Briefly back to those rumours about Kevn De Bruyne, former Bayern Munich and Aston Villa midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger was a guest on Sportsworld on BBC World Service earlier, and he had some interesting things to say about the potential move for the Wolfsburg man.

"While he was at Chelsea, maybe he didn't have a good mentality, but he's become more mature, and he's taken on a bigger role in the team," says Hitzlsperger.

"He's the best player at Wolfsburg. It takes some quality to be the best player in the entire league that he was last season in the Bundesliga. That's why I think he's matured and is ready to make to next step and go to Manchester City.”

Speaking of impressive debuts, Yohan Cabaye got himself up and running at Crystal Palace with a goal as Alan Pardew's side beat newly-promoted Norwich 3-1.

Pardew has reinvigorated the Selhurst Park club since his arrival in January. The former Eagles winger led the club to a 10th-place finish last term, their highest in the Premier League.

And despite managing them for only 19 games, he has now matched the most number of wins by a Palace boss in the Premier League, levelling the 11 victories of Tony Pulis, Alan Smith and Steve Coppell.

I've heard it said by Rio Ferdinand that it would be a bad move to go to Chelsea [for John Stones]. I think it would be a fantastic move. He would be playing under the best manager in the Premier League. And he'd be watching and learning from the best centre-half there has been in the Premier League in John Terry."

If Chelsea do make a move for John Stones, they might want to ignore his performance on Saturday.

The Everton defender was sent tumbling by the tricky footwork of Odion Ighalo, who scored Watford's opener in a 2-2 draw.

It wasn't the best of displays for Everton, with Ross Barkley's thunderbolt one of the few highlights.

    Chelsea 2-2 Swansea

Were Chelsea a bit stale yesterday? They started the game with no new faces in the side - a contrast to Aston Villa who had six new players in their 1-0 win at Bournemouth.

The Blues defence was a bit shaky. Time to get out the chequebook and snap up John Stones from Everton?

Chelsea began their title defence against Swansea on Saturday, and they certainly endured a bumpy opening day.

The Blues had Thibaut Courtois sent off as they were held to a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge.

Unsurprisingly, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho was not happy...

Right, to kick things off in our look back at yesterday - one of the more bizarre moments from Saturday.

Leicester started life under Claudio Ranieri with a dominant 4-2 win against Sunderland, but what inspired such an impressive display? A stirring team talk? Smart tactics? Nope, Ranieri asking his players to channel their inner Kasabian beforehand....

"I told my players, 'when you go on the pitch and you hear the song Fire from Kasabian, that means they want warriors'," said Ranieri.

"Kasabian are a fantastic rock band from Leicester and I think the guitar man, Serge, is Italian. It’s good and I think the fans love fighters. We are fighters."
