Ross Barkley was guilty of really poor marking for a goal by West Brom on Monday and he was the man in the wrong again there. He let Danny Ings run off him far, far too easily.

Liverpool keeper Simon Mignolet can be criticised for kicking and a lack of authority in his area - but he can produce some stunning stops, as he has just proved with those saves from Steven Naismith and James McCarthy.

Former Everton winger Ronnie Goodlass on BBC Radio Merseyside: "If he looks back on it, Steven Naismith will feel a yard either side and his header would have been a goal but let's give credit to the keeper as it was an excellent save. The second save by Simon Mignolet is even better."

Lee Shore: Sunderland not hurrying into making any appointments yet, well not until the Merseyside derby is over, see how Brendan gets on.

Shohidur Rahman: Naismith should've scored, it was a free header.

Serge Tchwenko: That should have been a goal for Naismith. Headed straight at Mignolet.

Great save again! Everton have really dialled it up and and James McCarthy cracks in a stinging shot from 20 yards which Simon Mignolet keeps out, one-handed again. 

The build-up was the best football of the day. Romelu Lukaku involved, Steven Naismith and Ross Barkley all having a pass too. 

Rubbish defending! But a great save! Ross Barkley whips in an Everton free-kick, to the heart of the penalty area, and Steven Naismith is completely unmarked. Just head it in - but he allows Simon Mignolet to make a one-handed stop.

Fine save, but he should be burying that...
