Positive start for Stevenage, with Dean Parrett's deflected shot earning them an early corner, which the Shrimpers clear at the second attempt after Boro's Ben Kennedy goes down in the box. No penalty says referee Graham Scott.

"In stark contrast to the perfect summer evening which was Sunday night's first leg at the Lamex Stadium, it could hardly be wetter at Roots Hall tonight.

"It has been raining virtually all day in Essex and they have had plastic covers on the pitch to ensure this game goes ahead.

"There's nothing damp about the atmosphere though. Both sets of fans are in the mood for a night to remember."

It's fair to say Stevenage boss Graham Westley felt that his side didn't make the most of home advantage in Sunday's first leg.

But he's confident that Boro, who won four of their last six games to reach the play-offs, will put on a better show at Roots Hall.

"I have got a feeling we will be a side that is drawn to the finish line," he told BBC Three Counties Radio.

"It is in our nature, it is in our make-up and you can definitely feel the confidence and the authority within the squad growing. There is a strong sense of belief in us.

"We have had a long hard look at ourselves from the first leg. We were disappointed with what we did, we know we have got more in us and we know that our level wasn't good enough."

Southend boss Phil Brown felt his side were the better team at the Lamex Stadium and is confident that trend will continue in this evening's meeting.

"Both sides have had a look at each other now and there's certainly an opportunity for us to win the game," Brown, whose side lost to Burton in last season's play-off semi-finals, told BBC Essex.

"I don't want the players going out there trying to win the game in the first minute though, because then you're taking risks and there's no need for that. We just need to play the sort of football we know we can."

Southend goalkeeper Daniel Bentley might not have been playing tonight had it not been for Peter Schmeichel - not that the Manchester United legend would know a lot about it.

Bentley, 21, was given a choice at the age of 10 whether to become a left-back or a keeper.

Opting for the latter has proved a wise decision as he kept 19 clean sheets last season and this term has set a new, and currently unbroken, club record of 12 successive shut outs at home.

He's also just been named the Football League's young player of the month for April.

Kalika Mehta found out a bit more about the Shrimpers' Schmeichel.

"Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth has called for his side's fans to 'get Adams Park place rocking' in his programme notes. Like they need any geeing up...

'The Chairboys are hoping to end a three-year stay in the Football League's bottom tier, and after surviving relegation on the final day of last season, tonight is the culmination of a remarkable turnaround for this club.

"Ainsworth himself will be hoping to banish some Wembley demons, having lost there as a 21-year-old playing for Preston against Wycombe in 1994.

"The man in his opposite dugout John Sheridan had good memories of the national stadium, scoring the winner for Sheffield Wednesday against Manchester United in the 1991 League Cup final.

"He will be hoping top scorer Reuben Reid will return to form tonight, having only scored once in his last seven games, a barren spell by his terms."

  11. Another away day?published at 19:29 British Summer Time 14 May 2015

The last six matches between the two clubs have all been won by the away side - a repeat of that tonight could be enough to take Plymouth Argyle to Wembley on 23 May.

For the avoidance of doubt, by the way, away goals are NOT a consideration in the play-offs, but penalties are very much part of the equation…

It goes without saying that Argyle need to score tonight - but Pilgrims boss John Sheridan's focus is on a more defensively disciplined display to avoid the tie being taken out of their grasp. I don't think we're going to see four up top and Luke McCormick going up for every corner…

"I feel as though we've got to keep a clean sheet," Sheridan told BBC Devon.

"I'm confident that we can get a goal. I feel as though we're still right bang in the tie. I know we've got to score a goal, so we've got to try to force the issue and get at them, but at the same time there's 90 minutes."

Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth probably has quite a bit on his plate at the moment, but if there's anyone who would appreciate Wood's talents then it's him.

If you notice an unusually rhythmic percussion sound emanating from the away end at Adams Park tonight, there might just be a good reason. Bastille drummer - and Argyle fanatic - Chris 'Woody' Wood (right) is on the sticks for the first time.

"I'm probably more nervous doing this than I was on the main Isle of Wight stage in front of 40,000 people," the 29-year-old, who has been a summariser on Argyle's games several times for BBC Radio Devon, said.

"From what I've been told it's quite common for the drum to be passed around during the game, so I'm not against that idea. If someone else fancies a go they're more than welcome."

He might need to learn the backbeat for Bob Marley & The Wailers classic 'Three Little Birds' which has become the unofficial anthem for Argyle's play-off adventure., external

Southend midfielder Michael Timlin starts despite having 15 stitches inserted into a head wound after a clash of heads with Stevenage captain Bira Dembele on Sunday. John White, Ryan Leonard and Will Atkinson are also included after doubts about their fitness.

Dembele, who had seven stitches of his own, does miss out for Stevenage, with Ronnie Henry on the bench after a hip injury.

Goalkeeper Alex Lynch starts for Wycombe again, with first choice Matt Ingram not ready to return from his knee injury, while Hogan Ephraim replaces the injured Steven Craig. Striker Paul Hayes is also fit to start.

For the visitors, Dominic Blizzard comes in to the side in place of Gethin Jones, with manager John Sheridan resisting the temptation to change his strikeforce in light of the impact made by substitutes Zak Ansah and Jason Banton on Saturday.
