Could we see record signing Salomon Rondon make his bow for the Baggies today? The £12m man is on the bench today.

For Watford, £4m winger Steven Berghuis, a summer acquisition from AZ, could also be in line to make his debut as a substitute.

You want to get a point or two on the board very quickly, just for confidence’s sake. If you get something today, you can build on that. If you lose your first game and then again today - and you’ve got to play Chelsea next week - the fans could get a little bit despondent.

Most pundits didn't give Watford a prayer of staying up. But while it's still early days, Quique Sanchez Flores's side did more than enough on the opening weekend to suggest they can confound those gloomy predictions, putting in an excellent performance to take a point from Goodison Park.

But as we all know, home form is the foundation on which promoted sides build their Premier League survival. If Watford can keep the feelgood factor going at Vicarage Road, they'll be in with a great chance of staying up.

  5. Can Tony atone?published at 14:42

As we mentioned, it was a rotten start to the season for West Brom, who were brushed aside by Man City. And afterwards, Tony Pulis pulled no punches as he singled out the man responsible for the embarrassing performance: himself.

"I take responsibility for the way we set up," he said., external "I have to look at it and say if I did it again I would probably do it differently."

Now, I for one salute Big Tone's honesty. But you don't get points for candour in the Premier League. It's a results business, dontcha know? He'll be anxious to get his tactics spot on today.

Pulis has set out his side today to not give goals away, like last year – keep it tight, disciplined – that’s what Tony’s about and that’s how his teams get results.

Watford make just one change from their opening day draw with Everton: Odion Ighalo, who came off the bench to score last weekend, gets a start, replacing Jose Holebas.

West Brom take more drastic action after their 3-0 defeat to Manchester City, with three changes: James Chester and Joleon Lescott drop out of the defence, replaced by Jonas Olsson and Gareth McAuley, while Cluadio Yacob comes in for James McClean to stiffen the midfield. New signing Salomon Rondon is on the bench.

Look, I know, I know - it's early days. Still, no-one likes to be bottom, do they?

That's the position that West Brom find themselves in after a comprehensive 3-0 defeat to Manchester City.

Today the Baggies take on Watford, who were many people's pre-season tip for 20th place, but impressed in their 2-2 draw with Everton on the opening weekend.
