That was what many would call a typical derby. Tense, frenetic and decided by a combination of defensive errors and special finishing.

Wolves will be hoping their win can kick-start their faltering season, and is the first time head coach Kenny Jackett has ever beaten Birmingham City in eight attempts in charge against them.

But for hosts Birmingham, who could have gone second before the 15:00 GMT kick-offs, that will be a bit of a sickener.

It's been Wolves' afternoon. Mike Williamson made a tremendous difference to the Wolves back four. He organised and talked to people all the way through. That's what's been missing - someone to pull these good, young players around so they can keep their shape and be solid for the whole 90 minutes.

Wolves midfielder Dave Edwards tells Sky Sports: "We battled it out with two good goals. It's a big win, wins like this can be a turning point and hopefully we can go on a run now.

"With the squad we've got we're capable of finishing in the top six."

Some Birmingham City fans came set for a Halloween party, dressed up in snazzy outfits ready for a victory over a side in the mid-table mire.

But their afternoon is summed up when Paul Robinson's punt into the area is caught easily by keeper Emiliano Martinez.

It's been a solid performance from Wolves. Everyone of them has done a job. Blues have been disappointing.

David Cotterill is trying to get some impetus into Birmingham's attacking play, but his cross is just too far in front of Nicolai Brock-Madsen.

The fourth official has just signalled five minutes of added time. Surely Birmingham can't salvage anything from this match?

Ojo was excellent there. He cut in on his left foot and passed it in at the far post. Blues have had an off day and Wolves have taken advantage.

Wolves have doubled their lead, and again it has come from some pretty soft defending from Birmingham City.

The Blues aren't fully alert to a short corner and Sheyi Ojo, on loan from Liverpool, cuts inside the area and somehow manages to find space beyond a congested penalty area to find the corner of the net.

A week ago, Wolves could not hold onto a first-half lead given to them by Dave Edwards against Middlesbrough. This time, they look a better bet. Blues have huffed and puffed without really getting anywhere. And boss Gary Rowett may have had his last throw do the dice by sticking in big striker Nicolai Brock-Madsen to supplement Clayton Donaldson up front. Wolves' immediate response is to bring on Grant Holt. Looks like,The last 10 minutes or so could see a few high balls thrown in there.

Blues haven't been at their best today. The service to Clayton Donaldson hasn't been the best, they've been laboured and their end product has been poor.

You can see exactly what Wolves head coach Kenny Jackett wants from his team today - control Birmingham City's pace with high pressing and then try to catch their opponents on the break.

They come close again when Scott Golbourne gets to the byline but his cross across the six-yard box is cut out.

Meanwhile, Jackett decides to bring on Sheyi Ojo in place of Nathan Byrne in what should be a like-for like change.
