    Norwich 0-1 Everton

Everton are looking the part here. Leighton Baines comes within a lick of paint of a goal on his return with a superb effort from the edge of the box that smashes into the post and bounces away to safety.

Norwich are going to consider a 1-0 deficit a result if they can make it to the break without further damage.

  2. Morecambe P-P Exeterpublished at 13:25

We are into that time of year... Morecambe's League Two game against Exeter has fallen foul of the terrible weather in the north of England.

A pitch inspection was held at the Globe Arena and the referee called the game off two hours before kick-off.

Probably a bit late for the poor Exeter fans making the 292-mile journey.

"Deulofeu has impressed me, when Everton are being attacked he comes off his line to find space. He's thinking about the play by being in the best place to receive the ball - intelligent play."

  4. 'Giggs should turn down Swansea role'published at 13:15

Man City v Swansea (15:00 GMT)

    Mark Lawrenson
Former Liverpool defender on Football Focus

Going back to Swansea's vacant managerial position and Mark Lawrenson and Jermaine Jenas have been discussing the speculation linking Ryan Giggs and Gus Poyet to the job...

"It was a big decision for Swansea to sack Garry Monk. From the outside, the only conclusion you can draw is that there was something not right in his relationship with the key players, who were not performing.

"Ryan Giggs has been linked with the job but if I were him I would say: 'I'm flattered, but am not going anywhere.'

"I would sit on the bench next to Louis van Gaal for a little while longer."

What's the dullest match you've ever seen? What did you do to entertain yourself?

Tom Jellis: Celebrated my mate's 21st in Prague, next morning went to see a Fourth Division Czech game between Motorlet Praha and SK Uvaly. Terribly hungover, and the game was an absolute shocker. Last minute, Motorlet equalised with an absolute rocket off the underside of the bar from 40 yards. Almost fell asleep at Atletico Madrid v Hapoel Tel Aviv in 2012, and likewise watching Flora Tallinn II v Tulevik in Estonia (a week after that game in Prague!), there was a hailstorm at the latter and my eyes were still starting to close! Joys of ground-hopping, particularly abroad. Red Star Belgrade v Partizan Belgrade in 2013 was a shocking match, but the fires in the stands, flares, and fireworks were entertainment for the night.

Aksay Chalke: My girlfriend went all the way from India to watch Man Utd v Aston Villa last season, just to fall asleep after half-time!

  6. Everton's bright futurepublished at 13:10

    Norwich v Everton (12:45 GMT)

    Mark Lawrenson
Former Liverpool defender on Football Focus

"With John Stones, Romelu Lukaku, Gerard Deulofeu and Ross Barkley, if Everton can keep hold of them and they grow, then they have a real chance of becoming a very good team indeed.

"And with Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman at full-back, is there a better pair in the country?"

By the way, that is six Premier League games in a row Romelu Lukaku has scored for Everton. Anything Vardy can do...

  8. 'The cross made the goal'published at 13:05

    Norwich 0-1 Everton

    Stuart Pearce
BBC Radio 5 live at Carrow Road

"Not the best of corners, but when it came back it landed at Kone's feet, then Deulofeu's cross was absolutely wonderful. The cross made the goal, it was wonderful."

    GOAL - Norwich 0-1 Evertonpublished at 13:04

    Romelu Lukaku (15 mins)

Hats off to the Everton fans (or should that be hats on). They're firmly in the Christmas spirit at Carrow Road, sporting blue and white Santa hats. Even more so now because Romelu Lukaku has put them into the lead with a back-post header from Gerard Deulofeu's cross. Those two are possibly the most ruthless partnership in the top-flight right now. They're the Han and Chewie of the Prem.

  10. Poyet for Swansea?published at 13:00

Man City v Swansea (15:00 GMT)

    Ian Dennis
BBC Radio 5 live senior football reporter

"Gus Poyet is a contender for the Swansea job. He is interested in the position at the Liberty Stadium. I'm led to believe there is a small compensation package to his current club AEK Athens."

    Norwich 0-0 Everton

    Stuart Pearce
BBC Radio 5 live at Carrow Road

"Norwich are guilty of not pressing high enough and they are letting Everton string passes together. Everton are very confident, and Norwich are very tentative. As the home side, Norwich need to take the game to Everton."

Speaking of the Norwich staff, Alex Neil strikes me as a man with whom not to mess. I don't think he'd be a bawler and shouter, but one glare and you'd soon step back into line, like a Victorian dad.

It's still 0-0 at Carrow Road by the way.

  13. Fashion disasterpublished at 12:50

    Norwich v Everton (12:45 GMT)

These are the legs of Norwich first team coach Gary Holt. It may be mid-winter but sandals and socks is sartorial madness! By the way the tattoo is a throw-back to Kilmarnock winning the Scottish Cup in 1997.

  14. goal

GOAL - MK Dons 0-1 Ipswichpublished at 12:47

    Brett Pitman (10 mins)

We have a goal in the day's early Championship game. Brett Pitman has bagged, with a diving header from Luke Chambers' cross no less. That goal has lifted Town into the play-off places as it stands.

Head here to follow a live text commentary of that game.

  15. Stones startspublished at 12:43

    Norwich v Everton (12:45 GMT)

Good news for Everton... John Stones is starting. It didn't look good initially but clearly the defender not one for fussing. 'Tis but a flesh wound. That game will be kicking off in a minute.

  17. Stones blow?published at 12:37

    Norwich v Everton (12:45 GMT)

There could be problem at Carrow Road for Everton's John Stones, according to BBC Radio 5 live's Conor McNamara. Apparently, the defender is having treatment right now, which will decide if he can start the game. I've just seen the fall now, and he pretty much crumpled after practicing a clearing header.

You've made your worst start to a Premier League season, won just one of your last 11 league games, and lost four of their last five, and haven't kept a clean sheet in your last nine league games. Oh, and you've just sacked your manager. Where would you least like to be playing this Saturday? The Etihad would be high on that list. Such is Swansea's challenge today. Good luck, Alan Curtis.

  19. 'Swansea right to sack Monk'published at 12:25

Man City v Swansea (15:00 GMT)

    Jermaine Jenas
Ex-Spurs & England midfielder on Football Focus

Jermaine Jenas is straight out of the blocks with a controversial view about Garry Monk on Football Focus...

“He did an OK job initially, but the time was right to let him go. With the TV money coming in this year its important Swansea stay in this league, but it was the thing to do.

“To me it looked like he lost the dressing room, and those players were not playing for him. He brought back Leon Britton, one of his pals at the club and that told me he wanted support.”
