There are nine games in the Championship today, and Brighton will go back to the top if they beat Charlton at the Amex Stadium. Chris Hughton’s outfit dropped one place in the table thanks to Middlesbrough’s 2-0 win at Ipswich on Friday night.

Third-placed Derby don’t play today, but Hull, in fourth, are at Elland Road where some disgruntled Leeds fans are threatening a walk-out after 17 minutes. Why? Supporters in the South Stand are unhappy that ticket prices in that area of the ground are being raised by £5 to incorporate a 'meal deal' voucher. Leeds owner Massimo Cellino is known to dislike the number 17, hence the mooted ‘pie tax’ walk-out.

At the foot of the table, Bolton will hope for a home win over Cardiff ahead of a possible takeover thatthe club hopes to conclude this week.

"The players that are missing from this Manchester City side have been the core of their team when they've been successful, and they've missed them hugely.

"Get them back and for me City are still favourites for the title. But they need to get them back."

The quality of the small teams have not gone up. The quality of the big teams have gone down that's why results like this are happening. Champions League has also provided evidence of this. Premier League just doesn't have the quality it did five years ago.

Villa have less points at this stage of the season than the Derby team who went down with a record low of 11 in 2007-08.

    Stoke 2-0 Man City

After the hammering from Liverpool, now this... I've no idea how many billions we've spent- but it's beyond a joke when a team that cost so much can play so badly. Embarrassing. Difficult to see where the actual problem lies. Players just after mon£y? Tactics? Motivation?
