  1. Birmingham City 0-0 Wolvespublished at 9 mins

Birmingham City winger Demarai Gray v Wolves defender Dominic Iorfa down Blues' left will be a fascinating match up today.

The Blues man gets past a Wolves midfielder with ease, but England Under-21 international Iorfa does just enough to stop a cross coming in.

  2. Birmingham City 0-0 Wolvespublished at 7 mins

First real opening of the game goes to Wolves, as Conor Coady picks up on a loose ball and tries to find Benik Afobe, but the ball is cut out before Coady has a shot which is deflected wide.

From the resultant corner, Mike Williamson heads over the bar.

A minute's silence to remember the fallen at St Andrew's, thankfully a lot better observed than the one which preceded last season's corresponding fixture between these two sides at Molineux. That was the prelude to a goalless draw of almost mind-numbing dreariness. A year ago, it was Blues boss Gary Rowett's first game in charge following an 8-0 record home hammering the previous week - and the need to shore up the defence was paramount. This time it is roles reversed, with Blues riding high and Wolves faltering - and it is the visitors who would probably most welcome a nice, dull stalemate.

  4. Birmingham City 0-0 Wolvespublished at 4 mins

Wolves head coach Kenny Jackett has never beaten Birmingham City in seven previous attempts in charge against them, and his side are on the backfoot in the opening stages.

Birmingham City look very comfortable on the ball, especially Maikel Kieftenbeld roaming forward from midfield.

  5. Birmingham City 0-0 Wolvespublished at 2 mins

Birmingham City are straight on the front foot, pressing Wolves down the right, but Paul Caddis can't get enough on his cross and it is cleared away to safety.

  6. Birmingham City 0-0 Wolvespublished at 0 mins

After an impeccably held silence, the fans let out a roar in support of their respective teams.

Wolves have got to keep their shape and be really disciplined. That is the key for Wolves in the first 15 minutes, and if they can settle down and stay in the game then they have got a real chance.

The teams are on their way out.

With it being Halloween and all that, let's hope for a thriller, thriller night (no one's gonna save you from the beast about to strike).

That is a rather sinister beginning to our live text...

I think there will be goals. Unfortunately for Wolves, they come into the game having conceded nine goals in their last three games and I don't think one man (Mike Williamson) will make that big a difference. With Blues at home, and with the form they are in, then there are goals in their side.

Wolves have a familiar face on the bench today - striker Grant Holt after he moved to Molineux on loan from Wigan late on Friday night.

Kenny Jackett also hands a debut to on-loan Newcastle United defender Mike Williamson, while defender Dominic Iorfa and midfielder James Henry also come in following last weekend's defeat by Middlesbrough.

Gary Rowett makes just one change from the side that lost 2-0 to Hull City last time out - bringing in former Wolves midfielder David Davis in place of Jonathan Spector.

Expect the front three of Demarai Gray, Jacques Maghoma and Clayton Donaldson to provide pace and power going forward.

Wolves have had a very different tale of events since last November's draw against the Blues.

Kenny Jackett's side went top of the table for a few hours but a slump in form eventually saw them miss out on a play-off place on the final day of 2014-15 on goal difference.

Wanderers have had an indifferent start in the Championship this campaign, lying in 15th having lost their last three matches.

But, as football's book of cliche tells you, on derby days previous results can be discarded like a handkerchief that's been in your pocket a little too long.

For Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett, today's match represents one year in charge at St Andrew's, having taken over with the club 23rd in the Championship.

His first game as Blues boss - a hum-dinger of a 0-0 draw against today's opponents Wolves at Molineux.

Since then Rowett has overseen a remarkable turnaround, saving them from relegation last term and now they are sitting pretty in the dizzy heights of sixth and on a run of four wins from five.

To find out how he's managed it, read Ged Scott's rather nice feature here.

"Blood and thunder". "Play the game, not the occasion". "Form goes out the window". "Neither side wants to lose". "It's just another game".

Coverage of derby days is awash with cliches trying to convey or play down just how much the match actually means.

But for the fans, it's all about knowing they can walk into work or the pub with their smugness levels at an all-time high when they see a rival supporter.
