"There are parademedics on the pitch, and another 10 or 12 members of coaching staff around the player.

"There is a real concern here, I think he's had a really nasty blow. Let's hope he's not too badly concussed.

"There is no blame attached at all though - the ball was there to be won and James Chester went for it."

"It doesn't look good. James Chester clattered into him, that is really nasty, I just hope the boy is OK. Chester's collided with the back of his head, he really went into the challenge hard.

"Credit to the medical staff, they were on quickly and the players, too, knew the urgency of the situation - they were waving for them to come on."

Martin Roach: Let's not forget that Wales reached the quarter-finals of the European Championships in 1976, before the competition format changed.

True that, Martin, although as crazy as it sounds, the Euros used to actually begin at the semi-final stage.

Back in 1976, the quarter-finals was still a qualifying round...

Spine-tingling stuff as the Welsh national anthem is belted out by the near-35,000 crowd inside the Cardiff City Stadium. One end of the ground hoists aloft coloured placards to display the Red Dragon, with the Welsh football motto of 'Together, Stronger' clearly visible. "We're going to France!" sing the home fans. Not the last time we will hear that tonight...

"This is the opportunity for Chris Coleman to play a few players on the fringes of his side. David Vaughan, Jonathan Williams and Sam Vokes, who is coming back from injury, are all starting.

"I'm sure the regulars will be disappointed to miss out but Coleman is showing a little bit of loyalty to those who haven't been in the side every match."

  14. Relaxing evening for Wales - Hornepublished at 19:41

    Wales v Andorra (19:45 BST)

Wales have become accustomed to dead-rubber qualifying matches over the years - but tonight is different. Very different. No muted atmosphere, no half-empty stadium, no rueful thoughts of another failed campaign.

"It will be a stress-free night - a night of celebration," former Wales captain Barry Horne told BBC Radio 5 live.

"I'm glad there is nothing on this game, there are no third parties that need or expect a performance from Wales. They can relax."

    Wales v Andorra (19:45 BST)

Wales boss Chris Coleman: "We know that we are representing our country again tonight so we have go to do things right – we will probably have a lot of possession, Andorra will defend in numbers and that is their prerogative.

"It will be a great atmosphere, the last one of the campaign, we have got what we wanted but we have to do a professional job again tonight.

"We are on unknown territory and it is a fantastic feeling."

  18. For the hardcore permutation fanspublished at 19:36

    The picture in Group A

The last bit of permutation business to settle takes in the wondrous scenario of which team qualifies for Euro 2016 as the best third-placed team.

As we know, the teams who finish third in the nine groups are guaranteed a spot in the play-offs.

And of those nine, the one with the most points from matches against the top five teamsin their group only will be whisked off to France directly. Results against the bottom team do not count.

As it stands, Hungary are leading the waywith 15 points.OnlyTurkey can overtake them, but they have to beat Iceland, and hope Kazakhstan climb off the bottom of Group A by beating Latvia.

This is how the above scenario would work: At the moment, Turkey have 15 points in total, but taking away their two victories over bottom team Kazakhstan leaves nine points.

Victory over Iceland would take their points total to 18, and if Latvia finished bottom instead of Kazakhstan, only two points would be taken off, because Turkey drew against them twice.

    Got that?
