  1. League One previewpublished at 13:43

It is tight at the top - there are four points separating the top nine.

Gillingham, who have a one-point advantage over Coventry and Walsall after six games, face a Blackpool side who recorded their first win since January against Scunthorpe last week.

Second-placed Coventry are away at Scunthorpe, while third-placed  Walsall  host Doncaster, who are without a manager after Paul Dickov left the club earlier in the week.

Bottom club Crewe are at home to fellow strugglers Millwall.

    Everton 2-1 Chelsea

Nemanja Matic's goal for Chelsea was magnificent. But his play for Everton's first was anything but. Steven Naismith walked past him far too easily 30 yards out before laying the ball out wide, Matic then failed to track his run into the middle and Naismith was left with a simple header from six yards out.

    Jimmy Armfield
BBC Radio 5 live at Goodison Park

"John Stones does look mature for his age. When the ball is around him he’s very composed for someone so young. He doesn't panic, he tries to play the ball out and his positional play is very good.

"And I tell you what, he's added to himself from this first-half performance."

Mickey Wallis: Why is Jose untouchable at Chelsea? He talks such a massive game and if they lose today he should pay the price with his job

Luke Barnard: So many fake Chelsea fans calling for Mourinho to go. He will stay and there's plenty of time left to turn things around

Dave Toole: Seriously? Some Chelsea fans are saying Jose should go? Modern football fan in a nutshell.

    Everton 2-1 Chelsea

An excellent half of football and a welcome tonic after the international break.

Chelsea scored six at Goodison just over a year ago. They are capable of doing so again. On paper, anyway...

    Everton 2-1 Chelsea

    Jimmy Armfield
BBC Radio 5 live at Goodison Park

"We had plenty of goals when these teams met last year and frankly Everton should have had four after the first 25 minutes today.

"Chelsea have come back strongly though and Jose Mourinho will be thinking his team are right back in it. Everton had to see that first half out."

Everton will be pretty pleased with this scoreline, but Chelsea were coming on strong as the first half ended. Follow the game in depth here.

  9. Championship updatepublished at 13:32

We're just about to get back under way in the Championship where QPR and Nottingham Forest are hoping to open the scoring after a goalless first half. More on that here.

    West Brom v Southampton

Tony Pulis once replied to one of my texts asking for an interview in the affirmative. Then signed off with a kiss. I've never met the bloke. Nice touch though. I wonder if he'll make Saido Berahino feel wanted with a little hug? That makes everything better.

  11. MOTD commentator's viewpublished at 13:27 British Summer Time 12 September 2015

West Brom v Southampton (15:00 BST)

    Simon Brotherton
    MOTD commentator at The Hawthorns

"Saturday's teamsheet will be interesting because both clubs had an unhappy player trying to force through a move to Tottenham just ahead of the recent transfer deadline.

"But neither Saido Berahino nor Victor Wanyama were allowed to leave as West Brom and Southampton adopted the same stance and said 'no'.

"Berahino's threat via Twitter to not play for the club again reflected poorly on him, but Wanyama kept his counsel and has impressed Ronald Koeman with his attitude and renewed commitment since the international break.

"Koeman says he's prepared to forget it and Wanyama could play in this one. Berahino had dinner with Tony Pulis on Monday, but may have to settle for a spot on the bench."

Femi John Atoyebi:  Chelsea back into the game!

Jeremiah Kariuki:  What a strike! What a goal! Everton caught napping by Matic.

John Dunthorne:  As soon as that left Matic's foot we knew where it was going.

  13. Will Saido start?published at 13:24

West Brom v Southampton (15:00 BST)

There's a lot of team news to look forward to today. It'll start flooding through around 14:00 BST. Then we'll find out if Tony Pulis will start with Saido Berahino after the striker's TDD meltdown?

Well, he was keeping the answer under his trusty cap this week.

"He could play on Saturday," said TP. "My big issue with Saido is he is immature at times in the way he reacts. Something he has done in the two windows since I've been here, his reaction has not been sensible.

"But I'm more concerned with getting Saido getting back playing football."

Dominic Kennedy:  Mourhino has to go. He is not only affecting the team with negativity but also the rest of the club. Own up to your mistakes

Derrick Dontoh:  A potential fifth defeat in eight games is so not Mourinho-esque. Chelsea need inspiration from him.

Dennis Ethan:  John Stones is so good at keeping possession albeit being under pressure from the opponent. Fantastic defender!

The following tweets were, admittedly, sent when Chelsea were 2-0 down. But they are still losing so perhaps the sentiments remain the same?

    Jimmy Armfield
BBC Radio 5 live at Goodison Park

    "The crowd have been silenced.

"Nobody closed Nemanja Matic down - he had so much time and the Everton players seemed to be looking for him to make a pass.

"But he really thumped the ball and it absolutely flew in. Suddenly Chelsea are back in the game."

    GOAL - Everton 2-1 Chelseapublished at 13:20

    Nemanja Matic (36 mins)

Nemanja Matic is pulling Chelsea up by the scruff of the neck. He picks up the ball 30 yards from goal and hammers it with his left foot beyond Tim Howard and into the top corner. What a strike - his first in the Premier League since this same fixture last year (August, 2014).

    Game on.

  18. 'Palace can hurt Man City'published at 13:16 British Summer Time 12 September 2015

    Kevin Kilbane
    BBC Radio 5 live

"I can’t see anything but a Manchester City win this season in the Premier League. Kevin de Bruyne will only make them stronger.

"But this game today will suit Palace’s pace and power. With players like Yannick Bolasie and Wilfried Zaha, they could hurt City if they soak up their pressure and penetrate them. City are vulnerable when left on one-on-one positions. They just haven’t faced that this season."

  19. 11 point lead for City?published at 13:15

It's just been pointed out to me that Manchester City can go 11 points clear of Chelsea today if Everton win and they do the job against Crystal Palace. Ouch.

    Everton 2-0 Chelsea

    Jimmy Armfield
BBC Radio 5 live at Goodison Park

"Everton have had four clear goal-scoring opportunities since the 18th minute.

"And that's against supposedly one of the best defensive teams. Chelsea have given away so many goals recently and they've given two more away today, already. That tells you the real story. They've got a problem."
