"Don't look into the benching of Hazard too much. He is Chelsea's best player and he obviously just needs a rest. The Blues should still have more than enough to beat Villa."

"Huge smile from Jurgen Klopp as Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris is chased down and forced into a hurried clearance. He likes that. And then another grin as he has a chat with Mauricio Pochettino after the Spurs boss had furiously disputed a decision."

  10. Pellegrini backs Bonypublished at 14:08

Man City v Bournemouth (15:00 BST)

Up front for Manchester City today is Wilfried Bony, and the Ivory Coast striker is likely to see a fair bit of action as the injured Sergio Aguero's understudy.

Bony is yet to truly shine at City - but manager Manuel Pellegrini is not concerned.

"We bought him because we had a lot of information about him," said the Chilean. "He is a very professional player, who always works 100%.

"He was very unlucky with the malaria he had at the start of the season and he has had three or four important (serious) things that didn't allow him to demonstrate why he is here.

"But now with Kun (Aguero) out for one month I think it's the moment, although we can't put all the responsibility to score goals on Bony."

  13. Howe pragmaticpublished at 14:03

Man City v Bournemouth (15:00 BST)

Bournemouth are at Manchester City today and, rather than being envious of the millions at Manuel Pellegrini's disposal, Cherries boss Eddie Howe is pragmatic.

"You can look at transfer fees in isolation and think it's an obscene amount of money, but the reality is whatever fee is paid that is what the player is worth and the players deserve to earn the money that they get," Howe said.

"We know we are not going to be in a position to compete (financially) with them but we've never been in a position where we can compete, even in the Championship with some teams.

"I have no problem with the guys who spend money at the top end of the league. They're more than welcome to do as they see is right for their football club but we are in a different market.

"Would I like to spend £50m? Yeah, if we had it I'd probably spend it but then attracting a player for £50m is another matter."

  15. 'We need three wins on the trot'published at 13:54

West Brom v Sunderland (15:00 BST)

So, Sunderland have a new manager this afternoon in the shape of Sam Allardyce. That's the Black Cats staying up this season then?

So goes the theory - but what does Big Sam think about it all?

"Every game is enormous for us," he said. "We will have to be consistent, we will have to be resilient, we will have to be mentally tough in terms of believing in ourselves to try to get ourselves out of this position because in all honesty, winning three games on the trot is going to be very difficult for us.

"But it would be three games winning on the trot before we would even consider ourselves being able to start to feel a little bit safe."

  17. LvG looking for Rooney impactpublished at 13:49

Everton v Man Utd (15:00 BST)

Manchester United are the visitors to Goodison Park this afternoon, and Reds boss Louis van Gaal wants an Evertonian of his own, Wayne Rooney, to be the star of the show.

Speaking to the media earlier this week, Van Gaal said: "Maybe against Everton his average is not so good, so it's getting time that he changed that pattern.

"I don't know why he has struggled, that you have to ask Wayne, but I'm a manager who analyses opponents and gives him advice as to how we can disorganise Everton's defence and then maybe he can score."

  18. 'He always told us to attack'published at 13:44

    BBC Radio 5 Live
    Former Everton striker Graeme Sharp

"It was enjoyable to come into training every single day. The first day of pre-season, he'd get players on side. He was a players' manager, realising you have to be a team both on and off the field. We always mixed socially.

"He always told us to attack and the Gwladys Street End would suck the ball into the goal for us. And it did."

  19. 'Howard Kendall made it a joy'published at 13:44

    BBC Radio 5 Live
    Former Everton captain Kevin Ratcliffe

"As a manager Howard was so forward-thinking in his day. What he achieved typified what he was about. He was at Everton to win things and he did it.

"His training methods were absolutely fantastic, and pre-season meant we never got injuries in training.

"He made it a joy to attend training every day - you loved going in.

"If Howard had stayed at Everton then I think the club would have dominated in the 1980 and 90s."
