    Dinamo 2-1 Arsenal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger speaking to BT Sport:  "It is not the way we wanted to begin the competition. We were a bit unlucky. We faced a Zagreb team who were committed.

"We gave it all until the end but unfortunately couldn't come back.

"The first yellow for Olivier Giroud is a foul for us and the second is an accident. They got away with obvious fouls many times.

"We have enough games to come back. We focus to win our next home game and I'm sure we can beat Zagreb at home."

"There were a few holding midfielders around - Morgan Schneiderlin, Sami Khedira and even Bastian Schweinsteiger - this summer and I think that's an area Arsenal should have gone for."

More from Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho on BT Sport : "Ruben Loftus-Cheek showed personality, he wanted to play.We played him and Fabregas because they are fast thinking, fast moving the ball and that helps the team because we found lots of attacking situations.I am really happy with his performance.

"The most important thing was to win. If some players had good individual performances, good for them, if some score a goal that was also important.

"The only negative thing was Willian's injury. Apart from that everything was positive. I have a lot of thinking always. I try to read the game before it starts, and I have a lot of thinking before Arsenal (on Saturday at 12:45 BST)."

    Chelsea 4-0 Maccabi Tel Aviv

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho on BT Sport: "I am happy with the result and the performance. The same way I was not in hell with bad results, I am not in heaven we won a game.

"It was a good victory, you could see from minute one we were going to win the game. Missing the penalty was a good thing to test the team, we must be really strong to believe and the players have played very well, they showed a good attitude, good with the ball, it was a good victory.

"Good individual performance helps the players' self esteem and confidence, good collective performances are also good. I know some experts will say Maccabi are not a top team, I agree, but they are a Champions League team and to beat a team you need to play well and we played well.

"We were good in the different phases of the game."

Andrew in Richhill : Oh Arsenal! Why do you do this every year? Just spend some money on the players you so clearly need and then you'll be in a position to win games like these, you'll be able to top your group, and maybe, just maybe, you'll be able to get past the last-16 stage of the Champions League.

Laurence Austin : As an Arsenal fan this game is obviously so frustrating but at least it happens in our first game, not like last season against AS Monaco where it mattered more. Better to iron out the kinks early, and also, Walcott should now get that run of games he deserves after Giroud's rush of blood to the head!

Kyle in Croydon : Not much has been made of Loftus-Cheek this evening. Man of the match performance and with Chelsea missing out on £80 million Paul Pogba, he could be the perfect alternative.

Reuben Loftus-Cheek looked at home in the Chelsea midfield too. He was the heartbeat of the side in the middle of the park - as this heat map shows - and continually supplied the ball to Cesc Fabregas knowing the ex-Barcelona man could truly hurt the visitors.

The biggest plus for Chelsea tonight? It's got to be the return to form of Cesc Fabregas. He ran the show, playing 125 passes - 55 more than anyone else. More than 90% of them found their target. Oh yeah... and he delivered the exquisite cross which led to Diego Costa's goal. A good night all round.

"One of Chelsea's problems this season is that their big players have not been playing well.

"Well, Diego Costa made one and scored one, Cesc Fabregas made one and scored one and Oscar is back and scored one. The one player missing from that is Eden Hazard. It's just not happening for him."

    Dinamo 2-1 Arsenal

Here's Mathieu Debuchy's touch map. In my opinion the right-back was at fault for Dinamo Zagreb's opening goal. Should he be piling forward as much as he does? The end product doesn't justify it - he gave the ball away 19 times tonight and put in just one cross. It wasn't a good one at that.

Patriots 1-0 : Chelsea the only English team to win in the Champions League this week shows how weak the Premier League is.

David Southall : Embarrassing evidence of folly of Wenger & his transfer 'strategy'. Strikers now 4 goals in 6 games.

Charleschip : People can blame Wenger all they like but the players only turned up for one half. They need to take more responsibility.

  18. Player reactionpublished at 21:53

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas on BT Sport : "The players were feeling it, like every big club we need results and performances. We were dominant and hopefully that is the start of a big run."

Chelsea skipper Gary Cahill on BT Sport:  "We have had a difficult start but we know the players we have got. It is just what we need, the perfect lift. Arsenal on Saturday is time to make a statement."

"Have Chelsea drawn a line in the sand and put their troubles behind them? Tel Aviv were not a good enough team to make that kind of decision about them. I would say 4-0 was the absolute minimum of winning this game by.

"You could see seeds coming through but is it all fixed yet? No not yet."
