Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has joined in the plaudits for Frank Lampard in the match programme at the Etihad.
Plenty of small children with faces painted as Tigers a la Phoenix Nights, let's hope none of them are permanent.
Here we go, best of luck to all involved...
Hull City
Hull fan and blogger Rick Skelton: "Local restaurant "Circle 87" trying to inspire a great escape. The sandwich is popular but I'm not sure the theory is.
"The Tigers are unchanged. I would have preferred a more attacking approach but Steve Bruce is prepared to live and die by the 3-5-2 system he likes."
Ten minutes to go at a nervy KC Stadium. An early Manchester United goal would really kill the tension...
Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown

"We have a very honest Premier League, you do not get any favours from anybody. You get what you deserve and you win on merit and if you go down it is you own fault."
Newcastle United
Newcastle fan Jamie Smith, 36, from fanzine The Mag: "Had a chat with some West Ham fans in the pub to gauge a neutral opinion on the day's events. I'm confident they were being honest in saying that they'd prefer Hull to drop as opposed to ourselves.
"The reasons given were Newcastle's status as a more established Premier League club, the more traditional opponent over newly emerged, arguably rugby-focussed Hull. Also the value of a trip to our city is something the Hammers cited, echoing the opinion of many travellers I've met (for the uninitiated, it's a pub-strewn half mile from the train station to the ground).
"I think this may reflect the opinions of many travelling fans, but will vastly differ from the non-travelling majority. A preference for the established side to take the fall seems the norm, but the mundane mid-table expectations of our club are surely a depressing factor outside of Tyneside as well as within. It wouldn't surprise me if most neutrals will relish in our potential demise."
Former Tottenham striker Garth Crooks

"I said previously Newcastle have gone mentally and I stand by that. John Carver has been talking about this game being like a cup final. Well the problem with that is you never know how players are going to react in those types of game. If they can hold their nerve, their fortune is in their own hands."

Who will survive?
A huge day for these two men. Come 5pm one of them will have steered their clubs into the Championship after nine months of toil. Nobody wants to be on the wrong side of the relegation line.
BBC Final Score
Hull manager Steve Bruce: "We are up against it, there is no underestimating that. We still have a chance, beating Manchester United will not be easy but there have been some strange results and hope we can pull it off.
"We never wanted to be in this situation, we did not expect to be in this situation but let us hope there is one final twist and the luck comes our way."
'In Bruce we trust - not 606' reads a large banner in the Hull crowd. Is that a dig at Mr Savage and co...?
BBC Sport pundit Robbie Savage
"Nigel Pearson is the only Premier League manager whose season has featured ostriches, altercations with fans and opposition players and at, one stage, reports he had been sacked.
"But his achievement in keeping Leicester up is the thing his campaign will be remembered for most of all.
"Pearson did it the hard way - his side spent 140 days bottom of the table, which is more than anyone else. But he also did it by being brave with some attack-minded team selections and through some inspired work in the transfer market."
Newcastle have taken one point from their last 10 Premier League games. A terrible, terrible run of form. But will they still avoid the drop?
The fans are filling up St James' Park now.
If ever there was a time to break that record, it's now...
Great take on Alan Pardew's return to Crystal Palace as manager this one...

Newcastle are hoping for a favour from former manager Big Sam this afternoon - and the numbers point to good news!
Sam Allardyce has won just two of his last 15 Premier League games (D5 L8), while West Ham have conceded at least two goals on the final day in each of the last three seasons.
BBC Sport pundit Robbie Savage
"Jose Mourinho got the transfer market right, and got his tactics right, again. That is why he is celebrating his third Premier League title in five full seasons in England.
The best manager in England?
"People call his teams boring, but I call him a winner.
"They beat teams by playing attractive football or dull football, basically whatever it takes to get the job done."
BBC Final Score
Don't forget you can watch all the scores coming through on Final Score on BBC Two from 16:30 BST until 17:15 BST. Coverage starts from 14:30 BST on the BBC Red Button & Online.
Presenter Jason Mohamed is joined in the studio by former Tottenham striker Garth Crooks and ex-Arsenal defender Martin Keown. They will be discussing their strikers of the season and the coach of the year and you can have your say on #bbcfootball.
You can also vote on who you think will go down on this page. The vote closes at 14:55 and the results will be revealed shortly after.
All of the focus is on the bottom of the table and that dreaded 18th spot.
But hang on, maybe there could be some excitement at the top too!
In accordance with Premier League rules, there would be a play-off to determine third place - and automatic Champions League entry - in the unlikely event that Manchester United and Arsenal finish level on points, goal difference and goals scored.
For that to happen there would need to be a seven-goal swing in United's favour, with Louis van Gaal's side scoring at least five goals at Hull.
For example, if United win 5-0 and Arsenal lose 2-0 at home to West Brom, or a 5-1 win to United coupled with a 3-0 Arsenal defeat. Head-to-head doesn't come into it. When would this game take place?
Pass. The calendar's full.
