It was all too easy for Cabaye...

It's a shame we can't actually see the Frenchman's run on this graphic. But if you look where the Palace number seven passes to Wilfried Zaha (11) and then ends up stroking in the opener about 10 seconds later, then you get the full picture.

Things are getting interesting at the the bottom of League One.

Blackpool are ahead at Lancashire rivals Wigan and, as it stands, are climbing out of the relegation zone.

Barnsley are heading off the bottom thanks to a 2-0 lead at fellow strugglers Colchester, while resurgent Crewe have been pegged back to 1-1 at Doncaster.

    Man City 1-0 Swansea

The Etihad pitch is coping better with the rain than the one at Stadium of Light but the game is not much better. The home side lead but it is a bit of a stand-off at the moment between one side eager for more and another desperate to remain in the contest.

    John Hartson
Former Wales striker on Final Score

"It really is an inch-perfect cross from Yannick Bolasie. Yohan Cabaye gets into the box, loses his man, and gets the reward with a simple tap-in."

"Bolasie has been one of the most exciting players in the Premier League last year and this year. For Cabaye, it looks like an easy goal, but it was world-class wing-play."

    Sunderland 0-1 Watford

Lots of surface water now at the Stadium of Light. It is turning this into more of muddy midfield battle. This game could take a turn for the farcical if the rain keeps falling as it is. One thing is for certain, every pitchfork in the ground will be put to good use at the break.

    Yohan Cabaye (38 mins)

So, so easy! Yohan Cabaye ghosts into the Saints box to tap Palace ahead. Suspicion of offside against provider Yannick Bolasie? It's tight. But Saints have only got themselves to blame. They're playing three centre-backs and not one of them managed to spot Cabaye's late run as he met Bolasie's low cross from the right. Palace deservedly ahead.

Who would you back in a wrestling bout between Ryan Shawcross and Andy Carroll? Tough choice. I'd imagine Shawcross would fight dirty and pull Carroll's man-bun. Anyway...the pair are having a right old battle. No inch given and none asked. And no great chances either.

Yes, you are reading the as it stands table correctly, Watford are currently sixth, four points off the top four. It really is a belting Premier League season.

  12. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:34

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Southampton

We were wondering how Palace had not grabbed the lead. Now we are wondering why the Saints aren't ahead. Let us tell you why - the brilliance of Palace keeper Wayne Hennessey.

Sadio Mane's lovely backheel sets Cedric Soares scampering down the right and his perfect cross finds the head of Steven Davis. The Saints midfielder thinks he has scored - but doesn't bank on the cat-like reflexes of the Wales keeper, who acrobatically pushes the ball over his bar.

    Man City 1-0 Swansea

Fairly clinical stuff from Wilfried Bony - as his touch map shows below.

Two touches inside the penalty area, one goal. That is why Man City bought him from Swansea.

Swansea are doing a good job on David Silva so far. Every time he gets the ball is surrounded by three men. It is like asking the midfielder to work his magic in a phone box. Jesus Navas gets space down the right and crosses low to his Spanish colleague but the Swans defenders are ready and waiting to pounce.

    West Ham 0-0 Stoke

Marko Arnautovic looked like a world beater against Manchester City last weekend. This weekend? Like an average Premier League forward without a decent supply line. The Austrian seems to be missing his Alpine mate Xherdan Shaqiri.

"The issue is not if Bony is good enough, it is that he is not Aguero, and that issue will always present itself. When you know you are number two to a world class striker, that makes a difference, and all strikers have egos - or so John Hartson tells me!".

Troy Deeney tests Sunderland keeper Costel Pantilimon with a low shot from range that the Sunderland keeper gets down low to palm away.

Meanwhile, at the Etihad, Swansea's Andre Ayew rises to meet a corner in the box but directs his header over the bar.

  18. Postpublished at 15:28

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Southampton

Palace manager Alan Pardew is furiously scribbling something on a piece of paper. Something like 'we have got to take these chances' perhaps? That comes moments after the dominant home side are fired a warning by Southampton. Shane Long peels off into the left channel, bending a delicious effort just wide.

  19. Football League updatepublished at 15:28

James Wilson. Remember him? The man on loan from Manchester United has scored his second in as many games for Brighton, handing the Championship leaders the advantage at third-placed Derby.

At the very bottom of the Football League, Yeovil are behind to Barnet and are staring at a third successive relegation.
