Lee on the text: Imagine if Diego Costa was playing today. With him and Mitrovic they would had have to have put boxing ring style ropes around the pitch.
Ashwin in London: Sincerely hope the Tyneside clubs get relegated this season, permanent passengers in the PL. Ashwin, London

Southampton fans seem surprised but pleased with their victory over Swansea.....
Ashley Drouet on Facebook: Wasn't quite expecting it to be so comfortable today. Whether that says more about us or Swansea I'm not sure, but it was a very good performance and a much needed 3 points.
Patrick Parnaby: Sadio was the Mane man today

Lisa in London on text: Fabregas keeps getting caught in possession- seems to have mislaid his magic hat so far this season. Hope he finds it soon!
Luke in Somerset: Matic is being bullied in the middle of the park by Perez, a man who is half his size...

Ayoze Perez (42 mins)
Schoolboy defending from Chelsea but a fine finish from Ayoze Perez. Kurt Zouma and Branislav Ivanovic neglect to head clear a cross from the right and Perez brings the ball down to finish off the post. Boom.

Alfie Snow on Twitter: Wouldn't be surprised at another Chelsea loss, Newcastle will always be our bogey team!
Rob Millward: The worst ive seen us play in years... No fight no pace no nothing at the moment... We're been outplayed by NEWCASTLE!

Messi injury
It's not often you get a good honest managerial quote.
"I'm always sad when one of my players gets injured and even more when it's Messi," said Barcelona manager Luis Enrique after Messi was ruled out for two months.
"But we need to accept the challenge and understand that this is part of football and get through it. We will not change our style of play without Messi, although there are many moments in games in which Messi liberates us and finds solutions for us, so we'll have to strengthen in other areas and the team will have to step up without him."

Rijaz on Twitter: If Spurs score four, it's sure that Arsenal want to score five somehow.
Paul Hallett: Big Manchester United fan, not used to seeing us play like this, nor do I like it, but I can see it appears to be working. Nice to be top.

West Ham 2-2 Norwich
Quote MessageWhen you concede with a minute to go, it is always disappointing but we will take encouragement from how well we played. We went for the winner and Nathan popped up but unfortunately we concede and it is not nice. I thought Nathan could have an impact on the game and we dominated the middle. The two team both went at it and tried to win the game and did well. I am pleased with the run but we had three points in our hands today. We have to do enough to get the points on the board.
Alex Neil, Norwich manager
Newcastle 0-0 Chelsea
Newcastle are a totally different side. They've had a fine spell of pressure and force Asmir Begovic into a pair of saves. First Ayoze Perez is on target, and then Daryl Janmaat has a go.

Luke Barnard: In a weekend for ending goal droughts, what a time it would be for Begovic to end his! Two years since his last against Southampton!
DJ Gallagher: Two English players out of 22 in Newcastle vs Chelsea lineups. There's the problem in English football

Stoke 2-1 Bournemouth
Stoke manager Mark Hughes: "It was an important win - we probably played better in other games and got beaten, this was about getting the three points. We played with a bit of apprehension in the second half which allowed them back into the game, but showed good courage after that as it would have been very easy for Bournemouth to gain momentum after their equaliser but we didn't allow that. Great ball by Glen Johnson for the goal, great finish by Mame Diouf." (On Xherdan Shaqiri, who went off injured in first-half stoppage time) "I haven't had an update yet - it looked like a hamstring so we'll settle him down tomorrow, have a scan on Monday and see what the damage is. He walked off so hopefully it isn't too bad."

So Manchester United are top of the Premier League....
Luke Richardson on Facebook: This so called 'philosophy' looks like it's coming together.. 1 or 2 players still needed I reckon.
Martin Savigar: Tough next four games for united next though.

West Ham 2-2 Norwich
Quote MessageI am happy that we showed the character at the end and we deserved it. A draw is a fair result and they are probably gutted because of the timing of the last goal. All the teams we have played at home, apart from Newcastle, are all very energetic teams. They enjoy defending. If you match them in the awareness and the basics, then we are better than them on the pitch. If you drop yourselves, five or 10 percent, they use it and play well. We know what Andy Carroll brings us. He needs a few games to get to his best and was out for a long time. He is useful. It is not hard, but almost impossible to defend against him sometimes.
Slaven Bilic, West Ham manager
Liverpool 3-2 Aston Villa
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers told BBC Sport: "Our only disappointment today was the two sloppy goals we conceded, both down to mistakes. Thankfully today the two Daniels up front were outstanding. Sturridge showed what we missed for over a year – he makes the difference and helps you compete. His finishes were brilliant. He’s nowhere near 100% fit yet. There was a couple of moments when he’d be away at his best but wasn't today. His two goals were the difference.
"There’s a hysteria around the club. However criticism comes, whether deserved or undeserved, you don’t like it. What has surprised me with it is we’ve lost fewer games than Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal in all competitions. We’ve only lost two. There’s scrutiny on the players but it’s made us stronger. We know we have some top players to come back in. The players gave everything, I am proud of them. We looked creative and dynamic today."

Can Manchester United win the league? Who is going down?
#bbcfootball
Adam Toth on Facebook: Finally Leicester have been bought down a peg. And it's great to see Alexis getting back to his best.
Alan Tate: If Manchester United keep improving, there will be no catching them.
Murray Young: Premier League standard getting poorer each season, Barcelona and Real Madrid are light years ahead for some reason or another.

Newcastle 0-0 Chelsea
Bitty, scrappy start to the game in Newcastle where champions Chelsea are yet to get going. As you'd expect, a nervy atmosphere inside the ground as Loic Remy pokes one wide...

Shane Daly on Twitter: All Manchester United have to do now is win the next 31 league games & they are champions again, simple.
Jack: Don't see how people can say united have been awful, you don't need to win every game 5-0 to be champions

Southampton 3-1 Swansea
Quote MessageWe have not been up to scratch in the last two away games. We were not focused enough and possibly made too many mistakes today. They punished us and we never recovered from that. All three goals were disappointing. It was poor decision-making and individual errors. It's not good enough for the standard we have set here at the club. We pushed to try to get back. We got the goal then had a couple of chances to make it 3-2. It's difficult to assess straight after the game what went wrong.
Garry Monk, Swansea manager
