Here's how that Marko Arnautovic goal came about. Look at number 22 down the right - that's Xherdan Shaqiri being a Swiss wizard.

Really, that come from out of nowhere. A chorus of "Delilah" rings out around the Britannia - which is a terrifyingly loud chorus if you've ever had the privilege of hearing it.

"You did wonder if this game was ever going to take off because the quality was so poor, but probably the first touch Xherdan Shaqiri gets and he flies past two defenders and zips the ball into the box.

"But I think there are questions to be asked of Joe Hart. He could have come to collect that ball."

Cor blimey. There's a bit of quality.

Xherdan Shaqiri leaves three Man City players in his wake as he sizzles down the right side, whips in a tremendous cross and Marko Arnautovic is quickest to it to nudge home past Joe Hart.

"If you were watching this game and you didn't know it was windy you would think the standards are dreadful.

"Both sides have just been giving the ball away as soon as they get it. I don't think I've seen a move of three passes. They need to get used to the conditions."

    Stoke 0-0 Man City

Stoke are looking compact and it's all about keeping the lid on Man City early on. Neither side can keep the ball though - scrappy and sloppy. But the blustery conditions will not be helping.

Plenty of poking it around to begin with, as David Silva picks it up in a pocket of space a couple of times, but he's unable to pick a pass.

    Mark Lawrenson
    Former Liverpool defender

"I am backing Manuel Pellegrini's side to win this weekend, even though Vincent Kompany will still be out injured.

"Stoke don't create enough chances for me, which is what is holding them back a bit at the moment."

You can take a look at all of Lawro's predictions for the weekend right here, as he goes up against Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess.

Everyone always thinks they can do better than Lawro, so why not prove it by using our predictor game.

Joe Hart. What a wonderful man.

The Man City keeper is stood in the tunnel, about to lead his team out, and is giving each player an individual pep talk.

"Come on Kevin, keep assisting," he yells at Kevin De Bruyne. Has anyone ever been motivated for a game before by being told to "keep assisting".

  12. MOTD commentator's viewpublished at 12:39

Stoke v Man City (12:45 GMT)

    Guy Mowbray
BBC Match of the Day commentator at Britannia Stadium

"Before this fixture last season, Mark Hughes was wary of facing 'a wounded animal'.

"This time the visitors are the walking wounded, with Yaya Toure joining an injury list that still includes Sergio Aguero.

"It had been hoped that Aguero would start alongside Kevin de Bruyne and David Silva for the first time since six were put past Newcastle.

"Scoring won't be so easy against a Stoke side with Ryan Shawcross back from suspension.

"The Potters have yet to concede a league goal with their captain on the field this season."

  14. Aguero to go?published at 12:34

It's another weekend without Sergio Aguero for Man City, after the Argentine hurt his heel last week. City are hopeful he will be back to face Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League on Tuesday.

But Aguero has caused a stir without even playing.

The 27-year-old has said he would like to return to his hometown club, external Independiente when his contract expires at the Etihad in 2019.

A boy who has scored a shed load of goals for Man City who would like to finish his career back home at the club where it all started for him? Fair enough, I say.

Man City will be chuffed to bits to have David Silva back, of course.

But they've not completely lacked a magic man in his absence. Kevin de Bruyne has six assists this term which, combined with his Wolfsburg stats last season, makes him Europe's most crafty creator.

    Jermaine Jenas
Ex-Spurs & England midfielder on Football Focus

"Until recently Joe Hart hasn't had too much pressure on him, so it's good to have somebody like Jack Butland there, proving what he can do in the Premier League with Stoke.

"Joe will be aware of how well Jack's been doing, but for me he is still England's number one."

    Who'd be a keeper, eh?

I'm watching the goalies practicing taking crosses and the wind is giving them all sort of bother - deliveries all over the place. If you're Stoke, you're thinking "get it in the box", surely?

Read into it what you will, but this could be a major reason why Stoke have struggled for goals this season and why Jon Walters in on the bench.

Here are all Walters' touches in the 2-0 loss at Sunderland last week - only six of them were in the opposition area.

Here's another stunning stat - none of Stoke's other "forwards" last week had a touch in the Sunderland penalty area. So that's Marko Arnautovic, Xherdan Shakiri and Bojan Krkic.

Games involving Stoke have not been full to the gills with goals this season - in fact fixtures involving the Potters have produced the fewest number of goals in the Premier League.

Five clean sheets in their last seven league games and 11 goals in 14 tells you all you need to know. Solid as a rock, as penetrative as a blancmange (which, by the way, is a really oddly spelt word),
