There were a few howls of frustration from the home fans when Manchester City went through a spell of about five misplaced passes in a row just now, but the tone is still more encouraging than critical as they watch their team try to break Norwich down. For example, a booming voice behind me keeps shouting "wakey wakey City" but, so far, the players have not responded. It seems they are waiting for someone to make something happen - will Raheem Sterling be that man?

Olivier Giroud gets a lot of stick for being more of a haircut than a footballer, but his recent goalscoring record is pretty damn fine. He has four in his last five games for club (and you can add two more goals if you include France's game against Denmark). The threat of Theo Walcott taking his place has clearly given the Frenchman the kick up the backside he needed.

Mathew: To win a title you need a combination of skill, passion and luck. Arsenal seem to have that this season. Long way to go though!

Ramesh: Replaced by Walcott was the kick up the backside Giroud needed to turn into a goal scoring machine.

Paul: For all abuse we (Arsenal) get about defence etc, we are the joint best defence in league and clearly City's biggest challenger.

    Watford 2-0 West Ham

West Ham are a funny old side under Slaven Bilic. They seem determined to veer from the sublime to the ridiculous and quickly back again. They have beaten Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea this season but have lost to Bournemouth, failed to beat Norwich and Sunderland and are heading for defeat, it would seem, at Watford. They've done a sterling job of handing a 2-0 lead to the Hornets as well. You'd forgive Bilic for tearing out what hair he has left.

What are the lottery numbers tonight, Trevor?

Superb foresight from Mr Sinclair as Leicester do indeed get themselves back into the game.

A cross from Marc Albrighton to the back stick and Riyad Mahrez is Johnny-on-the-spot to stab home from six yards out.

"Absolutely they can get back in this. They've got great team spirit. Ranieri's got them going and not losing game. They've got an excellent work rate and they never give up - that's all you can ask for as a manager."

How is this game still 0-0?

It's a chance a minute - this time Moussa Sissoko charging through on goal but being denied by the onrushing Jack Butland.

Not a great start to the second half at the Etihad, where a well-organised Norwich are frustrating Manchester City. Manuel Pellegrini has opted to mix things up by taking off Kelechi Iheanacho and sending on Raheem Sterling.

Not much to report at Selhurst Park, where the game is getting progressively scrappy.

"That's the confidence of a striker who has scored a goal in the first half. I looked at this game for West Ham and thought, sitting third in the table, they were expected to win it, but there has been a little bit of complacency."

Immediate response from Swansea as Gylfi Sigurdsson shoots from the edge of the box and is frustrated by a good save from Petr Cech. That goal has given this game a much-needed shot of adrenaline.

Now Stoke go close, in a game which has sparked into life.

A cross from deep out on the left and Jon Walters is denied at the far post by Rob Elliot. The rebound is blasted over the bar, rugby style.

Speaking of rugby... the World Cup final is under way here.

    A seamless plug.

    Olivier Giroud

Now we're cooking. Arsenal take the lead at Swansea as Alexis Sanchez's corner is glanced in to the far corner by Olivier Giroud, who had lost his marker. It is Arsenal's 2,000th goal under Arsene Wenger and it sends them top as it stands.

    League Two latest

Leaders Plymouth are 2-0 up against Morecambe as they chase a fourth straight home win.

Of the top seven, only Accrington - at Leyton Orient - and Oxford - at Stevenage - are winning.

Northampton's players haven't been paid but they are still putting in a shift at improving Newport, where it's 2-2.

In the early kick-offs, manager-less York are now 10 games without a win after Simon Walton's penalty gave Crawley a fourth win in five league games.

And AFC Wimbledon banked the points from a 2-0 win over struggling Hartlepool.

"Gomis has had a good header, but he's not just about goals - he's got good awareness. I think Swansea will have been buoyed by their win last week and Arsenal are missing likes of Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain."

It's not been a goal-fest this afternoon, so we'll take this.

Ayoze Perez gets the ball out on the right, cuts inside and curls a shot across the keeper and wide.

In normal circumstances, we might have ignored that. But today's pickings are slim.

    Odion Ighalo

That's a good start. Watford  and Odion Ighalo double their tally for the afternoon. And again West Ham are culpable in their own downfall. Ikechi Anya broke and then crossed low into the box, where James Tomkins fluffed his clearance and allowed Ighalo to collect, get the ball out of his feet and fire into the roof of the net. That is his seventh of the season.
