadium.

Plenty of anguish on the faces of the Hull players, the chairman offers a weak smile. What now for this club?
