Jake Dickson:  Because the law of averages will spit one out eventually....right?

Leo Dennis:  An English club will win the UCL because we are the best league in the world but we Chel-sea about that!

The Maccabi Tel Aviv fans are making a decent racket inside Stamford Bridge while their team go through the pre-match warm-ups. Should make for a decent atmopshere.

  5. Rested or dropped?published at 18:52

Chelsea v Maccabi Tel Aviv (91:45 BST)

Can we take it that Jose Mourinho has dropped Terry, Costa, Matic and Ivanovic? Or is it that he wants them all nicely rested ahead of the game against Arsenal on Saturday?

After all, Chelsea usually make light work of these early Champions League group games...

    Time for a change

    Jermaine Jenas
Former England midfielder on BBC 5 live

"There is no reason not to make those changes. There are players who will have worked hard in training and will have watched the games and thought why I have I not got the chance? Perhaps it can inspire Chelsea to play differently."

Too many Chelsea stars gone missing

    Jermaine Jenas
Former England midfielder on BBC 5 live

"There are too many players not playing well at the same time. It's as simple as that.

"You can go through the team. In midfield Matic and Fabregas have not turned up and Hazard is not doing what he did last year.

"You can always carry one or two in a team like Chelsea but when you've got sixes and sevens it's inevitable you play football like they have been playing."

  11. A football world without Jose?published at 18:44

    Chelsea v Maccabi Tel Aviv

There's no other place to start tonight, is there? We need to talk about Jose. The man who told us he was special. The man who introduced 'parking the bus' to football lexicon. The man who compared moulding a winning team with making an omelette.

Yes, where would we be without Mr Mourinho? The world would be a much more boring place - that's for sure.

  16. Pricklier than a cactuspublished at 18:36

Chelsea v Maccabi Tel Aviv (19:45 BST)

Evening all... Jose Mourinho never disappoints, does he? Has he ever delivered a boring news conference?

The Happy One became The Prickly One yesterday when it was put to him by our very own Ben Smith that he has failed to leave a legacy at any of his clubs after the initial rush of trophies.

But he's in it for the long haul at Chelsea, right?
