  • Birmingham sixth, Wolves 12th before the rest of Saturday's games

  1. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:21 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2015

Demarai Gray has a crack from outside the area with the seconds ticking down in the first half but it's deflected wide and his corner again is poor. You'd be surprised to see him back on them in the second period.

And the ref blows his whistle for half-time.

  2. Birmingham City 0-1 Wolvespublished at 43 mins

Wolves were almost caught out by Birmingham City there. David Davis is played through after a quickly taken free-kick, but cannot get his shot on target, and Emiliano Martinez sees the ball wide.

  3. Birmingham City 0-1 Wolvespublished at 41 mins

Demarai Gray has been rather wasteful with Birmingham City's corners so far, but Clayton Donaldson's clever flick does come close to levelling the scores.

Stephen Gleeson, who we have barely seen so far today, then has a wild shot from outside the area.

  4. Birmingham City 0-1 Wolvespublished at 38 mins

It was a poor one from Birmingham City defender Paul Caddis - hitting the ball straight at the wall. You couldn't have asked for a better position.

  5. Birmingham City 0-1 Wolvespublished at 37 mins

Birmingham winger Jacques Maghoma has been causing Championship defences all sorts of problems this season, and he wins a free-kick in prime position on the edge of the area. What can Blues do with this?

  6. Birmingham City 0-1 Wolvespublished at 36 mins

    Quote Message

Wolves have been the better team in the first 35 minutes. They look compact and they look a threat going forward. Birmingham need to play simple football, the football that's got them where they are in the league.

  7. Birmingham City 0-1 Wolvespublished at 35 mins

Wolves seem the more likely to add to the scoresheet on this evidence so far, and come close when Kevin MacDonald has a volley from outside the area, but doesn't connect with it properly.

Birmingham City defenders were almost caught napping there, as they all put their hands up for what they felt was an offside on Dave Edwards. The linesman's flag stayed down and the Wales midfielder played in James Henry, who took his time but his low strike was easily held by Tomasz Kuszczak.

Everything is going ok for Wolves at the moment but Birmingham are going to have a spell when they are on top.

  10. Birmingham City 0-1 Wolvespublished at 29 mins

Jacques Maghoma and Demarai Gray have swapped wings and the two have a neat little interchange, before the latter tries to run into the area but is blocked out by a Wolves defender.

  11. Birmingham City 0-1 Wolvespublished at 28 mins

    Nathan ByrneImage source, PA

Wolves go pretty much straight down the other end and Nathan Byrne, who has looked impressive going forward already today, is allowed to run what seems like the length of a junction down the M6 motorway by the Birmingham defence before firing just wide of the mark.

  12. Birmingham City 0-1 Wolvespublished at 26 mins

Birmingham City have a corner on the right-hand side after some great skills from David Davis, but Demarai Gray's delivery is headed straight into the hands of Emiliano Martinez.

  13. Birmingham City 0-1 Wolvespublished at 25 mins

Birmingham City are finding it very hard to penetrate through a Wolves defence which has been bolstered by the signing of Mike Williamson.

Jacques Maghoma does have a chance to cross, but hits it far too long with players in the box.

  14. Birmingham City 0-1 Wolvespublished at 22 mins

Birmingham City are living on the edge, and a poor defensive header allows Nathan Byrne to break forward, but Benik Afobe can't hold his line and is offside when played through on goal.

  16. Birmingham City 0-1 Wolvespublished at 17 mins

Birmingham City need to get back into the game, and their fans scream for a penalty when Danny Baath and Clayton Donaldson tangle in the area, but the referee is not interested and waves play on.

  17. Birmingham City 0-1 Wolvespublished at 14 mins

Goodness me, that was almost another blunder from Birmingham City's defence.

A completely harmless cross into the box comes in from the right, but Paul Robinson and Tomasz Kuszczak are clearly not talking to each other, and the ball nearly bounces into the back of the net.

After their decent start, Birmingham are looking a little ropey.

Birmingham have made a big error there in letting the ball bounce and Dave Edwards has taken advantage of that. That will give Wolves confidence - now it's about how they react because they were also ahead here last season.

On Halloween, the defending for Wolves' opener will give Birmingham City fans nightmares.

Blues captain Paul Robinson allows a lofted ball into the box to bounce over him, and after Tomasz Kuszczak saves Benik Afobe's initial effort, Wales international Dave Edwards is on hand to slide the ball home past two covering defenders.
