Ninety nine times out of 100 that goes in. That's so unlucky by Jonjo Shelvey. Swansea have come alive

  3. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 58 mins

How has Jonjo Shelvey not levelled there? He knocks Philipp Wollscheid off the ball outside the box, charges into the area and his shot - through keeper Jack Butland's legs - hits the inside of the post but it refuses to cross the line.

Marko Arnautovic has the ball in the net from an Erik Pieters cross but he was offside. The referee books Swansea midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, who had made a bad tackle a minute ago but the official played advantage.

Surely Swansea will have to bring on Gylfi Sigurdsson at some stage? it's a very bitty game.

Stoke come forward but Bojan lazily loses the ball and Swansea break - but Bafetimbi Gomis loses possession with sloppy play of his own.

Better than goal difference as a tie-breaker? Although maybe a bit too close to ice dancing.

  8. Postpublished at 53 mins

Swansea midfielder Jonjo Shelvey puts an effort wide - but at least they're creating (sort-of) chances now. We can't work out in the office whether we think he's any good or not.

    Thoughts?

    Swansea 0-1 Stoke

Swansea have started the second half the way they played the first half. They're giving the ball away. They could be out of this before Garry Monks make a substitution.

  11. Postpublished at 52 mins

Swansea striker Bafetimbi Gomis plays a one-two with Jack Cork and goes for a run but he's got no options and his shot from distance is deflected back to Jack Butland.

And seconds later Cork picks him out again and he shoots from 30 yards, again, but this time it's well over.

There's nobody in midfield for Swansea to give the ball to and every time it does go in there they give it away

  13. Postpublished at 50 mins

Marko Arnautovic skips a tackle or two - he's had a lively game, and squares it to Xherdan Shaqiri, who takes another pretty poor shot for a £12m man.

  14. Postpublished at 47 mins

Stoke start the second half in an attacking frame of mind and former Inter Milan winger Xherdan Shaqiri curls an effort high and wide from inside the box.

  18. Mourinho's 'sophistication' costs him £50,000published at 21:00

It's not like Jose Mourinho to use excuses but...

The Chelsea managertried to use the fact English is not his first language as a defence for comments made after a defeat by Southampton.

Mourinho was given a suspended one-match stadium ban and a £50,000 fine by the Football Association for saying officials were "afraid" to award his team penalties.

The Portuguese has described the fine as a "disgrace" and appealed.

It was decided the 52-year-old's English is "too sophisticated" for that to be a defence for his comments.

Nobody has ever said that about my English...
