Heading into today's games, Chelsea have eight points from as many games and no side has finished above fifth in the Premier League after such a start.

They face Aston Villa today, who have started even worse (four points worse to be precise) and are winless in seven.

Ominously, Villa have not kept a Premier League clean sheet at Stamford Bridge since March 1998, conceding 30 times in eight subsequent visits.

Man City v Bournemouth (15:00 BST)

Manchester City anoraks, or indeed fans of Bournemouth, may recall a meeting between these two sides at Dean Court in 1999.

And one peculiar incident, in particular.

"I must have missed a rule change because we had one player booked for aggressive walking," said then City manager Joe Royle of Kevin Horlock.

Royle confirmed that Horlock was booked for "walking towards the referee in an aggressive manner while asking a question." The referee admitted that the player never swore...

  4. Walsall aim to topple Spireitespublished at 14:46

    League One preview

Leaders Walsall will look to hang onto stop spot by beating struggling Chesterfield at the Bescot Stadium.

Dean Saunders' Spireites have won just once in the league since August but will take encouragement from the fact that of their four wins this season, three have come away from home.

Second-placed Burton go to Fleetwood, who are looking for their first win under new manager Steven Pressley.

Blackpool are seeking a fourth win in a row for the first time in five years as they go to Coventry, while new Doncaster manager Darren Ferguson starts his reign at home to Bradford City

Oldham boss David Dunn is hoping for his first win in charge at home to Sheffield United, while in the Lancashire derby at Gigg Lane, a win for Bury against Rochdale could take the in-form Shakers to the top of the table.

Dennis: Decent start from Klopp - clean sheet and a point away. Great foundation from which to start building.

Sam Payne: Great to see Mourinho giving Ruben Loftus-Cheek a game. The team needs a lift and he might give us that, like Kane did at Spurs.

I Am Stan: Hazard, Kompany, Depay all dropped. Very brave decisions.

"I'm sure Jurgen Klopp will be more than delighted with a clean sheet away to Tottenham in his first game."

The Championship also swings back into action today, with leaders Brighton going to Elland Road to face Leeds

If Brighton's record does go, Middlesbrough could take over at the top as they look for a fourth successive home win against Fulham

In-form Reading are seeking a fourth successive victory of their own at home to Charlton, while at the botttom end there's a big first game in charge for new Rotherham manager Neil Redfearn.

The ex-Leeds boss takes his side to Brentford - yet to win under  Lee Carsley - with the sides level on points and goal difference either side of the drop line.

Sheffield Wednesday and Hull drew 1-1 in the early kick-off.

  16. Hugs and kisses at work?published at 14:30

Everton v Man Utd (15:00 BST)

Right, be honest... what would you think if your manager came over and gave you hugs and kisses when you did something good at work. I'm not so sure, to be honest (I hope he's not reading this).

Anyway, that's what Louis van Gaal does on Manchester United's training ground.

Juan Mata said earlier this week: , external"I really value his honesty. When someone does something in training that he really likes, he goes over to hug and kiss them – he really does it.

"Or he says in front of everyone, ‘You are the best in training, I’m really proud of how you played,’ to set a a good example to others.”

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini shuffles his pack after a string of injuries with Wilfried Bony in for Sergio Aguero and Jesus Navas in for David Silva. Yaya Toure is also back in the team, but captain Vincent Kompany is on the bench, despite playing for Belgium on Tuesday.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe makes two changes as Adam Smith and Euan O'Kane come in for Marc Pugh and Joshua King. The game comes too soon for midfielder Harry Arter, who is returning from injury and not in the squad.

  20. Pardew wary of Hammerspublished at 14:21

    Crystal Palace v West Ham

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew thinks he knows where the threat lies from his former club West Ham this afternoon.

Speaking to the media, he said: "They're very good on the counter.

"I expect us to get a grasp of the game like we did against West Brom and dictate proceedings but that's not going to stop West Ham from winning the game. We need to be organised in our possession otherwise they will counter us really quickly and we'll find ourselves in the game

"West Ham have a bigger and stronger squad than us. But if we can stay clear of injuries and keep this group together, we can compete with them and that's what we've got to hope to do."
