    Liverpool 0-0 Southampton

Has either goalkeeper made a save? I guess Simon Mignolet's clawed effort from Virgil van Dijk's header counts, but, in all fairness, you would expect him to make it.

    Liverpool 0-0 Southampton

Liverpool's injured striker Daniel Sturridge has his baseball cap almost pulled over his eyes as he watches from the stands. How the Reds could do with him...

They just don't look like scoring.

Twenty minutes to change all that.

  4. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 67 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Southampton

Liverpool are going for it as Roberto Firmino replaces Adam Lallana in the three behind lone striker Christian Benteke.

What we're seeing now is Brendan Rodgers' legacy - a squad full of spineless cowards. Jurgen Klopp is going to need at least a couple of transfer windows to clear out the utter dross that he's inherited.

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 64 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Southampton

Southampton are yet to have a shot in the second half as they replace Dusan Tadic with James Ward-Prowse in midfield.

    Corner Saints.

  9. Postpublished at 63 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Southampton

Liverpool are looking more of a threat this half but they still aren't creating Southampton too many problems.

This time, Adam Lallana collects a dinked ball into the penalty area but he is crowded out and the chance is lost.

"That cross is poor from Alberto Moreno. He should do better than that. But he gets back after that and makes a great tackle at the other end."

Alberto Moreno is in the thick of the action. This time the Kop rise to him.

Sadio Mane looks like he is in on goal as he drives into the penalty area but Moreno brilliantly slides in to tackle.

Alberto Moreno is hanging his head in shame.

The ball is worked to him in acres of space on the left but he skies his cross horribly into the Kop.

Jurgen Klopp maintains his positive persona and applauds but the Spaniard deserves a right rocket for that...

Joe Kerins: Liverpool are a pile of garbage. I know Klopp's brought in a great philosophy of attacking football, but look at the bunch of absolute donkeys he's got to work with. Imagine going from working with Robert Lewandowski and Marco Reus to Divock Origi and James Milner.

Nial Rees: As an LFC fan I can't see it, no doubt Klopp is a great coach but it's his third game with inherited players, you can't expect miracles, especially with injuries.

Neal Wellens: Liverpool play some nice football with good pressing but with no real cutting edge, and draw 1-1 or 0-0.

And that is almost it. A couple of audacious back-heels from Adam Lallana and Alberto Moreno end in the latter firing low and hard across the face of goal.

The first goal could be decisive...

Liverpool's 3-2 win over Aston Villa is the only league fixture in which they have scored more than one goal this season.

    They haven't been a thrill a minute.

Corner to Southampton in front of their fans... Is this their moment?

No. Simon Mignolet collects under pressure from Virgil van Dijk.

"Christian Benteke's presence is doing more to unsettle the Southampton defence. He's more experienced and offers more of a threat. He's lifted the crowd and his team-mates."

Christian Benteke again. His mis-hit volley from the corner hits a Southampton player, bobbles towards goal, but Steven Davis chests the ball off the line from the post.
