These two are having a right old wrestling match. Dusan Tadic teases in a cross from the left and that is the signal for Graziano Pelle and Sebastien Bassong to start grappling. Pelle slips the grasp of the Norwich defender, but can only glance his header wide from 10 yards.

Pelle appeals for a penalty, but the referee is happy there was no significant obstruction from Bassong.

After being blitzed for the first twenty minutes, Norwich are slowly peeping over the parapet.

Nathan Redmond's deflected long-ranger is easily gathered by Maarten Stekelenburg in the Southampton goal. Redmond is looking bright though, taking on Matt Targett with relish.

A massive chance, massively against the run of play.

Graham Dorrans volleys the ball back across goal and a disorientated Southampton defence have lost track of Cameron Jerome.

The ball is slightly in front of the Norwich striker, but a full-blooded diving header would have got him there. As it is he hesitates as to which body part to fling at the ball, goes for his head, but too late and glances wide.

As the ball looped up for him, back to goal, you could see the cogs whirling.

Graziano Pelle launches into a hugely-ambitious bicycle kick, but it looked better than he connected. The ball bobbles well wide with John Ruddy untroubled.

Saints enjoying territorial dominance so far. Plenty going on in the Norwich goalmouth.

Sadio Mane has the chance to mano a mano against an isolated Sebastien Bassong as Norwich are stretched again.

But the Southampton man's touch is too heavy, allowing Bassong to usher him away from goal.

Norwich joint majority shareholders Delia Smith and Michael Wynn Jones are in the house.

Delia might be cooking up one of her hell-raising motivational monologues for half-time. Norwich look like they need it.

Sadio Mane keeps John Ruddy busy with a low curling shot. The opener feels like a matter of minutes away and it is only going in at one end.

Ding-ding! Round one of Graziano Pelle v Sebastien Bassong goes the Norwich defender's way as he does just enough to get ahead of Pelle, putting the Italian off as they climb for a corner.

The ball flies just wide from close range.

Dusan Tadic looks in the mood. The Southampton playmaker is floating to the left with Steven Davis in a more central role and he draws a foul out of Steven Whitaker with a neat shift of feet.

Southampton are making the early running. A neat short corner routine, straight out of the training-ground playbook, sees Dusan Tadic clip the ball into the far post where Jose Fonte has found a pocket of space.

The big centre-back plants a side-foot volley over the top as he goes for placement over power.

A superb sprawling stop from John Ruddy, flying to his right to push the ball out of the top corner.

It had been sent on that course by a James Ward-Prowse free-kick which swooped and dipped over the wall.
