He may be the current England manager, but Roy Hodgson has certainly split opinion among supporters of his former clubs. Halmstads BK fans speak up now...

Jack: Anyone but Hodgson back at Anfield. Anyone . Please!

Adam: I'd have Roy back at the Cottage in a heartbeat. England don't know a good thing.

Omari Sinclair: Roy Hodgson back at the Cottage. Highest ever league finish. Shocked the world in Europe. Fulham 4 Juve 1.

It's not all about challenging for Premier League titles, sometimes a little passion goes a long way...

Craig Kent: Would have to be Alan Buckley at Grimsby Town, already had three stints as manager, few trips to Wembley & the current U17 boss.

Daniel James: Keith Alexander for Lincoln City, best tactician we've ever had and full of passion. RIP Big Keith.

Colin Kniveton: We would have Paul Cook back at Chesterfield - the sooner the better!

    Crystal Palace 0-0 West Brom

    David Pleat
Former Tottenham manager on BBC Radio 5 live

"Albion have been resolute and determined but Tony Pulis will be scratching his head wondering where they will get a goal from.

"Palace look more likely, but they have been unable to get a clear chance and their shots have been weak.

"It is an interesting game, there has been a lack of ambition from West Brom, their tactics have worked and they will be happy not to have conceded.

"Palace are more exciting from wide positions but they have not made the correct decision at times. If their tempo stays like this in the second-half and West Brom sit back then surely they will create a goal."

    Crystal Palace 0-0 West Brom

Tony Brown on BBC WM: “In the main it’s been Albion under pressure this first half. They’ve defended doggedly like we thought they’d have to do today but they haven’t been able to get anything going forward.

"Tony Pulis will be happy it’s 0-0 at the break – maybe he can sort one or two things out and change something to allow Albion to get something going forward after half time”

  13. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:33

    Crystal Palace 0-0 West Brom

It's nil-nil at Selhurst Park, and West Brom are lucky to get nil.

Palace have done everything but score. They had 10 shots at goal, the most they have had in the first half of a Premier League game since they were re-promoted in 2013.

City are clearly pleased to be back on home soil for today's Premier League action after their defeat to Tottenham in the capital last weekend.

  15. Palace on the attackpublished at 13:30 British Summer Time 3 October 2015

    Crystal Palace 0-0 West Brom

    David Pleat
Former Tottenham manager on BBC Radio 5 live

"All the attack is coming from Palace, they have had at least seven goal efforts, but West Brom are resisting superbly.

"At the moment Alan Pardew will be the more relaxed of the two managers but he needs a breakthrough."

  16. GREAT SAVE!published at 13:28

    Crystal Palace 0-0 West Brom

Wilfried Zaha has certainly had his wheat-based cereal this morning! He is torturing Chris Brunt down the Palace right, skipping by him all to easily, bringing the ball on to his left foot and then testing Boaz Myhill with a stinging drive.

Villa fans are in nostalgic mood, O'Neill, Little, Saunders...should Tim Sherwood take note?

Darren Roche: Would love to see Martin O'Neill back at #AVFC, external if he'd been given financial backing at time could be top four side.

Nelson Rahi: As a Villain, I'd have Sir Brian Little back at the drop of a hat. Our best Prem boss, repeated trophy winner. Walks on water.

Charles Edwards: Ron Saunders would be incredible back at Villa... Actually anyone before Houllier would be nice.

  18. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 13:21

    Crystal Palace 0-0 West Brom

Palace fans off their seats as Dwight Gayle goes to ground but the referee is having none of it. Chris Brunt - back with us - made the challenge but Gayle was already going down. No pen for me.

And then Wilfried Zaha does really well to get a shot off but it's saved by Boaz Myhill!

  19. Evans loss is setbackpublished at 13:21 British Summer Time 3 October 2015

    Crystal Palace 0-0 West Brom

    David Pleat
Former Tottenham manager on BBC Radio 5 live

"Jonny Evans going off injured is a setback, they will have to reorganise the back four. But Craig Dawson is comfortable at centre-back and West Brom have a tall back four.

"West Brom are sitting slighter deeper but if away from home and you are drawing 0-0 then you can consider that satisfactory."
