Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville says on Sky Sports that United have to sign a striker before the end of the transfer window.

Jamie Carragher quite rightly counters by asking who they can get - now?

How come it's ok for Man Utd fans to slate their team? Any other fans do it and we're called 'fickle'

Michael Laudrup's biggest weakness was poor results against the top teams. Monk has got Swansea playing fearlessly against anyone.

Swansea are up to fourth after that fine win - Garry Monk was fairly non-committal when he was asked how high they can finish this season. But what do you think?

  10. 'We weren't at our best'published at 18:26 British Summer Time 30 August 2015

    Swansea 2-1 Man Utd

Swansea boss Garry Monk on BBC Sport:

"It was an amazing atmosphere. The first half, Manchester United played very well and made it very difficult for us.

"We showed our character. I don't think we were at our best, but we were organised and kept our shape.

"They were causing us problems centrally. I changed it with four midfielders inside and that allowed us to get into the game.

    "It is three points."

"I haven't got a clue what Van Gaal is trying to do.What's their system? Surely Manchester United have got to play with a bit more pace and thrust and tempo. They seemed desperate."

  14. 'We lost in five minutes'published at 18:22 British Summer Time 30 August 2015

    Swansea 2-1 Man Utd

Man Utd boss Louis van Gaal on BBC Sport: "We controlled the game for 85 minutes but we lost in five minutes and that cannot happen.

"They changed the shape and we had to be compact. We forgot that maybe because we are too dominant. We have to learn from that.

"First you have to create chances, with scoring goals you need luck, that we don't have at the moment.

"I have enjoyed our football but you need the result and we lost again. All the players were very motivated to beat them."

A dream ticket of a pass Awal...

Instead of deliberating on Man Utd's poor showing, can we talk about the excellent pass from my countryman, Andre Ayew?

The only positive from this defeat is that LvG may finally realise that we need at least 1 world class signing before the window closes.

    Swansea 2-1 Man Utd

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal was very non committal on the close of the transfer window...

He told Sky Sports: "When you are scouting players, you know already which players you can buy, it is not the last moment. When you see the game you will see we are the dominant team.

"You are asking me the same questions."

  17. Keep De Gea?published at 18:18 British Summer Time 30 August 2015

    Swansea 2-1 Man Utd

    Ian Wright
    BBC Radio 5 live

"Manchester United are cutting off their nose to spite their face. I would rather have David De Gea in goal whatever his frame of mind is. What's he going to do, deliberately let goals in?"

  18. Monk makes the switchpublished at 18:17

    Swansea 2-1 Man Utd

Interestingly, in the New York Times article, external on Garry Monk I mentioned before the game, Monk mentioned playing a diamond formation against United.

Louis van Gaal should read our live page...

    Quote Message

During the week leading to that game, Monk had made an unusual tactical change, switching from the team’s standard formation to a diamond-shaped setup in midfield. Despite having just a few days to practice it, the Swansea players did exactly what they were supposed to do.

So Manchester United couldn't cope with Swansea changing formations. Is that a concern, United fans?

  20. 'We could not cope'published at 18:14 British Summer Time 30 August 2015

    Swansea 2-1 Man Utd

Man Utd boss Louis van Gaal on Sky Sports:  "The opponent changed their shape and we could not cope, that is not good.

"We lost in that five minutes and it is a pity because we controlled the game.

"You have to be compact, we were probably too dominant to have the sense to do that.

"We could have scored much more goals, that is not the problem. You need a little bit of luck."
