"That's exactly what Mourinho would have wanted. His star striker getting on the score sheet and a Fabregas assist. It was a fabulous pass and brilliant from Costa."

    Diego Costa (58 mins)

Chelsea are in cruise control now. Cesc Fabregas floats the ball into the box, Oscar's run makes room for Diego Costa and the striker powers a shot, via his shin, into the top corner from inside the area. A confidence booster if ever I saw one.

Bayern Munich have finally found the breakthrough at Olympiakos,  with Thomas Muller bagging, while Hakan Calhanoglu put Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 up against BATE Borisov.

  4. CLOSE!published at 21:02

    Chelsea 2-0 Maccabi Tel Aviv

So close to a goal for the visitiors as Avraham Rikan's volley brushes off Nasakhare Igiebor and goes inches wide with goalkeeper Asmir Begovic beaten. Bizarrely a corner is given.

"That could be that for Arsenal. Down to 10 men and two down after a powerful header from Fernandes beats Ospina."

    Junior Fernandes (58 mins)

Oh dear. Oh dear, oh dear.

Junior Fernandes, who won the corner with a deflected shot, evades Laurent Koscielny and heads home at the near post. It's all going wrong for Arsenal in Croatia.

QPR did well to keep striker Charlie Austin after relegation and the front man has bagged for the home side, restoring parity against Blackburn. It is now 1-1 in that one.

    Dinamo 1-0 Arsenal

A great ball from The Ox puts Mesut Ozil through on goal, but offside is called. Tight call... and maybe a wrong call.

  10. Postpublished at 20:56

    Dinamo 1-0 Arsenal

Mathieu Debuchy is having a shocker tonight - giving the ball away and allowing Dinamo to break on Arsenal. He does make a good tackle, but it's another 30 seconds before the Gunners truly clear the danger.

    Chelsea 2-0 Maccabi Tel Aviv

    Jermaine Jenas
Former England midfielder on BBC 5 live

"I think the message from Jose Mourinho will be more: get more goals and get the type of scoreline that will give us confidence and can Costa and Hazard get a goal? It's not a great Tel Aviv side we are watching."

Reuben Loftus-Cheek looks the business. At 19, he's almost the perfect physical specimen - dictating play when he picks up the ball from his centre-backs and puts his side back on the front foot. Great prospect.

Luke : Relief all around Chelsea, a GK howler and a dodgy penalty. Not a confidence building night so far for Chelseas expensive squad.

Lewis Lloyd : Hazard needs a rest which is a shame as he's our best player. Hoping Loftus-Cheek is kept on, he's been brilliant so far.

Tunde Akere : Loftus Cheek is by far my man of the match tonight, he's been magnificent, reason JM said he is talented.

Chelsea haven't been vintage, but they've done enough and deserve their two-goal lead. They are producing the sort of clinical Champions League performance which Manchester City must wish would come their way. They are streetwise in this competition.
